DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion

if she turns just a little bit better than the P51 when low and slow I think we will be fine dealing with all the current german aircraft. Nothing you can do speed wise anyhow. -
closed Storm of War - DCS WWII / Historical Server

everyone loves stats more the better IMO. -
would be nice for the in-game scores to be somewhat accurate again. some of us can't sleep at night without knowing how many kills/deaths we have.

You'd have to let AKAK know too. ;)

Gunsight Disappearing Workaround
122sqn Bruv replied to imacken's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I've flown alot of Spitfire sorties recently in multiplayer (latest OB) Haven't had this dreaded bug happen since it was last reported fixed. Now that I've posted this I worry a little but it's a strange one for sure. -
I agree with wulf it is extreme for WW2 warbirds for my tastes.
-
Do you fly with VR? I've seen some videos where the Icon/label marks the contact from way out putting non VR users at a big disadvantage in terms of SA.
-
I know this is all about the plane and that looks incredible. The white cliffs on the new channel map look superb. Excellent job and I can't wait to fly my Spitfire along them in awe!

Yet Pilot skill and teamwork can easily make the two Allied aircraft superior to the Axis ones in actual fighting. It really doesn't bother me what was historically accurate or whether gameplay is "fair" or not. What DCS does is provide a level of detail in the planes that is second to none and I don't think we should accept lesser work just to make up the numbers. Lets see what happens with the P47, Mosquito, F4U because I think after that you would need some more Axis maybe a 109 G2/6, 190 A5 or something Japanese like a Ki-84.

it would be nice to see a screenshot of the intended battle area, it doesn't need much of England just the SE corner, the Channel and mostly French point eastwards. I think if it includes Belgium / Holland and maybe a little Rhineland it can open up the possibility of a flyable B17 for daylight bombing missions. If not P47D and Mossie flyers can do all sorts of attack missions. With the A20G / JU88 / C47A as AI additions mission makers can really get to work. As for paying for something twice building a map with accurate cities / towns / villages across an area so vast would take years, for the effort involved much more expensive to the user. I'm hopeful for a multiplayer environment that will incorporate a rotation of this new channel map / normandy / marianas.

what problems do you have with the spitfire?

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
122sqn Bruv replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
I fear the Axis planes will keep their MW50 engaged at all times and not fly any slower at the sight of all those Merlins rampaging all over the place. Heres hoping the new Damage model will be in place before the 4x 20mm mossie laser cannon of doom gets its first outing. Plus need a new pair of swimshorts for that marianas map. This will be us -

My squad are always looking to recruit fellow Brits to fly with in WW2 servers. -
He said he was including the normandy mission in January. I guess with all 3 missions in a rotation as it would be unfair to those who don't have it to be completely excluded and we need as many potential players as possible to keep it fun. If it is anything like the LFDM normandy server it should be good.
-
whilst the server was offline all day today I poked my head into the normandy list and have to say the LFDM guys have done a fantastic job with their current mission. I believe it is what we all want to play for a bit more immersion check it out! ~S~

Situation of WWII multiplayer servers
122sqn Bruv replied to Rocko's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
open beta and burning skies seems to be the most popular. 30+plus on weekends and nearly as much most Euro evenings. -
a Japanese and a US carrier would be epic and open up all sorts of possibilities for maps and planes. Do it sooner rather than later ;)
-
i think its totally overdone personally or an oversight on ED's part, maybe for jets but not prop planes. What would the duxford balbo look like if they were flip flopping left and right like in game currently??!!

Happy hunting ;)

BS try and run the latest OB. Sometimes you might be too quick to update before eekz has had enough time to get the server running the latest OB. It is using the latest 2.5.5.34108 currently. In your start menu find eagle dynamics and hit update open beta and see if it finds an update for you. Sometimes if you hit update later and it's only a small file it won't prompt again for awhile or a restart. If it's not in the MP list it's either server down or version mismatch. If you hit Connect via IP you should be able to work out whats going on. Ignore the webpage that is even more out of date.

Gunsight disappearing fixed in 2.5.5.33552?
122sqn Bruv replied to imacken's topic in Bugs and Problems
no failures this current OB for myself and squaddies. Thanks for sorting it! ~S~ -
Hi Aurelius and welcome! The spotting description for L shift + f10 is a bit misleading as you may well expect to actually see something different however BS is going for FULL REALISM in terms of spotting. What it does do is at medium and long range spotting the dot will be ever so slightly coloured in a bit more black than grey. Test it by zooming into a contact at distance and hit Lshift + F10 a couple of times and you'll see what I mean. As soon as things get close in, the plane is no longer a dot and a shape so you have to look all around all the time!! and that can be even harder than just spotting dots! depending on the profile of the plane, wings level, dead 6 etc. From our experiences so far, like lecuvier alludes to, is that some people have eagle eyes and some are oblivious to everything right next to them. It may well have alot to do with resolution, monitor size or just old age for some people. Practice and stick time is the key, it is hard but addictive. Happy Hunting it is a jungle in there. :pilotfly:

the elapsed mission timer appears to be counting down backwards from 1 hour every time it resets.
