  1. Yes, I'm aware that you can toggle it. I don't know if it really shows TAS, though, it could be ground speed for all I know. I haven't investigated that, and I don't intend to. The F-15 matching whatever is shown in the infobar could be a coincidence, it's not proof that whatevers in the infobar is correct. Also, ED probably have access to debug tools from which they can get all kinds of data, I very much doubt they use the infobar. I don't care so much about all that, though. I just want the Tomcat to cut through the sound barrier like a 68° wedge.
  2. I think this is appropriate to share here: TL;Dr The infobar does, in stark contrast to reason, NOT show IAS or even CAS, but EAS (equivalent airspeed i.e. CAS corrected for compressibility). Edit: And F10 map doesn't show TAS like it says but ground speed. Which would be fine if it were labeled correctly.
  3. But as you well know developing those systems have their own set of challenges. You can get away with stuff just by saying "don't do this or that or the application will crash", but you also have to fulfill sometimes ridiculous requirements that someone dreamed up with their behinds. Anyway, I would like to see new ground physics, but I certainly agree with your priorities. In the meantime I'll just land on the boat, lol. I'm sorry I got carried away from the subject of acceleration. I'm really looking forward to the FM corrections.
  4. Very nice! When the dust has settled I would very much appreciate if store drag index and weight could be added to the manual. I.e. including launchers, adapters, rails, etc. Perhaps it's even possible to add a dynamic kneeboard page or two, that show drag index and weight of current loadout? But I digress...
  5. Good stuff! Especially the semi-recessed Sparrows have seemed way too draggy. I'm really looking forward to these changes, and I'm glad to hear you're making good progress! In contrast to what many believe this isn't all about dogfighting, for me it's mostly about being able to punch through the sound barrier and send off some missiles with good energy.
  6. The data is for 10 kft. My guess is that at 35 kft your Mach number might be closer to the point where the A gains the advantage.
  7. Why not just wait for 2.7 to come to stable?
  8. Well, it does allow you to share the workload, which the F-16C, F/A-18C, A-10C, etc. doesn't. But sure, there are restrictions in how you share because of what functions are available in the front and back. The airframe itself is pretty well suited as it fits two guys and it's designed to be able to loiter for a good while. That's what I meant when I said it's a good platform. The F-14D would of course be better suited for the role, with improved avionics and link 16, but that's just a DCS dream at this stage, just like the F-15E. Still, of all the aircraft in DCS today, my opinion is that the F-14 is the best at SCAR/FAC(A). That doesn't mean it wouldn't be nice to have an F-16D, it would.
  9. We do, however, have the mighty F-14 in game. It's a very good SCAR/FAC(A) platform. But sure, I can imagine having fun with an F-16D too.
  10. My guess is that it might not be a natops fuel state call, but an "We're overweight because we didn't feel like dumping any fuel in this weather". They could still call out the fuel like everyone else in less extraordinary conditions.
  11. Doing a case 1 I just trim it to on-speedish while descending on the downwind, then use the stick to stay on-speed until trap. I say "on-speedish" because depending on your rate of descent you may want to trim slightly fast/slow. E.g. if in level flight you need to be slightly fast on the trim if you want to end up on-speed when descending on final.
  12. @Snakeice Very clear! Thanks a lot!
  13. How do I get DLWP1-3 to work? I've created a simple mission with just a carrier and one F-14B. I have created 6 waypoints for the F-14, and named 4-6 DLWP1, DLWP2 and DLWP3. Cold or hot start doesn't matter, neither does it matter if I let Jester do the alignment or do it myself from the back seat. They just won't show up on the TID. What am I missing?
  14. No, but you can hook a target and then press the P/PD-STT buttons on the right side of the DDD.
  15. I know I've seen charts that pointed towards excess thrust starting to increase from Mach 1.1-ish, but in DCS it seems like Mach 1.2 is a brick wall. I can't find said charts now, though. Does anyone have them?
  16. I'd much rather have the Wildcat and Zero than the Hellcat and ??? The Me262 is likely to be too good a performer to be really interesting. The problems it faced in real life will be hard to replicate in the sim. Also, I think it's wrong to attribute engineering feats to political ideologies.
  17. Try enabling MFAA in the Nvidia control panel. Also, I don't think a faster CPU is going to help much if all you want to do is crank up the AA.
  18. Here is a thorough examination of the different aliasing options in terms of image quality as well as their performance hit A really excellent video.
  19. Yeah, I'm sure that's it. Again, I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just horrible with my stick. And as most don't have a force sensing stick, the default behaviour may not be optimal for them. I wasn't trying to show a bug or anything, I was just showcasing the deadzone, the existence of which is denied by many.
  20. I'm not going to argue about what's a superprop or not. You're missing the point. What is the Corsair going to fight?
  21. Unfortunately the F4U is pretty much in the late war superprop category. As I understand it there are too few documents preserved for aircraft such as the N1K2-J for us to ever see them in DCS. So what is the F4U going to fight? It'll be like shooting fish in a barrel. What we need, given the constraints above, is a pearl harbor/midway/coral sea era matchup, with Wildcats and Zeros, along with a dive bomber for each side. That is 4 aircraft that will give us the best experience, I'm sure. The F4U, while cool, is a waste.
  22. Though only 5 % smaller in terms of weight, per Wikipedia, so basically the same. Anyway, it's the signature mission mission of the attack Viggen so I understand why they did it that way. The harpoon should have a similar stop gap solution, imo. Rb04 and Rb15 aside, the rest of the Viggen weapons are useless against ships in DCS.
  23. Yes. It is also the same in pitch. Go test it for yourself if you own the module.
  24. I never did say that anything is wrong. I just said it's awful in combination with my stick. But there IS a deadzone. Some people incorrectly think otherwise, but to me it's very noticeable. The screenshots just show what I'm referring to, and it's not my gear as DCS evidently registers the input. Coming from the F-16 I did better formation flying in the F/A-18 on my first attempt than I ever did in the F-16. I can AAR and fly formation just fine in the F-16, but felt like a blue angel despite having no practice in the Hornet.
  25. I think the most likely the reason is that I started out ever so slightly banked to the left, and the jet just continued to roll. The roll to the left isn't the issue, though. What I'm trying to illustrate is that the right stick input does nothing. You guys should be able to reproduce it.
