Kinda like the F16 FLCS?
-
@NineLine Well I installed the dedicated server on my secondary PC and ran the downloaded GF track file. I think either GF sets the fog level through scripts or at the time of joining the server the fog was off because the trk file had it off. I was able to spot targets with George just fine. I edited the mission and turned fog to auto.....George can not see targets even when there is no visible fog and the target is a couple hundred meters away. So then I ran the same mission from the ME (fog on auto) and George cannot see targets I imagine all missions with fog turned on to auto or like others have tried more advanced with differing levels will have this problem. So not related to dedicated server + fog (auto), it's simply fog, maybe in this case it being set to auto. I did not try a more advanced fog setting, but fog auto definitely will prevent George from seeing stuff even with no visible fog on ME launched and dedicated server missions.

I'm beginning to agree with some that this may be a dedicated server issue along with fog or some other setting as I can get George to work fine on several MP servers, but unsure if fog is is on those. I took the GF mission (the downloaded track file) and ran it from DCS from the ME and George could spot stuff. I could not get it to work as MP (not dedicated) as my mouse would not work in the cockpit, very weird.
-
Yeah it seems totally random between what people are seeing. It being Christmas Eve maybe the reports are lower than they'd normally be.
-
He works fine in SP for me on the Cauc Dam Mission. In MP he does not on the server I play on (and I think we are talking the same MP server(s), two other servers I joined worked ok
-
I can get him to work on the SCUD hunt mission on the pad and detecting all the friendly units, however he doesn't work on a popular MP server I play on where he detects nothing.

New stick gradient settings...are mine incorrect?

Honest question and not meant to be a troll, how does something this obvious make it through testing?- 8 replies

So just getting back to the Viper after years of flying helos. Because I mostly fly helos, I have a center mounted stick with an 10cm extension. So my issue is that right after rotations on takeoff and on final approach landing, she is squirrely as well a squirrel on crack. Almost like I'm rocking the rudder pedals left and right. (yes autopilot is off) In normal flight it feels pretty good. I don't remember it being like this when I flew it last. My settings are below, should I be doing something else.

Well crap, the SRS overlay is causing this...good call. What I don't understand is that SRS is used so much, I'm surprised this hasn't been reported like .... every day. But, the fact that DCS cannot properly handle something like this still means it's a DCS issue.
-
Well the confined to window didn't change anything. SRS is pretty darn common so I doubt it, but I'll disable it and try it out
-
Maybe the confine option is making it do it, will have to check when I get a chance.

This is very annoying and it happens on all aircraft. Had the issue on two different PCs and two different VR headsets. Someone recommended LALT C. This only works momentarily and the white dot of immersion killer comes back. Demonstration of issue in video:

This is still an issue today, reported but not fixed?

missing track file FCR not picking up targets visible in VR
KungFu posted a topic in Bugs and Problems
So started flying with the FCR as I fly on a MP server that limits them of course. I come up to an area with an SA6, site is huge with all kinds of launchers and supporting vehicles and a couple of shilkas. They are on a pretty flat open area. Im in VR and can see them easily, I would say there were 20 or so vehicles about 2km out Hit the FCR, nothing. Make sure it's covering the area, yep....set to continuous...no returns. I'm at like 100ft agl and I then play with the elevation, nope nothing returned. However like 10mins earlier this thing was picking up stuff behind trees, so I know it's working. I wind up having George find them and fire on them with tads designation. Most of them missed, in fact they hit the exact same empty place with different targets. (Yes I made sure the lased and got valid point tracks) So what other than the obvious (FCR looking elsewhere, wrong elevation, etc) what would cause it to not see things that are obviously there and out in the open? -
When my ex wife brought home a new cat, it and the current cat would fight like demons. Solution: I put them both in the guest bathroom and closed the door. Went to work Came back, they became best friends. So, we lock Nick and Ron in a small room until we have a solution.

Oh I realize that, but at least they get most of the cut....hopefully.

I purchased the KW on release, only because it was not an ED module and it wasn't EA. I want the Chinook but no way I'm giving ED money until I can fly the F15e again. Trust has been broken
-
If this has been going on as long as some think, then maybe mediation was unsuccessful.

Not giving legal advice, I'm giving advice from a customer's point of view. Which is what I assume this thread was created for. You know well and good that ED normally do not create threads like this .... ever. Reading Reddit, Discord and other forums you can see the increased apprehension to buy anything related to DCS since the RAZBAM drama began DCS is a niche market, it's survival depends on niche customer sales. Hell you could say that DCS drives most of the combat sim hardware business, which is also niche. If the trust is broken between ED and the niche consumers, DCS will either suffer or be no more. You see because customers see the rift between one maybe two module makers and wonder to themselves will a purchase from a third module maker be wise because they wonder if they are getting paid or not. Especially because ED said that the Hawk debacle will never happen again....and look where we are Comparing Boeing to ED is a a pretty big and flawed stretch. Do we have really have a choice flying commercially on what plane manufacturer we fly on? Do we have a choice on which plane the military purchases? Do we as consumers have the means to buy a Boeing 737 or Airbus 350? We do have a choice when purchasing a module on DCS.
-
If it ties to the current narrative being put out there, then yes they should. Especially since the trust is dissolving between ED, Module makers, and customers. ED has to restore the trust. Again If it ties to the current narrative being put out there, then yes they should. Like I said, if one email leaked there will be others, it's best if ED gets ahead of it I'm not demanding anything from ED, only offering "advise" because the trust is in fact dissolving fast.
-
ED needs to jump on this asap (not two weeks) and explain because if one email leaked, there will be others. This is just like politics, eventually the truth will come out. It is better to hear it first from ED rather than leaked emails. There was a response from a HB employee in that thread, and they did not dispute the authenticity of the email

IMHO, If the intent is to reestablish a relationship with RAZBAM, then lawyers are only going to draw this out longer than need be and I guarantee you make is more complicated. Both ED and RAZBAM representatives just need to swallow their pride and sit in a room for a day and come to a resolution. Each side will have to concede some things. Lawyers are in it for the money and time is money. But as I said before, it is EDs responsibility to make this right no matter what RAZBAM did or did not do. We paid ED for the modules, they are EDs intellectual property. ED is responsible for maintaining the trust with we the customers. If indeed this is another HAWK situation, then ED and we customers are really in a bind. We were promised this wouldn't happen again and yet here we are. This tells me that RAZBAM's contract wasn't updated to put source code into escrow. But I'm also concerned about losing talent like Galinette, I don't think much of anything would bring him back. The radar in the 15e is a masterpiece.
-
Rather or not this thread should be locked isn't up to anyone but ED employees. An ED employee started this thread and chose not to lock it. I assume they wanted feedback from customers, not arguing about whether is should or should not be locked doesn't help. Nothing constructive will come from it.
-
Getting out in front of it doesn't mean you have to do it publicly. NDA wouldn't have prevented that.
-
With all the public information available, both ED and RAZBAM did not handle this situation appropriately. This seems to have been brewing for quite some time and was not a surprise moment. That being said, ED is the IP holder and the company that sells the IP should have got out in front of it, instead it got to a point where I think bridges have been burned and any sense of "normalcy" even with a resolution will not be possible . ED as the owners of the IP, should have acted much sooner. Now in order for RAZBAM to have gone to the lengths they did, the status of relationship had to have been very bad. They want to make great products and of course make money. The thing is, trust has been broken with both entities and I just don't see how that trust customers have in the relationship between ED and RAZBAM can be restored I own 3 RAZBAM modules and I fly only RAZBAM modules when it comes to jet aircraft. The F15E was my absolute favorite, I felt at home in it even in an EA state. Now, tbh I don't see any resolution that is beneficial to customers is possible. So, to say something that is going to be unpopular but is the truth....ED as the owner of the IP, it is your responsibility to make this right, your responsibility to regain the trust. That's the way it works in business. I work for a very large software company, and we use several licensed 3rd party tools in our product. If for any reason one of those tools breaks, we have to make it right to our customers working with the 3rd party. The buck stops with my company....ED the buck stops with you.
