  1. I guess that sorta makes sense, though it doesn't help me be less dead.
  2. He never seems to prioritize the targets we SHOULD be engaging... like the things that are shooting at us. He likes to prioritize targets that are well out of range. If he is supposed to best emulate the CP/G in a multi-crew environment with two functioning brains, I would expect him to tell me, 'Hey boss, we should probably shoot this guy first. He's in range, and already shooting at us.'
  3. Same deal last night, AFTER getting my Apache repaired. Following the same sequence that worked fine for several Hellfire launches, I took some damage, landed, got repaired, refueled, and re-armed. Got back up, everything setup and configured as before. For both 'K' and 'L' Hellfires, George told me, "Engaging!" and "Firing!" but nothing left the rail. Also the 'missile constraints met box' was missing from the IHADDS. Not dashed, missing. Not there. MIA. Yes, I know... no trackfile, no problem. And before everyone offers what steps I was missing, please note, as stated above, I was following the exact same process that resulted in successful missile launches just minutes before.
  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLACK ACES! Originally commissioned in 2006 as a Jane's F/A-18 simulator squadron, VFA-41 was re-commissioned on July 4th, 2018, as a naval aviation squadron using the DCS World sim platform. In the five years since, the Black Aces have participated in and completed 7 comprehensive scripted campaigns, and are now involved in their 8th, named Operation Enduring Resolve. Limited since the beginning to a roster of 12 active pilots, VFA-41 has always been regarded as among the most active and longest serving squadrons in the military flight sim community.

  6. Things are heating up in the Syrian region, with Chinese military assets now appearing and complicating matters. The VFA-41 Black Aces have been deployed to the eastern Med aboard USS George Washington in support of NATO's Operation Enduring Resolve. You can keep abreast of the action here: www.vfa-41.com

  8. Based upon the most recent evaluation of degraded Russian military capability in the region, the Pentagon has determined that the presence of the USS Harry S. Truman carrier battle group is no longer required in the Black Sea. The fleet has been recalled, marking an end to the Navy's participation in NATO's Operation Noble Tempest, which began in October of 2022. The Naval Aviators of VFA-41 who flew in the requisite number of missions during the operation have been awarded the campaign ribbon shown here, and are due for some much deserved R&R. Unless the Training Officer has something to say about it...

  10. It seems like anymore updates tend to break things in multi-player with little or no concern or interest from ED. And, more often than not, while well-known and understood among MP pilots, ED's response is, 'Oh, really? First we've heard of it.' Perhaps because MP pilots only represent a smaller fraction of DCS pilots? So if it doesn't affect single-player or lone-wolf MP, who cares? Like the RWR in MP has been borked for eons, with no mention or interest from ED about even on the roadmap for fixing. (When ANY player in the flight is spiked by a hostile emitter, ALL aircraft in the flight get spiked, even if 100 nm away.) Makes the RWR and EW systems virtually useless. The Long Range Laser Lineup System on the CVNs is broken after the MT release. Yeah, it's kinda important for squadron Case III recoveries at night. Very exciting that plane director wands are visible again, but line-up lights still not getting any mention or interest. And now aircraft modex numbers are jacked up for some reason, but evidently only in MP. So it will probably get the same level of interest from ED as other MP-only bugs. Very little. null

  12. The Screenshot command is bindable to a HOTAS button in the F-14. Why not in the F/A-18?? Please do.
  13. HO HO HO! If you were a good boy or girl, Santa may have left you a jet on the Black Aces flight line. It's the 307 jet, reserved for a sim pilot who is a naval aviator at heart. Vacancies are rare on the VFA-41 pilot roster. There are only 12 slots, so each can only be offered to a committed and dedicated sim pilot. Expert pilots are not invited to apply. The only requirement is that you have to want to fly. Mandatory training and qualification will get you up to speed. (Gamers will want to look for another squadron.) Black Aces are not pilots who fly if/when they can find the time. They make the time to fly. Minimum participation is required, though VFA-41 is never looking for pilots whose goal is to do the minimum. www.vfa-41.com
  14. Very nice. Thanks. Unfortunate the hear that Winwing has not addressed this as quickly as they have similar issues.
  15. FUEL DUMP switch on the Winwing throttle Startup panel. Is has both ON and OFF positions. The F/A-18 controls settings only has on ON/OFF toggle command. Any workaround for this?
  16. [SOLVED!] For those just catching up: There's a new SSA beta release that is necessary since last week's DCS update: https://github.com/Simshaker-for-Aviators/SimShaker-for-Aviators-Releases/releases/tag/beta-2.5.7 Did last week's DCS update bork SimShaker for Aviators? Was working nicely right up until then. SimShaker Sound Module TEST works OK. SimShaker for Aviators 'sees' me get in the jet and sets Model: F/A-18. But the EFFECT Monitor now shows nothing being sent for any events in the jet. Did 'DCS Repair Export' with no result. DCS Debug View shows SSA is receiving data.
  17. Interested candidates are invited to post questions to the Black Aces Message Board via the squadron website. Registration is not required. www.vfa-41.com
  18. The Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon today announced that NATO's Operation Damascus Dawn has reached its successful objective, which was to neutralize the Assad regime's military threat to Turkey and other neighboring countries. The operation began in December of 2021, and comprised 34 missions for the VFA-41 Black Aces aboard the USS George Washington, which will now depart the region for some much needed R&R and inter-deployment training. Squadron members who participated in a required number of sorties have been awarded the campaign ribbon shown here. So what's next for the Black Aces? Very little rest for the weary... Things are heating up in the Black Sea. VFA-41 Black Aces

  21. When I go to the McDonald's drive-thru and order a hamburger, I generally expect a 'ready to eat' product, not the parts to make a hamburger with the admonition to 'make it yourself, it only takes 3 seconds!' Then again, I guess I've never ordered an early access hamburger.
  22. Right. If I'd paid $56 for a beer, it damned sure better come opened! And in a chilled mug! Served by an attractive young lady with a much better attitude!
  23. Yeah, ridiculous that 3.5 years into development it was released with zero instant action options. But what's kinda hilarious is the fanbois saying, 'It's early access! They probably didn't have time to add them!' and in the same breath saying, 'It only takes 3 seconds do it yourself!' Do you see how these statements are kinda contradictory and self-defeating? --------------------------------------- [EDIT: based on the responses below, they do not.]
  24. For any interested, attached is a template to create inserts for Cougar MFDs. Open and edit in Powerpoint. (Just overtype the text.) Print out on cardstock. Will fit your MFDs perfectly. Cougar Template 02.ppt
  25. Due to the retirement of a valued VFA-41 pilot, the 312 jet is currently vacant. Accordingly, the JOIN button has been re-added to the squadron website. As you are probably aware, the VFA-41 pilot roster has a hard limit of 12 roster slots. Openings are infrequent and tend to fill quickly. If you're the pilot to become the next Black Ace, don't delay in submitting your application. Interested pilots should check out the squadron website (link below) to learn more about the Black Aces. The selected applicant will expect to be immediately engaged in the squadron's current involvement in Operation Damascus Dawn.
