Hello, I'm new and I'm looking for help in setting up the buttons for my winwing orion 2 f 18 throttle and my orion2 f16 stick. If someone has the time and can help me that would be great.

hi all. more of a question than a problem. i purchased a new computer. i will be doing setup this weekend. my current computer still runs fine and dcs has no issues. i want to keep it together until i am satisfied with the new computer operations. is it possible to have the modules activated on both? or do i need to deactivate on old and activate on new? hopefully this makes sense. thank you.

Hey folks, I've searched a bit but couldn't find a thread for just entering DCS. ( while I'm certain it's out there, again my apologies ) I'm in the process of building a DCS specific rig and have found EXCELLENT info on that. My intention is to primarily focus on the A10C first, then the FA18C (Thrustmaster rig for both) I've taken advantage of the new year sales and purchased the following. (also searching for manuals for all). Can someone please advise where I can find the modules I've purchased? I read the manuals are there? I've attached an Excel sheet mapping out my plan to go bankrupt (LOL) While the sale is still running I'd be very grateful for any advice on additional purchases while I can use the discount. Even if I may not use the purchase for a bit (I already know the learning curve is steep) Current purchases: A10C II Tank Killer F/A 18C Hornet Super Carrier Persian Gulf Map Nevada Test & Trainings Range Map A10C Iron Flag Part 1 Campaign F/A 18 Rise of the Persian Loin Campaign Again please forgive any frustration - I know this must happen a lot. BLUF, I would like to see SAM’s better modeled within DCS. I’ll be speaking primarily about the SA-2 but the points I bring up apply to other SAM’s in the game. There are a few things on the in-game SA-2 that are modeled but not function such as the trough antennas on the Fan Song Target Engagement Radar (TER) that allow it to do its own limited search function. These antennas can scan a fixed area at a time or be combined with the rotation of the whole unit to provide 360 degrees of search. Another thing missing on the Fan Song is its optical tracker. This allowed crews to track targets without the use of the 2 parabolic dish antennas mounted on top. Since the missile guidance was accomplished using Command Guidance instead of Beam Riding the target aircraft wouldn’t get a missile launch warning until the beam from the missile uplink antenna also encompassed the aircraft. This is also true for when crews tracked targets using the Radars, the aircraft would be alerted via its RWR (Radar Warning Receiver) that it was being locked onto, but the missile launch alert would not be given until the aircraft was in the same beam as the missile. For a brief explanation of why this happens continue reading this paragraph, if you already have a grasp of it feel free to skip to the next one. On radar's like the Fan Song that use command guidance, there will usually be antennas dedicated to tracking a target and antennas dedicated to missile guidance or, "talking to the missile." Because the radar's goal is to get the missile out in front of the aircraft to pull lead and not waste its limited energy, it will be fired with lead and the narrow beam of energy pointed at it to give it commands during flight will likely not encompass the aircraft until the missile and aircraft are very close (this scenario assumes a side aspect shot). The aircraft will be kept in the beam of a tracking antenna that works with a computer or the operator to tell the uplink how to guide the missile. The optical tracker is seen on most "E" models of the Fan Song radar which is the variant modeled in game, this is evident by the placement of the 3 parabolic dishes as well as the trough antenna's. From what I have read the SA-3's Low Blow radar includes similar trough antennas however it does not utilize them in the same search function, instead they act as receivers. These Trough antennas are fixed in place so they are limited in azimuth and elevation in terms of search capability, however the inclusion of these antennas mean systems like the SA-2 are not completely useless if the search radar is offline. Something to note is the choice of search radar for the SA-2 and SA-3 being the P-15 Flat Face in game. In real life as far as I've read the P-18 Spoon Rest was the intended Search Radar for at least later model SA-2’s such as the “D” model we have in game. It was also used with the SA-3, however the SA-3 also used a later version of the P-15 called the P-15M Squat Eye. Both the Spoon Rest and the Squat Eye include better performance over the Flat Face. Something that I cannot confirm (as I do not know how the guidance is modeled) but suspect to be inaccurate is the flight path taken by missiles using command guidance. Rather than being fired and leading the target they seem to lag behind it or travel directly to it as if they were beam riding. My final point on the SA-2 specifically is the maximum range of the system. The Target Tracking radar is the SNR-75M4 Fan Song E (it could also be the SNR-75M3 Fan Son E I have not been able to distinguish between the two systems based on our in-game model). The variant of SA-2 to use Fan Song E’s was the SA-2D which used the 5Ya23 missile. This missile has a maximum range of 76,000 m or 41.04 NM. The missile in game has a maximum range of 28 miles, which while being a more realistic firing range as it's much closer to the "no escape" range of the missile, is still short of the maximum range. It's important to note that the statistics for the type of missile used in game seem to be relatively accurate, I believe it is just the wrong missile being used for the variant of SA-2 we have. To conclude, I would like to see track radars have expanded functionality to match their real world counterparts, the variant of SAM specified (like SA-2B, SA-2C, SA-2D etc...) and the components and missiles of SAMs used in game synchronized and their specifications brought in line with the appropriate variant. Thank you and Happy Holidays Sources: http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Engagement-Fire-Control.html http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-S-75-Volkhov.html Both sources include other links to information

Hi, I am a USN/USCG veteran who recently got into DCS. I currently have the F-18 and F-14, several maps, and several campaigns. I have a Winwing Orion2 HOTAS, a stream deck XL, a tobii eye tracker 5, 2 Thrustmaster MFDs, Thrustmaster T.Flught rudder pedals. I have spent some time training but it has not been effective enough for me to jump into missions and campaigns. I have DCS world 2.8 single player, would I need to download the multiplayer version? If so, would all of my aircraft, terrains, campaigns, and stats transfer over to multiplayer?

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to post about a community day our DCS group is having Sunday, April 2nd. We are a new and relatively small group looking for some members; and I think this would be a great way to meet some new people! We will be hosting a Breakout Tournament as well as a Capture the Flag server after! Breakout is a 2v2 arena style game mode, where carrier based F18s take off and engage in a close quarters ACM/BFM dogfight with Aim-9Ls and guns. This game mode is in beta but should still be a lot of fun. As for the capture the flag, well it's capture the flag! Fight to secure the other team's flag while protecting your own. Most planes have a set of older Fox-2s with a full load of guns, flares, and unlimited fuel. This is probably the most fun you can have in DCS ;). Again, we’d love to see some new people pop into the group and come join us! Link to the discord is attached below. Once you join, go ahead and say hi. Then check out the events and RSVP as desired. https://discord.gg/reKUGzMG

WEW Lads are looking for new members!!! Aircrafts we fly: F/A-18, F14 Pilot/RIO, F15c, F15e Pilot/WSO, F16, and Mirage 2000. Requirements: Mic, 18+ (we can work 16+, but we will interview you), Be able to purchase maps like Syria/Nevada/Persian Gulf, If you fly F18 or F14 you must have Super Carrier, Be able to show up to missions We Are a NA based Squadron and our op times are at 9pm EST on Wednesdays. We also host Arma ops that correlate to the DCS ops every Thursday at 9pm EST. We do like to have fun and also randomly hold game nights to have fun. If you do wish to join the group keep please the time zone in mind as well as the following rules. Take Missions seriously and don't purposely throw the mission. While we are not a full blown realism unit, we would still qualify us as MilSim. Our playstyle is set up for people who want to fly a realistic campaign in DCS without joining a full blown realism unit. You will be expected to talk on the radio relatively correctly and to take the scenarios seriously. We will not have a rank structure nor a chain of command. Mods are simply around to moderate, not to boss you around. Before joining the Campaign please pick an aircraft you are willing to fully commit to. This should be an aircraft that you are either willing to learn or are already proficient in. This aircraft should also be something that you are willing to fly for the main campaigns in the group. Due to the nature of DCS we would prefer people to stick to an aircraft. That being said, there will be opportunities in fun events/side missions for people to fly other aircraft, as well as different campaigns that may require different aircraft. You will not be allowed to fly in the campaign unless you picked an aircraft ahead of time. Before playing the campaign with us you must complete a check flight. This is not a daunting task and we don't want to fail you. We just want to know that you are confident enough in your airframe to fly in a mission. We require an attendance rate of 2 Ops per month. If you do not meet this rate you will be removed from the group. There are obvious exceptions to this such as family issues/a college class that got scheduled for that time. We are not expecting you to sacrifice your real life for this group, but you joined the group to play, so play. People who have just joined and have not passed their check flight have 1 week to at least attempt a check flight (if no one can do your check flight in that week for some reason an exception will be made) if you do not pass this check flight, the week resets. Once again, we are not expecting you to sacrifice your real life for this group, but you joined to play. Squadron Website: http://www.wew-lads.com/ Squadron Discord: https://discord.gg/gs8HqSRE8w

It's been a long long time since I opined about new aircraft modules, because DCS has met and far exceeded my every expectation with all the current and known future aircraft. However, since the days of Sid Meier and MicroProse I have always had fun flying the Stealth Fighter or the F-117A Nighthawk. I think this would be a great module! And the gameplay would a little different from all the other 3rd and 4th gen fighters! CB
