  1. Thanks for that reply. I think my question was more about how PRMG works from an implementation point of view rather than how to use in game; I feel comfortable flying PRMG approaches in the Caucasus map. The question I had was more so this: does your (fantastic) work implementing RSBN into the Afghanistan map also allow us to fly PRMG approaches? As I can't seem to fly PRMG approaches in Afghanistan, I would assume not, but was curious if you had any more experienced insights into this. Thanks in advance for anything further you could add here
  2. Thanks for putting this together - it's really opened up the Afghan map for me. I was curious if you had any insights into how the PRMG landing system works in DCS, to say, could we replicate it for the Afghan map too on the back of RSBNs, or is this a whole other thing? Certainly not crucial, but alongside RSBNs it would be a fantastic tool to take advantage of in game. Again, bravo for your hard work here!
  3. Looking forward to this! Any updates, or insights you can provide ahead of the July release? Great job!
  4. Just wanted to add that I've also dealt with this issue. Poor DCS support has copped it from me - I've been reinstalling drivers, BIOS updates, etc etc. Decided to pause NordVPN and it works. Absolutely the most frustrated I've ever been with DCS (noting it's not DCS' fault). If there's no easy work around with NordVPN I'm going to switch to another VPN provider.
  5. Goodness me, such a shame there isn't any good content for it so far. I'd be willing to pay competent mission builders to put a few basic single missions together for me. I wonder if others have commissioned content like this?
  6. Hello all, Thought I would ask if anyone was aware of any Soviet content for DCS Afghanistan? User files is pretty light on (mostly OEF focussed), and it feels like we're missing a huge piece of the 1979-88 conflict there. If anyone knows of anything (using any platform) or is aware of anything in development, I'd love to hear about it. I'm certainly ready to throw a few dollars at any quality content.
  7. Thanks for all your replies and thoughts here. I'm using the DCS force trim only - i.e. my Rhino force trim setting is off. I'll keep trying to work through some suggested fixes and report back here if I crack it.
  8. I think it could be, but I revisted the Apache because of the fix to the pedals sensitivity - that's to say that I haven't played it a lot recently and couldn't say conclusively if the issue I have is related to this patch. Still, it's the first time I've seen it, and I really am convinced it's a DCS setting. Always happy to be corrected though.
  9. Stick is definitely balanced - it's fine with other DCS aircraft (and other sims). This is a software input causing the trim function to slightly pitch aft when released.
  10. Hi all, I'm noticing something annoying with using trim on the Apache with my FFB Rhino. Whenever I engage the trim function and release it, it causes a slight aft trim setting, almost felt as a pulse. If I quickly engage and disengage the trim button, this will cause the aircraft nose to pitch up significantly. Another example is when I'm triming for level flight and engage trim - the cyclic won't remain where I've released the trim, but be further aft causing a slight climb. I can't replicate this issue with any other DCS helicopter, and changing the trim settings in special tab has no effect. Is anyone else having this issue? It feels like the SCAS doing something intentional rather than a settings issue (though happy to be corrected). (Incidentally, it's good to see they've taken some of the ridiculous sensitivity out of the pedals)
  11. I honestly don't understand the tone of this response. This person claims to be a German Air Force member currently working in Iraq, and has provided an earnest and relevant appraisal of the recently released DCS Iraq map. Your response comes across as inordinately pithy and adds no real value to the discussion, and I'd encourage you to reflect on the purpose for writing it. This community thrives when we allow room for robust discussion and while rebuttal and counter commentary is important, it seems awfulyl apparent to me that this response falls far short of that. That aside, as someone else who has spent a significant part of his working life in Iraq, I am absolutely thrilled at the quality of this map, and feel that Ed has done a wonderful job in putting this together. It's hard to read the constant online criticism of DCS at times, but looking at how far this community has evolved from the early days until now is marvelous! It's getting to the point where I'd even welcome some non-combat fixed and rotary wing assets to simply enjoy the views flying around parts of the world that are so well modelled, but that we have so much variety in this sandbox is fantastic. Great work Ed! Looking forward to the future of DCS.
  12. Thanks for your reply @Hiob. It turns out my Window's Defender Firewall had randomly created a rule to block inbound/outbound DCS-MT executables. Removed and working again.
  13. Hi all, I have a weird issue that seems to be recurring. For some reason when I start my computer, the DCS shortcut (for the multithreaded executable) has been deleted, and so has the executable from the bin-mt folder. I have to run a full repair, in which case it replaces the files, I make new shortcuts, and everything is good again for a few days. Then it deletes again. Incidentally the non-MT executable doesn't delete at all. I'm really confused about this, and was hoping someone could assist me to prevent it happening again in future.
  14. No matter what I do, in direct mode I can't get the Shrikes to track. I've tried the SA2 and SA6 radars, and using the correct seeker heads (Mk 25 and 49 respectively), and have tried all kinds of attack profiles. I'm getting good tone in all shoots, I'm firing well within the range and from various altitudes and angles - the missiles just won't track for me... Edit: I just tried a Mk 25 seeker on the SA6, and although I got no tone both tracked and killed the radar. Something is obviously borked here and needs looking at.
  15. Absolutely the best campaign I've yet seen in DCS. We've never had this degree of customability in mission, and we need more of this high standard of campaign and missions going forward. The only thing I would love to see is an option to use more than the dot labels. While I appreciate realism is key, and this campaign delivers in spades, many of us use DCS with certain assists - typically and only labels from those available - for a range of reasons and not least to compensate for the inability to observe as one does in real life. @ChillNG, my friend, you get a resounding five stars for this fantastic and engaging work of art, but I do wish you'd allow us to choose how we fly and fight your campaign, and specifically allow us control over something as critical as labels. That said well done.
  16. Well, eight years later and ED are finally bringing us the S-60!
  17. Hi all, Just wanted to share my fondness of the (currently) sole single mission available in the Syria map. I've always liked missions like these - plausible rotor recovery supported by fixed wing - and so I bring a personal bias to this appreciation but wanted to share it nonetheless. I also spent part of 2015 in Iraq, and the Russians were always a bit of a mystery to us, so it's nice to explore this unknown side of a personal experience I've had. It's a wonderfully uncomplicated mission (for some DCS efforts) that forces you to focus on proper flying, procedure and coordination, and also brings in a healthy dose of immersion with the fact missions like these are true world. Below is a link to a short and fascinating documentary (*cough* propaganda) of the Russian's rotary wing efforts in Syria: Happy flying all. Wizz
  18. Hello all, Just curious if anyone had any insight into when Syria will make its move to DCS Stable (yes yes "two more weeks" etc...). I know it's been in OB for a while, but this now seems an inordinately long period, and the last two modules I patiently waited for (F14 and F16) seemed to swiftly arrive in stable, and for the latter still in a very raw state. I've been here since since Moses was a child - I understand the OB-Stable matriculation - and will always continue to support this great platform, but this great marketing build up and delay moving into stable has been a touch frustrating. If any you more informed chaps can help out it would be appreciated. The Syria map looks like a great module from Agra and I can't wait to start using it. Cheers, Wizz

  21. +1 Such an immersion killer with out it. Goodness knows why Ed hasn't implemented it in a nearly ten year old flagship product...
  22. Ah I thought that might have been the issue. Thanks for clearing that up Draconus. Sounds like a good excuse to get another SSD so I can fit both versions on my computer.
  23. I should note that I'm only running the latest DCS stable (2.5.6) and not Beta version.
  24. Hi Kaba, all, I'm having the same issue with CTB and Supercarrier (i.e. the cold start campaign still has the default carrier). Screenshot attached showing the available F-14 campaigns. DCS Supercarrier is enabled and used regularly with other mission types. I've installed DCS F-14 and then Supercarrier as they were released, but I'm not sure if I need to do something else. Any help would be much appreciated to use this great new module in this fantastic campaign.
  25. Hi all, I've done my due diligence and tried finding an answer to my question, but to no avail. I don't tend to post here unless I'm really stuck. My question is this: does anyone know of any patch or other practical method of switching out the standard DCS carrier for the Supercarrier? It would be great if this was possible to play pre-Supercarrier missions (effectively all of them) with this fantastic new module. I'm not a mission/campaign designer, so I'm unsure of the practicalities of this, but I thought it worth asking. I assume one could individually edit the missions though this seems onerous. Thanks in advance for any insight. Happy flying to all!
