Hi all, I've done my due diligence and tried finding an answer to my question, but to no avail. I don't tend to post here unless I'm really stuck. My question is this: does anyone know of any patch or other practical method of switching out the standard DCS carrier for the Supercarrier? It would be great if this was possible to play pre-Supercarrier missions (effectively all of them) with this fantastic new module. I'm not a mission/campaign designer, so I'm unsure of the practicalities of this, but I thought it worth asking. I assume one could individually edit the missions though this seems onerous. Thanks in advance for any insight. Happy flying to all!

Hi all, This is long overdue, but I'm attaching here a translated copy of the Mig-21 chapter from Vicktor Markovsky's ‘Burnt Skies of Afghanistan: Military Aviation in the Afghan War', an account of Soviet airpower in the 1979-1988 Afghan intervention. In the grips of my DCS Mig-21 obsession upon release, and having served in Afghanistan myself as a young army captain, I paid a freelancer to translate the aforementioned chapter. The translation isn't great, but I hope anyone that wants to make use of it can. Best wishes to you all. For all of those still flying the Mig-21 on DCS, I wish you a special blessing for final approach! Regards, Wizz Burnt Skies of Afghanistan MiG21- RUS-ENG.pdf

Heatblur Development Update - Thunder & Cat

Thank you guys for these updates. Aside from being the best module currently available for DCS, I think it's fair to say your engagement with the community is the benchmark standard. I can't help smiling that you guys have come along and really taken the wind out of Ed's sails! While we're all on the same team, and I happily have the Hornet and Viper at my fingertips, the F-14B has really just been a first class show and shown what's possible! You guys rock. -
'Watch the Devildogs' is the finest mission I've ever played in DCS. I bring a heavy F-14B bias to this, but to have the chance to drop GBUs without stepping into the back seat is huge. What a great mission guys. Please do more!

HB, it sounds like you've never worked for an intelligence community, in particular a foreign collector. I wouldn't over estimate the value of tools like these for use in training opposing force elements; whether they have armfuls of published performance data, it's not quite the same as having contemporary aviators comment that everything is 1:1. Of course certain things are going to be restricted - and for very good reason. ED and Wags - all I can say is wow! This thing is a real beauty, and your dedication to bring this to the community at this stage is magnificent. I'm personally loving the CAS instant action mission with its dynamic threat picture. We truly are in a golden age of flight sims!

Nice to see the SA-2 finally making it into DCS! All we need now is some medium calibre guns (ZSU-57-2? :) ).
-
Thanks BIGNEWY! Just ran through the first mission without a single issue (ok, right up until the landing ;) ).
-
Whoops! It's a good thing there is so much excellent campaign doc reading to do in the meantime :) Logs.zip

Thanks for the offer of assistance BIGNEWY - it's really appreciated! I've attached four zipped crash logs which hopefully tell the story DCS.openalpha-Crash-20170730-071252.zip DCS.openalpha-Crash-20170730-070800.zip DCS.openalpha-Crash-20170730-070150.zip DCS.openalpha-Crash-20170730-065740.zip

Hi all, this looks like a fantastic campaign, but I seem to be having an issue with CTD when I start the first mission. It's never at the same point (though usually within the first five minutes) and appears graphics/RAM related with the huge number of assets in the mission. 1. Full system specs: i7-6700K, 16 GB RAM, GTX 980 Ti, Windows 7 (64), 1TB SSD, Rift 2. Graphics setting is VR default, with shadows set to flat 3. Game resolution is whatever is VR/rift default setting If anyone has any tips on bumping down settings that would be great. I'm sure there's something I can tweak so I can get underway! :) Thanks in advance.

Here's to a smooth transition gentlemen

Here I was sneaking around various servers in my F-5E, radar off, getting the odd gunshot on a Flanker or Eagle, and you legends are just murdering anything airborne from the humble (or maybe not so humble) Gazelle! Keep these videos coming! :megalol:

Episode 4 at 11:57: "These Gazelles are fook-ing deadly" Funniest thing I have ever heard in DCS!:megalol::thumbup: Awesome skills!

Just a shout out to Sabre-TLA for putting this beauty together! To be honest, I didn't think it would my cup of tea, but it has been a fantastic experience that links two of my favourite aspects in DCS: as accurate as possible operation of the aircraft (including following, in this case, range rules and deconfliction etc --noise avoidance areas in Nevada! hahaha yes please!), and head turning dog fighting. I've been waking up with a sore neck recently, and that's all thanks to the Oculus Rift induced twisting and turning as something shoots over my canopy at 500 knots! Really fun and enjoyable and in an aircraft that has been fantastically straight forward to get up to speed in. Seeing skilled mission designers put together quality DLC campaigns has been a much needed and thoroughly enjoyable aspect to the DCS experience in the last 12-24 months. I hope for everyone's sake it continues! Thanks to all for bringing the F-5E Aggressors BFM Campaign to life!

Oh my god Sporg - that's it! After I watched it a year ago I couldn't find it (I'm not sure why). I am genuinely blown away that you posted that after my comment! Wowza...

This is a great video! It reminds of a (I think now deleted) BMS video with two multiplayer European pilots flying an Op OPERA style interdiction mission against a middle-eastern power plant target, and also the Hanoi bombing scene in Flight of the Intruder (see below). It's nice to see such a professional video that really makes you appreciate not only the quality of the aircraft but the skill of the pilot (didn't know you had it in you Wags!). We trust that the bombs came off the rack, but if they didn't, and you feel bad, check out 4:20-50 in the video below (it happens ).

I have to share this message here, despite the fact that there are a hundred just like it and it isn't contributing to the discussion. But, wow. Simply wow. Oculus Rift and DCS has just left me walking away feeling like I have finally crossed the line of immersion. Even with some resolution issues, I can't believe how much my mind 'believes' that I am zooming towards the ground at 700 knots with a commensurate feeling of fear and reality. Maybe this is something you get used to (!) though in the interim I'm just happy that this wonderful community is well and truly into the golden age of this hobby! That's all! I'm off to spin around vegas in the F-5E :bye_2:

Next to the FA/18C (and Hormuz map), I am the most excited about the F-5E! It will be great to step into a fantastically able and accomplished aircraft that we all know Belsimtek will treat properly! Bring it on! :)

+1. Awesome campaign though. The briefings make it feel so incredibly real. It's great having some real world experience worked into the way it unfolds!

Hi theGozr. Just curious if the issue of i7-2600 Oculus compatibility is correct. The Oculus recommendations (https://support.oculus.com/hc/en-us/articles/215526337) are as follows: For the Oculus Rift to perform at an optimal level with your computer, we recommend an Intel i5-4590 CPU or greater.

2016 Hardware Benchmark - DCS World 1.5.x
Wizz replied to tiborrr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
For what's it's worth, I think this is a great idea. Niko, winter climbing is cancelled! - If not Ed; one us here in the forum will get you a Nevada key! Anyone have a spare? -
2016 Hardware Benchmark - DCS World 1.5.x
Wizz replied to tiborrr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you so much for this tiborrr! :) I'm in the process of purchasing a new PC, and have been erring about whether to buy now, or wait until the next gen Nvidia cards come out. My main purpose in upgrading is to obtain a quality DCS 4k experience, or, at the very least, WQHD. This testing has been invaluable for me in assisting with this decision. I've been erring because I'm not sure an upgrade is worth it for just WQHD. I know you purists probably cringe at people like me buying pre-builds, but I just can't put the whole thing together myself without screwing something up! I'm looking at getting the following (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/34077), and would be really curious about other opinions on 4k playability (let's assume I also buy a good g-synch etc monitor as well) with a 980Ti. I understand it's a way off being current 1080 smooth, but what luck are others having at 4K? This is a great benchmark for me to come to my own conclusions, but others must be exposing comparable rigs to other DCS scenarios. Sorry to highjack this thread - this is a fantastic forum post by tiborrr, and has really helped me out! Thank you! -
Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
Wizz replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
I get everyone is different, but I would prefer as much realism as possible, and for me this includes real state and non-state actors. It just robs so much immersion to be flying around in a campaign that has no depth outside of mission briefings. Regardless this looks like a good campaign (however it keeps crashing on mission 2 when flying the first waypoint). -
Thankyou!
