    Mig-25PD

+1 A MiG-25 (any variant, but a reconnaissance [RP or RPS perhaps?] type maybe) would be deluxe, and bring a new angle to DCS. :) However, if the initial brief insights into the (oh my goodness amazing looking!) MiG-21Bis are anything to go by, the supposed simplicity in going back in time appears to be defeated by the ingenious (and often quirky) technology that was present; particularly for the Russian jets. Could be fun :)
  2. Hi all, having just gone through some heart-ache with trying to work the radios (contacting ATC like everyone appears to be having trouble with), I can say I've found a solution. Assuming you have the correct frequency, radios powered, throat-mike off, AM selected etc, you need to access the correct radio menu. I.e., accessing the radio menu from the normal '\' key doesn't cut it. You need to use the actual cyclic radio trigger button, which will have the radio type as a heading when selected (the other menu won't have anything). No doubt many will have this worked out already, but I haven't heard it mentioned in the numerous radio threads, and thought I would list it here.
  3. Yeah, the delays are frustrating. But wow! A MiG-21 developed directly (in part) by a real (and current) Fishbed driver. Holy smokes! :O I can't wait. Haven't been this excited and nervous over a release in years.

    Release??

Noting Dolphin's advice on release - it would still be great to make a debut on the 21st! Of course these things take time, and I have no doubt we will all get a great product when it is finally released. Let it come when it comes. The Leatherneck team have been fantastic, and I think they should be proud of what they've done and how they've communicated with everyone. Bravo.
  5. No doubt you learned gentlemen would be aware of this, but I've only just discovered that a large portion of Chechnya (Grozny inclusive) is actually contained in the DCS Caucasus map. Of course, there is no structure modelling, so it's all open space - but it is still Chechnya. Chechnya occupies the majority of MGRS 38T NN, with Grozny effectively centred on MGRS 38T NN 79. I'm the first to cry out for new terrain, but it would be grand if they could model this element of the map! Then I can start flying around with that KA-27 and playing at real KA-50 operations! ;)

    Looks awesome! :)

  8. Beczl, simply in awe mate! heavier AAA systems are one thing I think the DCS world is really screaming out for. Looking forward to rolling that 21 through a decent barrage! ;)
  9. Wow! This has made me a better pilot already. Orbiting and controlling your wingmen as the flight lead or OA-10C is fantastic fun! They really are part of my game now and not just mindless drones behind me! :) Ack all the quick response from Matt. What a fantastic fellow to have leading the way.

    SAM Simulator

I've been trying to shoot down a B-52 in the Linebacker II mission, and so far haven't hit a thing! I'm sure I've scared them though...( ) Maybe you can provide some guidance jazjar, given how easily it came to you the very first time...
  11. I wonder is Clint Eastwood is covertly moving through Eastern Europe and towards the T-50? :)
  12. CAPT Miller (Tom Hanks) destroyed a Tiger Tank with just a pistol! :)
  13. igormk - fantastic work! I have played through all missions (far from completing everything properly) and must say I am blown away. I love the realistic 'on station' aspects of the missions where you are occupying a time window for potential support, inclusion of ROE and the fluid nature of the missions that require manual inflight nav updates. Other than cringing everytime 'Air Force' instead of 'Army' is mentioned :), I love it. I think there are some (very) minor detail issues (terminology, spelling etc) but not enough to detract from a well thought out and executed campaign. Certainly 1000% better than anything I could put together!
  14. I have a Cougar HOTAS setup and it works fine for me. Try playing around with the axis settings. A little deadzone makes for a larger 'center' for the stick to hit.
  15. Does anyone remember the game JSF? (where you flew the X-32 and X-35). Once you ejected and landed you could walk around and shoot your pistol. Of course this was merely a novelty and had no practical value!
  16. I think it's a fantastic idea. One of the reasons I loved DI's Hind so much was the ability to move troops/casualties around in a realistic setting. Pulling collective as Afghan dust and RPGs fly around... bliss! There are very few (comparatively) games that combine combat and flying in this capacity. You're either launching a ton of missiles on the FEBA or flying around Meigs airfield doing nothing.
  17. I had a similar issue with this mission and couldn't work out why I was suffering an engine failure halfway through the mission. I finally realised I wasn't correctly turning on the engine de-ice system, but instead was only selecting the dust protection. This is a three way switch and once I realised this stupid mistake I was fine!
  18. Ah, don't use notepad to edit files as it corrupts them. Use Notepad++ instead.
  19. Howdy all, Small problem that I hope someone can help me with. When trying to edit the Airdromes.lua file for real frequencies (in accordance with guidance from page 8-2 of the pilot manual) I can't play the game (i.e. in cockpit). I am changing the standard 12750000 number to the recommend one from the list above. Has anyone had succes with this (or alternatively now of a mod to try and fix?). I've searched the forum to no avail so over to you experts!
