  1. Some people dont like the MS FF2 stick but to me its a great. Oke, it not a HOTAS stick but still its got a good grip, has good ForceFeedback, programmable buttons etc. ( I'd like an Saitek X52 though). Overall the MSFF2 is a good stick to use. If u cant/wont fork out for a HOTAS stick then try to pick up an MSFF2 from somewhere.
  2. Hi Evil, thanx for your advice! :) I have read some positive reviews about that Asrock mobo and just ordered it plus a Athlon Xp3200+ 64-bit pocessor. Thanx to the Asrock mobo i save €400 becos i paid €229 (and not €650 as per original specs incl. new PCIe gfx card)for the Asrock mobo + CPU . This is the third system upgrade in 2.5 years (started on Athlon700Mhz 512Mb RAM with geforce4 MX) -- all in an effort to get lo-mac to run at a descent stable 25fps or more, also in cokpit view above big city scenes with high details. Apparentlyley video images on Television broadcast/DVD-films etc runs at 25fps so thats cool to me.. and thats what i want lo-mac to run with. In a later post you mentioned that lo-mac is limited to using about 1Gig memory, dont use too much Gfx card memory too. I can agree on that (not tested thoroughly yet) and that lo-mac is dependant on CPU power. Makes me think that ED has built lo-mac codebase to be easily portable to other archtecture/CPU's.. Anyways, in a day or 2 my new hardware will be at home and then i will see if theres any change in FPS.
  3. Hi Evli scotsman, thanx for your in I watched your benchmarking thread somewhere else in the tech discussions, about SLI'ing dual 7800's then it made me wonder if a descent gfxcard is worth the money for lo-mac. It seems that CPU is probably the big thing in lo-mac framerates? I get about 50fps or so with external views, but in cokpit not more than 20fps, with mirros at medium the framerates are 12fps or less. Initially i will not go SLI as thats not in my budget now, though, i want a system that can go SLI in two years or so. If u buy now i wanna invest into a longterm usage machine which can be used for about a year 3. Prbelm is myt cash is rather limited.:icon_roll. But, thanx guys for your info, i am sure other lo-mac pilots are following this thread too, all help are appreciated.
  4. hi guys, This must be the umpteenth time someask for advice, but this advice is needed for a system which would be used 70% for playing lo-mac and not much else. I'd like to upgrade my computer system specifically to get more FPS in lo-mac. ATM my setup is a Asus A7Kv600 mobo with Athlon XP3200+ CPU, Geforce 6600GT (AGP, not PCIe) card and a total of 1.5Gb DDr400 PC3200 memory. Theres nothing to complain about this setup :P as Battelfield2, Doom3 runs very nice at the max resolution of 1280*960, which my monitor can support. My primary use of my comp is Lock On (and email). At present i have about <=17fps or so with all details in lo-mac maxed out, except engine heatblur and water to medium. My windowsXP installation is pretty clean, no funny background processes. I'd like lo-mac to always run at *least* 25fps, or more, with all details to max. Somehow it seems that many peeps are getting 120fps ingame or more in lo-mac, hows that possible? My future comp would probably be a 64-bit Athlon XP 3200+ with ASUS SLI mobo, 1.5Gig PC3200 memory and Nvidia 6800GT (Ultra). After having done some research the upgrade costs are averaging about €600 (new mobo, CPU and PCIe gfx card). My questions: 1. My bdget is maxed at €620. What are the viable options? 2. What are you guys' experience regarding upgrading new cpu + gfx card? 3. Would overcloking +cooling of my current gfxcard and CPU not be more cost effective? 4. What are the merits of a 6800GT 256Mb card versus 7800GT 256Mb card? I know the latter is faster but the price... Financialy i'd like to be conservative though have a comp which would run lo-mac1.2 without a hitch. Any comments and becnhmarks appreciated.
  5. Sumwhere on this forum a month or 10, or more ago, sum1 (perhaps it was Swingkid?) once said that ED had contracted an external company to create the map for lo-mac. ED apparentley posess the technical specs about how it works but they wont release the technical details publicly. They are afraid sum1 else copies this idea and uses it in a competing product. It was mentioned in that post (cant find it now) is that the likelihood of ED releasing any info about how to create, or extend maps, vehicles, or anything map-related is for the forseeable future close to nihil:icon_frow. At the very least as a community effort suom1 could try to make a default map containing some structures around turkey, Romania and bulgaria. The very least we could HOPE for is if ED could populate the are around turkey, Romania, Bulgaria with some ground objects, or roads. Maybe if we beg and pray ED would do that?
  6. Hai, could you provide a link to a full ZIP-archive containing everything needed to run your ATC? Does it ned a .LUA script to run?
  7. The 159 fighter-regiment on SEAD training. We are recruiting, sign up on our Forum.
  8. I gueess its my luck that my girlfriend is russian :p , and she doesnt mind me flying lo-mac, coz, it helps my russian language skills . Besides, she sometimes comes to have a look at me flying and even translates for me. I wonder how long this fascination of her with lo-mac will last?
  9. Flanker 2.51 upon which lo-mac is a successor had a ground radar mode for both the Su-27 and Su-33 which they in RL apparentley dont have. So, in theory, a ground radar is possible in lo-mac. The (programming)code must still be floating around in the lo-mac code, but disabled. ED, what are the chances of making the SU-30 a flyable. It does have a groundradar, doesnt it? Apparently its cokpit is similair to the su-27. But, knowing the perfectionists which ED are, they wont give us a (another russian) ground attackplane capable of flying anti-ship strikes? Bring back some Flanker2.51 functionality, please?:icon_pall
  10. The http://159fighter-regiment.co.uk recently conducted Operation Blue flag training exercise. We are recruiting too. Signup on our forum. Parrotman coming in hot to take out a Patriot site: Dorsk, Spetz and Shallow-G heading back to home base at Airbase Krymsk.
  11. yes, i unpause the mission but still, client end up in the cokpit with "Waiting for server".
  12. I am in vain trying to host a network game. Pilots connecting to my lo-mac server can join my server fine, but when they are in the cokpit of their plane, there is only a message "Waiting for server". I do not host with hyperlobby. I have running a webserver on my computer, which is fine reachable perfectly from internet. My server/connection details are: Router: Wanadoo Livebox. External ip adress: 85.146.152.34 TCP Port 10308 forwarded to 192.168.1.101 (my lomac machine) Lomac version 1.11 With these settings, users can connect, but when they are in the cokpit, the message "Waiting for server" does not disappear. They can see me in the plane next to them, though but thats it. Any ideas? TIA.
  13. The Su-33 most definitley lost its autopilot autorefuel in 1.1. But, huh?? Can the F15 automagically refuel in 1.1? has the behaviour been unchanged since 1.02?
  14. Does anyone have any clue on how to refuel the F-15C in lo-mac 1.1?? In the Su-33 its pretty easy, the circle-cue on the HUD makes plugging into the tanker basket no problem :D . Which indicators are on the F-15C HUD? I cant find any thing except on the top left of the HUD some counter which seems to indcate either a distance or speed or simething. Ironhand had a nice training track for 1.02 :) but since 1.1 doesnt feature robotic refuel anymore that track is useless now. All help appreciated.
  15. Still, even if i need to reactivate 200,000 times they need to ensure that my lo-mac continues to be able to run and install. I am a supporter of lo-mac, being the only modern combat sim around, but why should we the honest people suffer?? Rather, why do they make their problem my problem..?
  16. End of discussion, it will be released when its ready. OR let the whining start.
  17. The avergae console gamer doesnt want full-on realism -- learning a few hundred keystrokes/combinations, for example to launch a AIM-7 he will definitley not wanna do that in a console game. Its for maass market. They will probably seel as many units of acecombat in one day as all of lomac in the past >2,5 years :icon_roll .
  18. Some day, in the very distant future, hopefully ED will include the MiG-29K as a official flyable. In the same time. If ED could, allow non AI's to use semi-active radarguided missiles such as the Kh-31A in the MiG-29K. The air-ground-radar code should still be somehwere in lomac, bcoz it was present in Flanker 2.5. Ahh well, its only dreaming..
  19. Georgia also have Su-25T's which can launch Kh-58's for SEAD, one can put Georgia on BLUE.
  20. Hey Alfa, i am very excited that you are working on a 1.1-version of the MiG-29K mod. When will it be released.. any speculations? :icon_redf
  21. At some stage, either in this thread or another, someone posted a picture, regarding a MirageF1 manual 1990-edition of the South African Airforce. I cant really remember if the manual was available as download, purchuse or owned by a private individual.
  22. One could do this, when you have the Merzifon mod/addon from by Swingkid is installed, one flies in a deserted landscape. It would be great if someone could volunteer to make a template mission map, containing groundobjects to resemble towns in the region of Turkey. 666th_Birdie's trees mod could add some nice trees. Using the current missioneditor("ME") it would be a tedious, laborous task :icon_hang to do. If the ME could accept templates, or copy groups of objects one could easily populate the deserted Turkey, Bulgaria to make decent landscapes. Who will be the brave soul who would attempt that feat?
  23. Have anyone else perhaps downloaded that file, and mirrored?
  24. Most definitley i want the russian cyrillic. My girlfriend is russian too :icon_pray so thats another reason to stay on russian :icon_syda .
  25. Do i see smoke trails from the MiG-29, such as they make in RL?? :)
