This is nothing uncommon, on russian TV-channel "Vesti" often are informational TV-reports about the greatness of the russian airforce. My g/f transliterates the russian language commentary to me of those reports. In one report they showed that Tu-95's departed from ??Kamchatka peninsula?? then nearly encircled Japan before heading back to base. During the same night a few Tu-95's deaprting from the same base briefly unchallenged penetrated US airspace south-west of Alaska. The crews of those planes were later congratulated by base command :).

Lockon Operation Red Flag/Combined Air Exercise
pappavis replied to Fudd's topic in User Created Missions General
For those who didnt make it, or was absent: you missed out on one of the coolest online community events ever undertaken! OMG this was sooooo great much fun. . -
After many months of doing nothing some new ideas came to mind. I am reverse engineering Lockon's mission editor library, the MOMlib.dll, into a class model. For the community there's no sign of Black Shark anytime soon. So why not continue on this editor? That way to give a visual representation of the structure. So far here are some very initially things that i have done. For those into the tech details; * An XML-Schema's representation (incomplete!!) download for a lockon mission (LO uses XML to store mission files). * Example missionfile as XML, ripped from the Su-25T arty hunt mission. The MOMlib class model, after 10 minutes of reverse engineering. The XSD visual representation. The missionfile, visually.

ED plans some new MissionEditor faciltities for BS, but, bcos the release of BS has been delayed (will it be released, in my lifetime?) how are you progressing on your mission-editor?

Lo-mac uses a internal co-ordinates than which isnt directly mapped to the real-world GPS-coordinates. Should u so desire to to link RealWorld to Lo-mac Krimea, then u need to do some math conversions. Check out Lockon mapeditor, some maths help needed thread, which have information about co-ordinates and math formula's;

Russia Orders dozens of Ka-50 and 52 Helos
pappavis replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
nope, its the Borei-class http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%B5_%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%BA%D0%B8_%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%82%D0%B0_955_%C2%AB%D0%91%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B9%C2%BB -
Well spotted! Can it be that its the same plane, as the one featured in my first post? The picture with it and 2 Cheetahs was made in 1996. Could that frame 709 have been a Su-27 upgraded to Su-35? During the period of 1996, 1997 the Suid-Afrikaanse Lugmag (SALM) did evaluate some candidates to repace their Mirage F1's possibly the Su-35 was a initial candiate as well? In the end the Saab Gripen was chosen for the SALM. Here it is flying in the Republiek van Suid-Afrika. And this shot from above:

I recently discovred this picture (made in 1996), a Russian Airforce Su-27 in flight with 2 Cheetah' from the SALM (Suid-Afrikaanse Lugmag). Who would volunteer to skin this Su-27? :helpsmilie:
-
wait for it, it's coming..
-
Here are a few shots of the total of 16 different :D Su-25T skins i have installed. [Edit] Only 2 skins featured, other screenshots 'Coming soon'. Credits to: The various great skinmakers which beautifies my Su-25T. [/Edit]

No idea what that is, besides, your trying to use a Kh-31A which no-way cant be employed by with human pilots in Lo-mac 1.1. Waaaay back in the days of Flanker 2.51 the Kh-31A and Kh-31P was kaunchable by a human pilot but not anymore. The only antiship missile available for a human pilot in Lo-mac is the Kh-58 on a Su-25T.

judging by the number of people choosing to fly asu-25(T) online makes me wonder how many people really want a ka-50? As for myself since the release of the Su-25T i very seldom fly a Su-27/F-15. I am too much having fun with the complexities of AFM. Really, invest some quality time into the Su-25T, it should keep you busy long enough untill black shark is (eventually) released.

you should get in contact with 666th_birdy he has done what you are looking for. Search the forums for the " trees mod" which should have more info about CLSID's etc.
-
nice group attackruns, nice show of both A2A and A2G capabilities of the Su-27, great music and atmosfere, plus a few cobra-tricks taken over from L0csta's videos. Overall: Holy cr@p we want more of this good stuff! :D .

going kinda OT Speaking in general terms about gaming, the real "hard core" players are those who (activley) participate in online (game) forums. The General Public-gamer seldom visits a forum let alone post anything, they play the game and thats it. But on forums the real dedicated folks interact with each other. In present times a official forum is a great way for the devleoper of a game to stay in contact with their fanbase. its a great source of information about what people (dont) want etc etc. Besides, the great talents which can make models usually hangs out at forums like this one. Its a great place to have all talent on 1 centralized location. With that said in all probability sum1 from ED is regularly keeping an eye on the forum to take note about the whishes from the community.
-
And, as experiment, it possibly paves the way for ED to allow te community to add new flyable aircraft / models where we dont have to swap a Su-33 model to fly a F-18.

Blackshark Freelfight video: 1 year anniversary
pappavis replied to pappavis's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
How about a combined Ka-50 and Su-25T, A-10A themed groundsupport movie? The number of Su-25T's featured in movies are close to zero. -
Have anyone noticed how fast the time have flow, since nearly exactly 1 year ago? ED have released the blackshark freeflight videoclip on 15-2-2006  Time certainly goes by very fast. I am sure when BS hits the market it will be everyithing most of us would wanted from a helo-sim. Also, hope that ED releases a Blackshark Gold incl. of the full <=1.02 + Su-25T.
-
The Rooivalk is a Helo designed, vred and built in SouthAfrica. yes, you read correct in the continent AFRiKA ;).
-
Rather well scenematic film. I liked the far awaay shots which gave a sensation of how fast the Su-25T was flying. Besides these are one of the very few Su-25(T) films out there. Well done.

Plz Need help about the language in the game
pappavis replied to Sasha2k's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
u can easily change just about 98% of the language texts quite easily. Open the <lockon folder>\1C\FUI\RussianVersion and look at the files therein. You need to either replace a english / german verion of the files therein with the default installed files. I am as a South African have translated the English language file to Afrikaans so a <whateverversion> language would be possible too. Consider, that when ED updates the game they almost always replace the the language files too ;).
