  5. I posted some info here , after some testing it appears that tanker orbiting is broken unless you place no wind near the tankers altitude. Here is a mission file with just a tanker set up to transmit on 131.0 AM and radiate air to air tacan on channel 10X. KC-135 will hit a waypoint then set up a race-track orbit. Points to note: Set tanker speed at 460k/hr, set his fuel state to 50% max (so he can fly slower). To use radios to call him make sure you switch off your tacan (known bug). tanker test.miz
  6. Why not put a KC135 refueler in there so if you want to make it back to base or loiter longer you'll have to Air to Air refuel. Havent flown mission yet, need to reinstall a10c beta3 (unstable at the mo).
  7. You should be able to play at normal res and playback at the recording res.
  8. I hope you're right. I remember when BS was patched after final release and half my missions needed a rewrite. I do believe features are set in stone so chances are you'll be fine its just that getting the mission balance and playablity right in a Beta is quite hard methinks. I'm seriously looking forward to the release, then I'll be mission writing away.
  9. It really it depends on the mission and whether AAR is available (can offload fuel) but a combo of bombs and missiles but rarely more than 8 plus TGP,ECM and sometimes a couple of AIM-9s. Now only if they would upgrade the engines !!!
  10. I did something similar (no JTAC) for Black SHark. However, not wishing to put your fire out as its always great to have keen mission builders out ther but ... wouldn't it be wise to wait until final release? You may well find that your mission will break each time a new beta comes out. If you don't mind the rewriting & retesting each time then push forward. Also at this stage you really don't know if its the ME and your coding thats causing problems or if there are bugs still involved. Having said that I'd be happy to test it for you though, just post it up.
  11. Most aircraft would have the preset frequencies already set to something sensible like 1) Ground 2) Tower 3) Radar 4) Approach 5) Air to Air 6) etc Would be useful if these were already set at mission start and according to which airfield you started off at.
  12. Make sure you select AM (and not FM) also. Freq is 131.0 AM if I remember correctly. Stoppped messing with it since beta2, so it could be a beta3 problem.

  14. Like my tanker training mission? You have to place each aircraft as a seperate unit. Each with its own set of waypoints. Use the ruler in the ME to space them out correctly and make sure they are all set to the same height and speed. Only works in a straight line, placing subsequent waypoints which involves turns will muck up your formation. Unit Groups do not have a close formation option.
  15. Agreed. 2 player online compatible or 1 player and AI with airborne seat switching possible. Plus lots more. I think DCS should work on some fairly modern fighter aircraft next and leave the heli's alone for a while. The A10c needs an escort fighter !!!

  17. Not quite how I read his post to be honest, but I hope you're right. Website lists JTAC as a feature but funnily enough doesn't even mention multiplayer (not that I could see anyway) as a feature at all.
  18. I think the ME still has some way to go, which is why I am staying clear of it for the moment. The power is there to do lots of things which hopefully they will keep in and not remove in subsequent updates. The orbit then select race-track should work when its fixed as well as the capability to go from waypoint 4 to waypoint 1 based on a flag from a trigger placed over waypoint 4 or possibly some alternative method (there are many). Beta's just pose too many questions when the features are either not working or not yet featured. Personally I cant wait for the final release to be published. I suspect even then there will be a few minor bugs, right now however, there are just too many to give sensible answers to the very many and varied questions.
  19. Oh no, they left the JTAC out !! One of the best and most widely publicised features is being left out of a Sim that is played in great numbers in MP by the community. Shame on you ED.
  20. ED must have a MP feature list fixed by now or is that TOP SECRET in case they have to leave something out too? I can't imagine it would be that hard to make Tanking MP'er compatible. :music_whistling:

  22. I've tried refuelling with a x-52 and to be honest you need AutoPilot. The trick is to make sure Aircraft is in trim before you engage it. Especially pitch. With the TM WH, its good to go without AP. Damn fine stick. I have some old trk files but they are broken with beta3 for some reason. I also find the tanker is more susceptable to disconnect when you are sitting low on tanker. (i.e. when boom is angled downwards quite a lot). I posted some tips on pg11, let me know if they help.
