    Remember, at the time the decisions were being made the F-14A was in early service ... how many of those did they lose to engine issues?
  3. Perhaps if you outlined what disappointed you? For me: * Model is fantastic, both visually and flight, especially feedback it gives * BFM its awesome - difficult, but great fun * CV landings/AAR/Nav - good * A2G - you need a RIO to use LGBs, but dumb bombs work fine - boring though due to limited weapons * BVR - without a RIO still nerfed, especially 1vMultiple - long awaited planned A-TWS will improve.

  6. Yes, a couple of a couple of times ... :( My TEMP environment variable is set to /Temp/SysTemp and DCS creates files in there. Works fine in MP, files get created in Saved Games!

Other possible factors: * I always fly in VR * DCS is in c:\Games which maybe unusual * I always get a 'no debrief error' (I fly the Tomkitty) * I tried deleting my new Saved games folder ... didn't help * Tried flying with the F-15 and same thing ... LastMissionTrack.trk created in the System's temp directory, inside a DCS.openbeta folder, along with a load of txt & bin files * Repair doesn't find any issues * Same with stock instant action mission * Tacviews record ok * MP record ok and stored in tracks/multplayer dcs.log.txt LastMissionTrack.zip

  9. Lastest OB. Play an SP mission and no track gets created in the tracks directory. I've tried a repair. A LastSomthing.trk file is created in the Windows Temp directory. An MP track got created ok. Tried adding an autoexec.cfg file disable_write_track = true ... no difference. Any ideas? Thanks

  11. Anyone else having issues with AAR with the S-3 ... I just could not get it to connect, just kept going through the basket!
  12. For info, I managed a flight in the F-14 ok last night - night over the PG, very nice, but the F-16 crashes every time when I look down. I've deleted the plane and entire game and reinstalled numerous times - same thing. Few of my existing scenarios work as most have triggers which seem to cause issues. Plus I get numerous odd crashes without any apparent reason. Haven't dared venture online with 2.5.6!

  15. still crashes :( The only thing I copied over was the HOTAS configs. Deleted and re-installed from download - took a while. Renamed Saved Games folder, so it created a new one, copied over HOTAS config and created a new mission in the F-16.   16. I personally find the current F-14 Jester menus too big, an immersion breaker and 'in your face' (literally) and much prefer the less intrusive DCS native radio menu system. And why only 8 options? When we use a 10 based number system? A right pain.

  19. Almost every video/podcast of actual ex-F-14 pilots training ACM they comment on how they over-G the jet - every one! The last one said he got an award for a 12G guns kill in training! I think Oki mentioned 11G.
  20. Me too, I love flying the F-14, (a) because its an awesome plane, (b) because its a challenge to fly and © because HB have done such a fantastic job with it. I fly it it almost exclusively. But, at the moment, there are some not insignificant issues, some within HB's control and some with ED. I've been playing since LO days and I am 100% sure both will continue to improve the product - like all things in DCS, it takes a loooong time!

IMHO, HBs F-14 is a fantastic plane to fly in SP, however: * I haven't noticed Jester improve much since release. * In BFM: Ignore Jester, his calls are either delayed or just wrong most of the time - I wish I could figure out what plane of reference he is using! * In BVR: hard work - you have to either try and manage the radar via theJester wheel or via VoiceComms, both of which are too slow in a multi-target environment, even SP. Iv1 BVR is great, except that Jester will invariably lose lock at around 20 miles - a critical distance :( * In AAR switch him off! Hopefully, TWS-Auto will improve the BVR multi-target use sometime 'soon'. You really need a good human RIO to get the most from the F-14 and they are as rare as the Tomcat 21!

  25. Thanks Snappy ... yes, I've flown on those for a while. Excellent servers, but the guns only area can get chaotic at times. I know there are 1v1 areas too (got destroyed by Angry-Farmer on there yesterday). The TAW servers have 1v1 areas, but seem rarely to have players. Are these the only ones?
