    AV-8B LCOS

It would be good to get confirmation of whether it's WIP or not. Interesting - I'd seen the depression comment, but didn't see any mention of the value or reason. Seems fine in A2A (even without the LCOS sight), but in A2G, it's certainly a problem that it seems to be above your FPM ...

    AV-8B LCOS

So, why, if i'm in a hard turn, doesn't the sight move down the HUD a significant amount? As it is, it barely moves ... it doesn't seem to compute any 'lead' at all!
  3. Thanks all ... I think the Razbam have done a great job with the AV-8B, it's so much fun to fly!

    AV-8B LCOS

I've search for images on Google, but there are few showing A2A and its difficult to tell if its an NA or Plus. Definitely a fair few similarities between the FA/18 and AV-8B in how systems work ... makes a lot of sense.

    AV-8B LCOS

That's great Dave, but the question is, does the NA have a better sight in RL than just a near-fixed cross?

    AV-8B LCOS

I'm just surprised that, even without radar, the NAs don't all have a funnel sight ... and the text seems to suggest they might. It is after all a fairly sophisticated HUD.
  7. In FSG for VMAT-203, it says that one of the dangers with the AV-8B landing is when the flaps fully deploy: 'At the 180 position the pilot starts the approach turn descent and as the aircraft finally decelerates through the 165 KCAS the flaps program from 25° to 62° near instantly causing a strong nose down pitching moment. (Page 62).' I get the opposite when the flaps transition, ie. a large pitch up ... anyone any thoughts on this?

    AV-8B LCOS

I've done a fair amount of guns A2A in the harrier and love it ... the gun is very effective and you have a fair amount of ammo to play with, but the sight is minimal ... never noticed it dancing around; does it move at all? Does it calculate lead as implied by 'LCOS' or does para 2 apply to the radar equipped version and is not linked to para 1??? Edit: So after trying it, the pipper moves a tiny amount ... not really a LCOS!

    AV-8B LCOS

Just reading the 'Master_FSG' for the AV-8B VMAT-203 and on page AA 16-8 it says: 'Name: Stadiametric Range Estimation Purpose: Determine the range of the target based on the size of the target relative to either the AIM-9 boresight SHPI or the long / short range gun sight. Description of Procedures: 1. In the AV-8B Night Attack variant, the ability to recognize a weapon engagement zone (WEZ) or adversary range without a radar lock is dependent upon the pilot’s ability to use stadiametric range estimation. 2. To determine the target’s range utilizing the gun sights, review the“Combat Gunnery” Lesson and the AV-8B NATIP for LCOS long and short range sight size.' Does this suggest that the AV-8B NA has a LCOS gun sight rather than just a fixed pipper???
  10. Agreed, it does seem like something you'd want to select quickly.
  11. If you select the gun in A2A and then switch to A2G, the gun remains selected without using the MPCDs ... so 2 HOTAS actions.
  12. I've had something similar on a bolter ... stick full forward and the nose keeps climbing.
  13. Whales fared badly in the Falklands war against RN ASW forces, not scoring a single kill but suffering numerous losses :(
  14. Very difficult to see the target on the new map area in A2A ... either against the sky or the sea.
  15. Much appreciated! Thanks.
  16. The gun is lethal (although obviously no radar gun sight) and it has a ton of power, so as long as it hasn't got too much fuel remaining and you keep the speed up over those little wings, its a great dogfighter. There is a great reference to it, I think in a book titled 'Roger Ball' about their abilities against an F-4.
  17. Agree with the op ... especially on the lower MFD, virtually impossible to read in VR unless you zoom right in. The background seems very bright and the text green and very blocky ... if you try and lean forward you end up with you head between your knees :( On the Rift using 4x MSAA and default PD. PS> Awesome job on the PG/18 BTW!
  18. +1 ... especially under 50' through the mountains on the PG map, man are there some tight valleys!
  19. Only plane I've tried on the new map ... great work razbam!
  20. +1 ... trying to select 82 on a slider, while closing the carrier is a challenge!
  21. Does this mean there is a Sea Harrier FRS1 in the works? Yes please :)

    Waypoints

@Zeus ... map looks great! This is a great plane, really looking forward to updates.
  23. I would love to know the answer to this too!
  24. Very impressive!
