New Look and Feel for the South Atlantic map
blaster182 replied to Raz_Specter's topic in South Atlantic
I just took a quick spin in the Huey from Port Stanley. The performance is so much better since the last update, even on my rig, awesome. I've had the map from the release and it's improved so much recently. I visit it often for just cruising along in helos or jets. South Atlantic looks so much different from the other maps, I would very much recommend it now. Two thumbs up! -
Final mission score 100 I truly enjoyed the campaign, even if it took me slightly more than two years to finish I'd left it for some time because of the bugs that were due to the DCS core updates. Thanks for continuously addressing and fixing the bugs! It's very well scripted and great mission variety. It brings out the features of the M-2000C well. The voice overs, acting and immersion are top grade. I felt the A2A missions sometimes difficult, especially against radar-missile equipped fighters, but I could always manage in some way or by support of the other flights. I'm looking forward to hopping into the Coup d'Etat mini campaign next and back to the Hornet with Raven One after that Thank you for many, many hours of pure entertainment, Baltic Dragon!

[REPORTED] Mk-83 falling before target
blaster182 replied to edineygomes's topic in Problems and Bugs
+1 I'd encountered the same yesterday, with Mk 82 LD. -
Thanks for insisting, you convinced me! I've tried MSAAx4 in DCS only with both native and DLDSR in single thread and multi thread, omitting the other NVCP AA methods. It's in fact better without temporal AA and much less shimmering than I remember from previous versions. I've settled with MSAAx4 and DLDSR in multi threading now. So I've actually found my personal solution in this thread by replacing in-game SSAA by DLDSR
-
Well, I tried a lot of configurations and this ended up to be my favourite regarding performance and appearance. Yup, MFAA and TRAA are enabled in NVCP via "enhance application settings". But I will give it another shot with only MSAAx4 in DCS at both native 1080p resolution and at DLDSRx2.25. DLDSR gave a big performance boost when I used it instead of SSAA in DCS and it works very well in versions 2.7 and 2.8.

I have MSAAx4 and anisotropic filtering x16 enabled ingame and the following via the Nvidia control panel: DLDSR, TRAA multisample, MFAA. DLDSR does work but TRAA and MFAA don't seem to work with the multithreading exe. I tried to add bin_mt\dcs.exe in the NVCP, without visible success. I expect that the MT dcs.exe is also recognized as dcs.exe by NVCP - so that the program specific settings should be applied regardless which dcs.exe version is running. Might be the same problem as with Reshade mentioned by bkthunder, postshaders not working.

Mission 10 - SAM Effectiveness bug???
blaster182 replied to Elendil78v's topic in F/A-18C The Serpent's Head 2 Campaign
I've added the track file to my previous post. Not sure if it helps given the replay issues of DCS. I'll check out your updated Serpent's Head campaign for sure, it's great that you're still improving it! And then on to the Rise of the Persian Lion -
Mission 10 - SAM Effectiveness bug???
blaster182 replied to Elendil78v's topic in F/A-18C The Serpent's Head 2 Campaign
I just finished the campaign on the latest open beta 2.8.2.35759. Everything played out well for me. The SAMs after whacking Snake gave me quite a scare but no hits. Then came another "cleared hot on Snake" message that I ignored and a second later I was directed to return to the Stennis. I turned over Kutaisi to face just one MiG that had gotten through and I could dispatch with a Sidewinder. Thank you very much for the campaign, I enjoyed it and its predecessor a lot. Very good assortment of missions and highly immersive. I'm looking forward to play the one or other mission again and will set my eye on your other Hornet campaigns, Badger633. Driver-level downscaling (Nvidia DSR/DL-DSR) does not work properly.
blaster182 replied to J20Stronk's topic in 2D Video Bugs
I'm successfully running DCS with downscaling. I've set the DLDSR factor 2.25 set in NVCP: Internal game resolution is 2880x1620 pixels and output is 1920x1080 pixels. My Windows desktop resolution is the original 1920x1080 px. This has enabled me to switch from MSAAx2 and SSAAx1.5 to MSAAx4 only and improve the frame rate. -
Congratulations and thank you very much for this mission set! Really excellent work, very entertaining and diverse tasks, tight LZs and a great setting! I've tried skill level medium.

Must have been some big release party yesterday... just two weeks (TM). Just kidding, take your time to release a good mission set, Presidium.

You're looking at two different versions of the plane that are available to fly: The C-101EB trainer with the standard rudder top and the C-101CC light fighter with the dish-like antenna base on top of the rudder. Have a look at Chuck's guide page 11 for a comparison.

NO LONGER AVAILABLE Trial/Teaser UH-1 Huey Campaign
blaster182 replied to SorelRo's topic in SorelRo
Thanks, I've managed the start now - I guess I hadn't opened the throttle fully before starting the engine. It's a very enjoyable mission, a bit challenging with the tight takeoff space in the dark and the high external load and wind. The rich voice overs add a lot of atmosphere, as well as time of the day and weather you've chosen. I liked it very much! I finished on second attempt, crashed the cargo in my first try setting it down I imagine that it could be a bit difficult for a first campaign mission for pilots with little experience. I have 100+ hours in the Huey and about 70 in the Hip, just to provide a relation. I'm looking forward to the complete campaign, I'll certainly buy it like your Tiger and Harrier campaigns. -
Could it be implemented that static objects can support the Huey body if a skid is missing? This could be a tyre like in the picture or low crates etc. In today's state, the aircraft hull sinks into the object and is not supported by it. The collision model may have to be updated. Effect: After landing on a suitable support, taking off again should theoretically be possible. Unlike now when you end up on the side - unless you land on a slope. You can find examples of "mattress landings" of helicopters and Harriers with broken nose gear online. Of course, usually the aircraft would not attempt a new take off. This feature could be extended to all other helos with skids or landing gear and the Harrier. (Picture courtesy of user micro-flight from r/hoggit post on 2022-11-09.)
