  1. He Stormy if you think so, you’re the BIG man right! Just my opinion, I'm just another forum member like yourself. I have no official capacity here. True I recon this poll to be a waste. My 2cents.
  2. Im voting for a yes. The no vote of this threads are going to loose what the DEV's and LockOn is really going to offer them. If they take my Master Card. Then I'm there. If not, ..... That would suck. I want to support the dev's and will do so in my best ability's. Pay Pall aint a considering option. I dont trust them. LOL aint Paranoiac. I Just dont trust them. Master card license for business is not that expensive. If it brings more money to the Dev's having credit cards purchase online. Then more money for the dev's to bring out 1.2. (note I dont have a visa, Dev's dont consider visa the only card for online purchase. thanks) Cheers
  3. How come this does not disturbe me a bit. LOL
  4. I know, Patience is virtue. I've sipped my last glass of cognac and poofed my last cuban cigar, LOL 8) I dont feel like waiting anymore, even If I already know that I dont have a choice. As the saying goes; Curious kills the Cat. Satisfaction brings him back. LoL. just Anxious  8) Make a good version thats whats counts. Cheers
  5. I dont rely see what all the "brouhaha" is all about, since your operating itself is already full of security flaws and holes. You think your safe? Guess again... The End  And yes this includes myself. My 2cents
  6. Thanks Wags, Chilling having a sip of cognac with a cuban cigar waiting the full release. Cheers S!
  7. Yep, I've seen it, great article. Its linked on page 2 of this Thread :D  S!
  8. Average of 8 times if not even more. S!
  9. ahh, thanks, I thought perhaps I was the only one having this startup issue occurring and the modem going nuts. I thought it must be due to modding the demo to get the other flyables to work. I found where the drivers are in the System32\drivers folder kmixer.sys sfdrv01.sys But if you remove them then go boot-up 1.1, then exit it, they are re-installed again by FC ... haven't worked out how to kill them yet in 1.1, but I haven't had the PC freeze-ups today either. kmixer.sys is kernel audio mixer of Microsoft Windows. Im pretty sure its was not installed by FC. Just a tought  S!

  12. I really do wish that Eagle Dynamics responds to this thread. I would clarify much of what has to be, in the open, for all of us, users....
  13. They lost 2 pirates, lol  Thats good enough for me. Man guys your loosing the picture of why this is being done. Support ED. Its all going to be worth while in the long run. My 2 cents. Cheers Don't say stupid stuff like that. It's as dumb as the comemnt you're replying to :P The point here is, 1.2 is coming out after 1.1. I would imagine most peopel will get 1.2, and won't really have use for 1.1 - IF it turns out that there's some negative feedback with SF, they will likely use something else for 1.2, and at the same time make SURE we can play it for a good while since they've got the other project to work on which will take time. I doubt anyone will use up their 3 activations (NOT INSTALLS - ACTIVATIONS. YOU CAN REINSTALL TILL YOU'RE BLUE IN THE FACE) before 1.2 comes out. Those who do, get a better hobby or stop installing it on multiple computers. The ONLY people whom I could imagine this affects more is server owners - these guys do ED a /favor/ and ED should take care to make sure they're feeling less screwed than everyone else. Secondly, ED released a no-cd version of the 1.02 patch after sales slumped a good deal. I'm sure that 1.1 might see a similar release. Give these guys some credit. Sheesh. My Bad GGTharos. True we need something as for dedicated servers. Expressed myself to quickly. S! I was in the heat of the action  They should revised their toughts of bringing out a dedicated version for host for lockOn. Without the support of the hosts. Online community will never be. Dedicated server option is in a sence a real need for multiplayer fonctionnality. Cheers
  14. They lost 2 pirates, lol  Thats good enough for me. Man guys your loosing the picture of why this is being done. Support ED. Its all going to be worth while in the long run. My 2 cents. Cheers
  15. Here some knowledge for some that dont know how to scan your pc for flaws. Syntax netstat [-a] [-e] [-n] [-o] [-p Protocol] [-r] [-s] [interval] Top of page Parameters -a : Displays all active TCP connections and the TCP and UDP ports on which the computer is listening. -e : Displays Ethernet statistics, such as the number of bytes and packets sent and received. This parameter can be combined with -s. -n : Displays active TCP connections, however, addresses and port numbers are expressed numerically and no attempt is made to determine names. -o : Displays active TCP connections and includes the process ID (PID) for each connection. You can find the application based on the PID on the Processes tab in Windows Task Manager. This parameter can be combined with -a, -n, and -p. the -o syntax is verry good to identify sofware on your pc that has established a connection. -p Protocol : Shows connections for the protocol specified by Protocol. In this case, the Protocol can be tcp, udp, tcpv6, or udpv6. If this parameter is used with -s to display statistics by protocol, Protocol can be tcp, udp, icmp, ip, tcpv6, udpv6, icmpv6, or ipv6. -s : Displays statistics by protocol. By default, statistics are shown for the TCP, UDP, ICMP, and IP protocols. If the IPv6 protocol for Windows XP is installed, statistics are shown for the TCP over IPv6, UDP over IPv6, ICMPv6, and IPv6 protocols. The -p parameter can be used to specify a set of protocols. -r : Displays the contents of the IP routing table. This is equivalent to the route print command. Interval : Redisplays the selected information every Interval seconds. Press CTRL+C to stop the redisplay. If this parameter is omitted, netstat prints the selected information only once. /? : Displays help at the command prompt. If you think Star force is harmful and vulnerable then prove it. Registry key wont do. Show me proof of malicious behavior, then we can investigate it further. I never rely on rumors. Point in and example, HL. They also have been threaten as a security flaw. Also point in mind, if you remove it. You still have traces in your registry. Never found any foundation on rumors. Bring proof then We will listen. This community I think is tech incline so I thought. So rumors keep them for yourself unless you’re able to back your facts up. Keep in mind I never keep a blind eye. My computer and internet security is always at risk and always investigate issues similar to this. But without facts.... Its a waist of our time. Again I’m sure that ED did make his homework on this issue. So I’m satisfied with this for know. Cheers, Hooked on LockOn.
  16. What port are open, that you’re referring about that are open without my consent? I’ve just scanned it. Did not find anything. Unless you know something I don’t?
  17. Registry entries of games and programs that we agreed to install. Not copy protection registry entries from a demo. Installation of anything else is deceptive at the very least. Or Spyware, or a trojan, or a virus. or a piece of software that is a security risk to your computer. Man im sorry, I dont want to be flamed for this but I have to say something. Your ignorance is your down fall. You really think a hacker attempting to enter your computer will do it trough a security sofware? If im not mistaken your an online gammer? So you already have ports open for ya games in your firewall. The hacker will probe these ports. Its the best way in. Besides of sending you a trojan via your emails. Stop this Paranoiac behaviour LOL. Man you guys make me laugh sometimes. Enough sayd on this issue on my end. Bring on Flaming Cliff so we can have fun in the lomac sky's... Cheers
  18. I would imagine that ED did made his homework on this issue. It would not be in Eagle Dynamic interest of implementing a “backdoor” that would be permitted to others to enter your system. But lets think about it. Star-force is a legitimate business with its only purpose is to protect de data from Malicious Thieves. You think that once you removed the software it still on your system? Quote: http://www.firingsquad.com/features/starforce_interview/page3.asp iringSquad: Uninstalling games that use StarForce, such as TOCA Race Driver 2, Broken Sword 3 and Silent Storm apparently doesn't remove StarForce. Was this simply an oversight by game publishers/developers, or a necessary part of the copy protection process? Abbie Sommer: The fact that they remain was something that no one predicted would be such a contentious issue. Going forward, we are encouraging all publishers to include the SFdriver cleaner utility into their un-install scripts. There are a tremendous amount of residual files that get loaded onto on a system without our knowledge when we load a program, be it a game, a movie or music player, video or sound card drivers etc. Far more than the average person realizes. Now that we hear the dissatisfaction about it, we have taken steps to fix it, the publishers are too. We also have the tools posted on our website for anyone to download. http://www.star-force.com/index.phtml?category=200&type=5 BTW, we are not the only CP provider who loads drivers; it is a common part of several protections. As for http://www.star-force.com/index.phtml?category=200&type=5 End Users How to update or uninstall StarForce drivers Why are drivers installed on my PC? Some versions of StarForce Copy Protection will install dedicated drivers on your PC. Those drivers are necessary for the StarForce specific CD/DVD checking procedure, only. They do not include any hidden functionality. The drivers are active only at execution of the protected application. StarForce constantly improves their drivers to keep them compatible with the latest versions of Windows operating systems. How to update StarForce Drivers: Updating StarForce drivers can improve protected applications performance and drivers compatibility. The following procedure will update the StarForce drivers on your system. 1. Download the SFUPDATE tool as a ZIP archive. 2. Extract and store sfdrvup.exe anywhere on your hard disk. 3. Run sfdrvup.exe. How to remove all StarForce components from your PC: Sometimes the un-installation utility of the protected application does not uninstall all StarForce drivers. The following procedure will ensure that all StarForce related components are completely removed from your system. 1. Download the SFREMOVE tool as a ZIP archive. 2. Extract and store sfdrvrem.exe anywhere on your hard disk. 3. Run sfdrvrem.exe. If the protected application requires a StarForce driver, this driver will be re-installed as soon as you launch the application again. For further help, please contact the helpdesk of the application publisher. Note that all cases of unauthorized distribution of StarForce Removal Tool (sfdrvrem.exe) itself, be it .EXE file or the utility archive (.ZIP, .RAR, etc.), are considered as infringement of the copyright. For authorization, please contact StarForce at sales@star-force.com. NEW! Drivers vulnerability issue clarification End Users The old version of StarForce drivers did indeed allow executing code using Administrator rights for its purposes. We would like to clarify some points. What we see here is that drivers may be accessed by any application. This application gets Administrator privileges and is not hampered by OS security as it would have been if being run with normal or low rights. This issue has happened before with some companies, and it was never a "critical" security matter (see http://computercops.biz/article2661.html for details). It is well-known that the overwhelming majority of home users work under Administrator accounts all the time, thus this driver vulnerability does not affect them at all, as any application run will work with Administrator rights by default. This is significant only for business workstations working with common User rights. Going further we see that there are no complex StarForce protected games on business workstations, therefore this problem is valid only for office computers that have business applications protected with StarForce using the drivers (yet most of the time business applications are protected without drivers). If you work in User-mode most of the time and wish to fix this vulnerability in StarForce drivers, you should do the following: 1) Run sfclean utility (http://www.star-force.com/index.phtml?category=200&type=5) to remove old drivers. (You may also use this utility in order to remove old StarForce drivers that are no longer needed) 2) Download and install the software patch that fixes this vulnerability from the software publisher. The publishers are informed of this issue and can create a patch. P.S. StarForce would like to thank the hardworking team and their financial backers who have found this driver vulnerability. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't be in business. [END QUOTE] So point in mind all software due leave residue on 1 computer. Even so more with Antivirus / Software base firewalls also. Keep in mind that this company goal “Software security” so if there a bugs in the software. They will most likely once brought to their attention, put in place some patches to fix security holes. Never the less, your operating system itself if already full of security holes. So if someone would really want to access your computer, they would not need this software to access it. Let ED do what he think is in there best interest. I’m pretty sure its safe. Never the less I will test it for myself once I’ve purchased it. Don’t panic guys. You have the right to question the vulnerability’s of star forces. But then again, take in consideration what ED has invested in this. True nothing Is unbreakable in regards of security codes. But then again, lets not make it easy for them. Well in my book, I’m still purchasing ED Flaming Cliff. I never pass a good thing. I'm not scared of Star force. And no I dont work for Starforce lol. I just studied a bit what your concerns was brought in this thread. I work as an Advanced Technical Agent in one of the biggest ISP in Canada. Yes Internet security is always my concern. But I never jump to gunz. I step back and study the matter first. As we all should. Cheers
  19. Never heard of star-force before today so I made a quick search, and found a good article. I recommend you check it out http://www.firingsquad.com/features/starforce_interview/ ; In recent months there's been an increasing awareness and alarm over StarForce copy protection. It's actually a driver that installs itself with the games that come shipped with it, and originally it didn't uninstall when the game was uninstalled. There are many panicked reports about "StarForce disabled/fried my USB flash scanner/ATA drive/CD drive". Having lived through several internet panics like this - from the V-chip through CD keys to Senator Joe Lieberman's bills on game sales to minors - and generally having participated on the wrong side of them - I was skeptical. I've learned that if there's one thing that the internet is good at, it's spreading rumors and unnecessary hyperbolic panic. Like I said, I was part of that myself in earlier times. So, rather than simply jump aboard the panic wagon, we decided to get the word straight from the horse's mouth. Here then is our interview with Abbie Sommer of StarForce..... Cheers
  20. Re: LOMAC v1.1 copy protection – good news/bad news it's not a reinstall counter, it's counter of major hardware changes, when SF will ask you for a new activation, similar to Windows XP. Anybody has a problems with activating MS Windows after hardware changes? I mean legal copies, of course. You will not need a new activation if you just reinstalling it. Dmut is there any confirmation about the 3 re install thing? Are the Dev's only considering Star-force.com, at this time, to protect the add-on or is it a definit fact. To my experience I had to re install lockon so many times. Why? Due that some mod's that in the long wrong corrupted my game. Also have to re install my OS at least 2 times a year either due to virus or registry corruption. I for one, I'm happy to see the DEV's protecting there work. Cheers
  21. Ye of Little Faith  Check out the specs http://warfare.ru/?catid=260&linkid=1631
  22. How about Twin-Blade the chopper of death, lol :D
  23. As sweet at it sound. I prefer to wait for the real thing. Torrent user beware. P2P is not going to profit the dev's. I hope the Dev's have some security feature like valid serial key or something..... I Know nothing is unbrakeble. This aint the isssue. Fork it out and support the Dev's. Without them. This will not be. There implemention in this work is tremendous. Support them or dont fly because your not worth it in my book. If you dont pay, Then your {......} is mine. Please support them, true I want my flyable Ka-50. If I see and illegal user. Hold me back, .....It aint going to be nice....I will fight for Eagle Dynamic. Hope you do also, Piracy is to wide spread. I want ED to profit so then can give us more.... maybe a flyable ka-50  Im hooked, Hope all works well for Eagle Dynamics.... Cheers
  24. The manual is just awesome. Verry well written. Thanks verry much Eagle Dynamic and all that put the effort in the translation. Its just too cool. S!
