Hallo zusammen, Sitze an meiner ersten eigenen Skin für die F-18. Jetzt habe ich aber das Problem, das nachdem die Skin in DCS kopiert wurde ich die Meldung bekomme bzw. es am LFugzeg ersichtlich ist das Texturen fehlen. Missing Textures steht überall am Flugzeug und die Skin ist komplett pixelig. Weiß jemand woran das liegt? Arbeite mit Gimp.

Hi, I just tried to create my first own skin but whenever I try to use it in DCS i get the message "missing textures" written all over the plane and the entire thing is completly pixelated. I work in gimp, i export the file as a 24 bit .bmp the use some different programm and convert them into a dds or ddc (cant remember). What on gods green earth am I doing wrong?

It's the DCS Engine. You may have read here in the forum that there is a development ongoing for the vulkan engine. Thats the engine that hopefulle will improve VR signgficantly. The current engine is in no way optimised for VR. It works, but is extremly hardware hungry. Meaning - DCS is not using multi threading with the CPU and thats as far as i know the biggest bottleneck. So the only way to get FPS up is to overclock your CPU beyond anything healty because it uses only one or two cores. If i would have know that earlier I would have gone for an Intel that is not an I9 and has a better TDP than the I9 so I could clock higher. But... You know. I too do hope that we might get the new enginen and or multi core support in 2021, but i would not hold my breath for it. And yes - It's completly nuts. I paid back in the day more than 3.5K for my system and i get 40 FPS.

Close but it could work. Your GPU is not the weakest link here, but the CPU. You will have to go for at least 5 Ghz to reach that FPS out of my experiance. I myself run DCS on mostly medium settings with a G1, and get somewhat between 40 and 50 FPS, depending on flightlevel, is there a big city or whatever.... So basically - the more details there are, the lower your framerate. But in general - yes, that is possible. Exept on the syria map, forget about that right away. I tweeted Ron yesterday that there is a big need for for an roadmap update, since they are working on like 100000 things and not finishing anything. No reply so far. If they need someone to take care of their communication with this forum here, i will be happy to do so (as i also stated in my tweet) simply because i think that working with this forum here is so much more important than posting pretty pictures all over the place. I really like their modules, I like the stuff they have lined up, but they need to step up the communication game big time. The Bug thing is just another things that needs to be adressed. As i said - I will be more than happy to assist here.

If the only point of your posts is to be right you should probably rethink your actions here. As long as you are unwilling to accept, that there are people who might have a different opinion than you, you should not be in this forum, letalone any forum. You urge people to grow up? First and foremost you should learn a little tolerance towards other peoples opinion. Then start beeing a productive member of the board. Contribute not smack peoples head in. Help, not confrontate. First of all, stop calling me "dude". Im not your "dude" by any means. The thing is: you can talk about you. You can not talk for me or other users. So if we (the mayority of the users) do not have a problem with buying feature incomplete modules because we want to - thats just how it is. And its not like its a big surprise to anyone. I knew that the F-16 was incomplete. And yes - the F-16 was a bit of a clusterf... but i guess ED learned a valuable lesson. I or we, whatever term you like do not feel as part of the devs, but as part of a community, ok? We are passionate about what we like. So naturally we like to support the developers. Does it mean i welcome everything ED does or decides? Hell no. Does it mean i buy everthing released? 'course not. I buy what i like to support. I hate Warbirds, I hate their helicopter choices so i have nothing WWII related and no helicopters. Until they release one i like. That one i will then buy happily to support the devs. Easy as that. As for defining a fanboy attitude - passion would be the right word for it - nothing to do with beeing childish or what ever. Passion and caring about something you like. Still the same opinion: 1.: yes 2.: yes 3.: Nope. EA is a valid way to finance your company and pay for stuff you can not sell. Dont like EA, dont use it. Besides - it safes a lot of money in terms of hireing beta testers. 4.: agree to parts of it. And: its called open beta for a reason - see point three. Stick to stable if you mind helping out and get stuff earlier in return. Oh - and i urge you to grow up, stop beeing bitter and take stuff as is is since you will not be able to change it anyway. There will be a lot of strange (in some eyes) requests here, and everyone of them has a valid point to who ever made that request. Not moaning about them is called respect. ED will decide what is good for DCS and what is not. So... yeah. And perhaps stop insulting people and admins because of the way they run that Board here. You can always go and use another one. The map is simply amazing. So much detail... Great work, really. FPS in VR is not worth talking about, because it sometimes feels more like a slide show, but given the amount of little objects and details its quite allright. @MAESTR0 you guys managed to establish a new standard for DCS Maps.
