1. also allow the objects to placed in buildings that they would normally be in. ie, a plane in a hanger instead of on top of it!!! I know they did this for the iglas and choppers, but maybe ED can fix at the very least the model of the hanger building so its is how it used to be? I had some good missions where you had to destroy a target in a building that are broken now. :(
2. I have to agree that currently this sim is a long way from being ready to hover in CAS chopper missions. The low details are fine when flying in a plane, but what about things like infantry? I can see this getting boring quick unless ED has got some tricks up their sleave. I think I would still rather fly the arcade chopper in BF2 over the beautifully modelled cockpit and AFM of the KA-50 with LOMACS current landscape and damage effects. Although, if I remember correctly....when I played the alpha version of black shark I think I remember seeing the turrets being blasted off the tanks (maybe I am just thinking of the ad pic?) I just really hope there will be some kind of active infantry. (not just the little "igla/stinger" guy that looks like one of my "army men" from grade school.
3. yes, but landing in a cross wind is more fun. I wonder what the rule of the thumb is for wether or not a carrier will make a course adjustment for air operations relating to weather? I can't imagine changing the course of a battle group for a 4fps crosswind, but I don't know? p.s. Thomas, I gave that mission pack a try.... I like the briefing PDF, but I have not got through the first mission yet. 1 wingman vs. over 12 bandits? We killed 11 and ran out of missiles :( Seems a bit much to ask of two 33's. Not sure if I will I continue with this or not. I usually don't engage in suicide missions :P
4. make sure your wind is no more than 3fps at ground level of AI can NOT land on carrier :(
5. The detector continues to display the range of the bandit, and not the missile, like it does when an AR missile is fired. Is this correctly modelled? If so....what techniques other than noting distance/alt/speed/ect. at time of launch are used? P.S. Sorry if this is a repost, my search function didnt work.
6. Thanks for the code ;) can you do this for the US helo carrier?
7. Hey guys, thanks for the comments. Sven this is a result of using the in-game render, and a bit of a speed increase during editing.
8. hehe, this has been around for a long time, and is probably the best gun cam imagery out there as far as a complete combat mission goes. I have extended high-res version of this (9.44MIN, 159MEG) I have been collecting gun cam imagery for along time, and have about 80 clips that are worth keeping, and this is in the top 5.
9. Zdravstvuite druzya! Zdes' nahoditsa link kotoriy mojet vas zainteresovat'. http://rapidshare.de/files/7442057/-199-LAW.avi forums link - http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=11745
10. thanks for the comments guys ;) Thanks for hosting Thomas. (want anymore vids to host? This the 14th video I have made, and currently I think only No Fear, and Max G are up.) A couple notes: This is made with the in-game render. The music is 3 different versions of "Renegades of Funk" original is Afrika Bombata. The 199th Squadron is english speaking, but fly russian jets. Thus the reason for the english comms chatter. Our website and forums is currently down and maybe lost forever :( so please contact me via pm on this site or via email. Again, thanks for watching ;)
11. Here is a movie I have made for the 199th Light Air Wing, which flies the MIG-29S. I hope you all enjoy it. Comments are welcome :) It takes place on the return home flight of a fairly uneventful CAP, and there is also a little combat footage, from various other missions. ;) I currently don't have a web host so sorry for using rapidshare. (scroll down, click free, wait for ticket, then save.) http://rapidshare.de/files/7442057/-199-LAW.avi
12. this is the only air combat footage I have seen. I saw a couple ground force clips, but I can't remember where?
13. Keep us posted on the Falklands footage, I have only seen 1 good peice of footage, and would be curious to see more. As for the vids I posted......Most of the old school members will have seen these, but I figured some of the new guys might enjoy them, and it was I bit of effort to make the post, so I figured I would spread it around ;)
14. Man.....where were you guys like 3 months ago??? :P http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=9845
15. this is a post I made on mp.net regarding the Su-30MKI, thought I would share with you guys even though I'm sure you have seen most of these.....
16. I have observed this also.......bandit flying as stable as if he were on a LAN comp right next to you, until you fire. It is almost like they are ALT+TAB'ing out when the missile gets close, but there has to be something easier than this. I have seen this more than once from a few pilots as well :(
17. lmao :) Man, I almost blew beer out my nose from laughing at this! 2pts for cross-reference
18. I have flown with Voxsod before and he has been a member of the community for a long time. I was surprised/disappointed by this post and jumped the gun, but my post was made mainly as a reply to BGP who seemed to be rationalizing the degree of cheating to be not that big a deal, but I apologize for ASSuming that Voxsod was cheating right off the bat. I come from games where screens and replays are the ONLY real proof, and reacted based on that. I caught several people using hacked loadouts when I would host 1.02 missions, and took screens......but would never post them publicly after 1 offense. I would suggest to hosts that if someone is caught/suspected to be cheating, that it be handled privately with the individual, or if they are in a squad that squad leader be contacted via email with attached screens/proof. This will help to avoid the unfortunate mislabeling of someone innocent. Now if the problem persists, and/or is as blaintant and undisputed as some offenders have been in the past (H*N**RO*ET), I don't see the problem with making the community aware.
19. WTF? They didn't accidentally appear on the plane. This is blaitant cheating, and complete BS. Not even from a new guy either!!! I'm sure the rational is that "They can cary them IRL", or "The eagles are too good so I need some better missiles to make it fair", but the bottom line is that if you are going to play on-line, ON SOMEONE ELSE's SERVER none the less, you HAVE to follow the rules!!! People spend alot of time practicing good tactics and learning about their enemies capablities. ex: If I am in a head to head BVR engagement with a bandit known to be a SU, and he fires at a BVR range, I know that this is a SAR missile and take the appropriate actions. I know if he loses lock and turns tail that I've got him and there is no chance of that SAR hitting me as I persue.........Now take the same scenario with someone carrying a AR missile on that SU, and at the very least I am evasive wondering where the hell the other bandit is!!! It's not that the R-27EA is a super missile, but it is not something that should be expected on the battlefield and therefor provides an unfair advantage....aka CHEATING. learn to fly instead of ruining it for the small online community we have.
20. look in the upper right corner of the targeting screen and you can see the type of weapon designated. Gun=Gun Tow=Wire guided missile (spirals into target) HF=Hellfire missile (more loft profile and drops down on the target) (The unguided rockets don't display as I believe they are fired by the pilot) There are some wierd things that happen in the video and I suspect that the cobras we are viewing just observed some of the impacts or possibly designated them for another A/C? Notice the TTH (time to hit?) countdown timer in the upper left of the screen is not in sync with the impact on all shots. Does anyone know how many different display screens the gunner has available and what the differences are? It seems to me like he has 4-5 types
21. http://d.turboupload.com/d/115598/cobra.zip.html I havent watched this one, but I believe its the same 13+ mins of footage at a lower res and w/o the music. ...for those that couldnt get the torrent file. :) I never said the actual audio of the pilot/co-pilot would be a 1000x's better than some buttrock, and I never said that war is cool. I think I read somewhere that advancements in precision and "smart" weapons has reduced colateral damage and the need to "carpet bomb" the enemy area, but I might be wrong. I agree that war is bloody and gruesome, especially to those showing up as pixels on the cobra's targeting screen.
22. not sure about the awacs but the tankers will fly for something like 20hrs on a full tank. I imagine the AWACS is similar. You might not even need to refuel for a long mission.
23. lol
24. the TOW missiles flight reminds me of the vikhr missiles. They have a nice spiral to them. I personally would have liked to see more personel targeting, and I don't think I have any mental problems. :) It is always funny to me when people get upset over the realities of war on sites relating to war and combat. It's not like we are on http://www.Oprah.com (not a flame)
25. The pilots are the "last line of defense" against (among other things) stupidity and human error, starting with those of other people, but including 'trapping' their own errors before they become serious problems. The TRUE cause of the accident was that *both* pilots were brain-dead STUPID. They didn't understand how their aircraft works, what the warning systems were trying to tell them, and did not perform their essential function!! They started working on the solution before they really had identified the problem! Egad! I wonder how they ever completed transition training to fly that aircraft - and how the Captain ever passed his "Type Rating" checkride, to fly as Pilot-in-Command of that type of aircraft!!! It doesn't matter what model of jet aircraft you fly; ANY TIME you hear the cabin altitude warning go off (regardless of what kind of sound and/or warning lights turn on), EVERY emergency checklist is going to have as it's first, #1 Action: "Put on your oxygen mask." Period. Everything else is secondary!! We are all trained, just like Pavlov Dogs, to react instantly and without any decision-making at all required when certain, critical things, like that, occur. It never dawned on either of them that they NEEDED oxygen. Duh! Where was *their* training? Yes, the horn used to warn the pilots about not having their flaps, speed brakes, wheel brakes, and a few other things set "properly" for takeoff - is the same one that is used to warn the pilots that the cabin altitude is too high (meaning that air pressure is too low) when such a condition is sensed by the aircraft's pressure sensors. But that is NO excuse for this level of confusion. If it's a "Takeoff Warning" the intermittent horn is trying to alert, that kind of problem will *only* occur on the ground. At which time, the pilots are supposed to do certain things. But if it's a "cabin altitude" problem, (which is to say a pressurization fault) they are supposed to do different things. Pressurization problems can only take place while airborne and will *never* take place on the ground. BUT you'd have to be a complete IDIOT to confuse the two, different, possible meanings that one horn is trying to tell you (as the article points out.) But I still find it impossible to believe that the pilots would be able to continue climbing to such an altitude to where they'd lose consciousness (somewhat above 20,000' I assume, which would take several minutes to reach) AFTER their first warning, when the plane climbed through 10,000 feet. Doing a 'Wild Goose Chase' around the cockpit, pursuing bogus 'faults' and pulling circuit breakers should certainly stop, if not sooner, at least at 14,000! I'll tell you why. The pilots can *command* the passenger oxygen masks to drop at any time they choose; even while on the ground! Just throw one switch and it'll happen. Regardless of that, if the cabin altitude gets to 14,000 feet, the masks will drop *automatically* in the passenger cabin, due to an automatic, built-in pressure sensor set to trigger then. (Nothing extra happens in the cockpit as they pass that altitude.) The very next thing that will happen in the Real World is that the flight attendant/stewardess is going to be wildly dinging the cockpit crew with the interphone chime to find out just what the hell is going on and why did the masks all dropped, and what the pilots are doing about it, and do they want their coffee now? When the F/A tells the Captain that the masks have all dumped in the back of the aircraft, even a MONGOLOID Captain would then know he's got a serious pressurization problem, not some 'takeoff warning' that won't shut off! For that matter, the Captain could have easily trouble-shot the probem to confirm which reason the horning was going off - by pressing one button. The 'Altitude Warning' horn *can be silenced* by pressing a 'cutoff' button on the overhead panel. But that button has no effect on a 'takeoff warning'. The only way to silence a 'takeoff warning' horn is by fixing the source of the problem. I never believed a crew could be SO ignorant as to ignore a RED 'Cabin Altitude' emergency annunciator light, assume a cabin altitude horn is malfunctioning, and to ignore or fail to check the Pressure Differential, Cabin Altitude, AND the altitude Rate-of-Change gauges, which are pneumatic, direct-reading, and bona fide 'no shit' gauges that ALWAYS work, and always tell the truth, even without electrical power! This German (an ethnic group with a well-deserved reputation for engineering and scientific intelligence) and his ESL Co-Star hit a new cumulative low on the I.Q. scale. I'm just sorry that all those people had to be with them when the pilots left their brains at home that day.
