Where did you see that?

That settles that. I'm an unconditional Rift user myself, refusing to play any game that's not VR. Except maybe Civ III. :helpsmilie: I have a serious DCS feature proposition to help TrackIR/2D users enjoy such aircraft as the L-39 with the (huge) gunsight and the Mig-15 with its right-in-the-middle-of-everything centerline canopy frame. In which sub-forum, or to whom may I direct some description and images of the concept? In short, it would be a toggle for near/far-focus plane, mimicking binocular vision and its perceived see-though consequences.

OpenBeta gives you more options. It can be the same as Release: you just have to skip updates until the next release build.

Being born francophone, in your verbal acrobatics I can't participate, although I can appreciate... I suggest you chill and m******ate. :joystick: <Inflammatory reply removed and replaced by a big sigh> "Tout vient à point à qui sait attendre."

Ties in with my question: will the basket cause damage to an aircraft? That thump against the side of the fuselage or canopy would be spectacular! Is it a possibility that the basket be swallowed by the engine? :helpsmilie:

I'd be glad to offer a private lesson using the Harrier or Su-33. No charge; just pay for the Jet-A.

Every mini-update, I imagine how Wags has a smirk on his face and a tingle inside when he's about to push the "tease" button! Beautiful, beautiful stuff, that Hornet.

F/A 18C Hornet Flight demonstration video question
Jack McCoy replied to Fuelburner's topic in Screenshots and Videos
1) F11 to cycle through airbases. 2) Navigate using mouse: - Axis: Line-of-sight - Wheel: Set speed forward/backward - Numpad /: Backward fast - Numpad *: Forward fast -
On multiplayer server, we'll need tail numbers 01-99! :smartass:

"After which, we hope to include "what if" skins for F/A-18A operators like Canada, Australia, Spain." - Wags This is absolutely great, if and when it happens. Including myself, I know of at least 6 people who will be very excited about this! :D

Model Viewer doesn't update livery textures?
Jack McCoy replied to Worrazen's topic in Liveries/Skinning
With 2.5-included ModelViewer, FPS is still through the roof when the app has focus, making my video card whine. Also, CTRL-L to display Liveries dialog does not work. The Liveries window default size should be increased or saved and restored between sessions. --- EDIT: Going back to ModelViewer just now I found a reasonable framerate of 44. I don't know what changed since yesterday, except the fact I wrote this message! I'll share my findings, if any. -
I'd love it too but stop beating a dead horse. The advertised scope for skins for Early Access is current F/A-18C operators. Period. It takes some research to do proper skins and to avoid complaints such as "It's not CAF, it's RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) since August 2011. I'm so smart. ED s**ks."

Why use MSAA in VR? Go to the VR tab and set pixel resolution (over sampling) to 1.3 to 1.5. This will have a similar effect to MSAA. Note: Your 2D screenshots will be affected from the lack of MSAA.

what is actually Virtual Reality support in F/A 18C
Jack McCoy replied to wormeaten's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
What you're describing would be a DCS World feature, not F/A-18C. -
I had an open window in my computer room. As I was flying in VR, a cool summer breeze hit my arm: I turned to see if my canopy was closed! I think I'm going to set up a couple of fans for the Mi-8...

Never heard that before... Love it!:smartass:

Binocular vision, i.e. VR. :pilotfly: The stick becomes transparent on account of the second eye which is not blocked. Also, with default eyepoint (SnapView?) moved forward, or TrackIR forward movement, you can look down at the bottom MFD which is roughly between the pilot's knee's / arm's length. The default eye position I feel is usually too far back, probably to allow 2D users to see the side consoles.

You should start a separate thread for the side-story. I'd have a question... in the proper thread.

VMFA-115 Silver Eagles (active with F-18C) would be nice, since it features the false canopy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VMFA-115#/media/File:VMFA-115_FA-18_during_OIF.jpg

People are still scratching their heads about this one...

I think it's good that they learn that you can't have everything, and that you have to make choices in line with your preferences and financial means. :smartass: :pilotfly: :megalol: I thinks it's badder for working adults who live in countries with weak currency. :joystick:

I wonder if the calculations are done at runtime and at what mesh resolution, or are pre-computed and kept in performance tables/graphs...

A few days ago I confessed I'd pay 500$CAD (350 USD?) for the Hornet. [Wags, don't read this!] It comes out pre-purchase 100$CAD - PURCHASED! You can't get a 10-minute helicopter ride for that price. I purchased myself thousands of hours of challenging and exhilarating flight and the possibility of fulfilling a life-long dream of mastering the Hornet. With DCS, I will enjoy a VR simulator as good - and I believe far more superior - than the ones I would have trained on in the early 1990... Remember: "The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys."
