  1. Did you turn on the Generators?
  2. Hmm I have just lost TIR4 control in Blackshark. It was working pergectly last night but tonight it won't work at all. My setup page in BS is now blank too as in the pic in the OP. Mouse and joystick views work perfectly just no TIR4. :( EDIT: Fixed. I uninstalled Naturalpoint software and reinstalled and it seems ok again now.
  3. I find the same problem, some functions you click and others you have to go looking for on the keyboard. It doesn't make sense. There is probably a software limitation as to how many controls can be clicked idk. All in all though I like it, a sim is a sim, not a game and I'm not a gamer.
  4. Yeah they have problems on overcast days as they have to shoot straight up into the clouds by necessity. I might be wrong but I'm sure the RAAF have enabled this somehow as I can't believe it would be part of a normal fuel dump. It looks great at night, I have an old photo somewhere where I was 50 miles away and it lit up the sky. An amazing sight. :)
  5. Try the lamps test button, hold the left mouse button down then turn around and check to see if they are lit. The test button should light every warning lamp that is operational. I'd rep you for that but I can't.. :megalol:
  6. Actually it's the RAAF and even though we are getting some more Hornets it's more to cover the F35 being late. The F111 is scheduled for retirement in mid 2020's last I heard. There is nothing currently available that can beat it for our needs so the RAAF is trying to keep it in service for as long as possible using retired US aircraft for spares.
  7. I have seen this done many times. It's great to watch. An F111 pilot told me that if you don't head for the heavens immediately upon lighting you will rapidly go supersonic. I have never seen this attempted on any other aircraft so I assume there's something different in the F111 design that allows it.
  8. Cheers guys. I had a major windows crash last night requiring a full re install so it may be a few days before I can try this again. I forgot about the run as administrator thing, duh!!!
  9. When I edit the graphics.cfg folder with notepad I get a denial saying I don't have permission to edit the folder. How do I get around that please? OS is win7 x64
  10. Looks great, I will test it tomorrow with W7 x64. I've had lots of trouble with dcsmax locking my system so something new will be greatly appreciated.
  11. I didn't know either, look what happenend to my reputation because I asked a question. Oh well, I know not to ask now... Rest assured I'm not a nasty person like that red dot might suggest.
  12. I have been using this successfully with win7 however tonight I downloaded cat 9.6 video drivers and everytime time I try to use dcsmax I get an instant lockup when I select single player. TIR4 starts and runs ok but single player freezes immediately. I have reinstalled dcsmax but the issue remains. Any ideas?
  13. Generally my experience with Logitech is if you buy their cheaper components then they will break in short order. The more expensive items I've had have lasted me well. Namely G25, Momo Force and G15. I had a cheap FFB joystick a while back and it was dismal, naturally it went in the rubbish not long after I purchased it.
  14. Thanks for the info Nate.
  15. How do you deactivate? I recently bought some new hardware, cpu, ram, motherboard and I have more/different ram coming next week. I regularly update hardware as I'm an enthusiast and the prospect of "losing" the game after 6 months or so really doesn't enthuse me. So it looks like I have lost an activation and now only have 7 or is it 6 left? If you ask me there is currently too much incentive to pirate the game with these restrictions.

    FPS?

  17. That looked to be a very cold day at sea level. If the game is modelled correctly that can play a large role.
  18. I think it's a great idea too. From what I understand the DVD version has training videos. I had to buy the download version as DVD's weren't available at the time, matter of fact I still haven't seen one. I'm trying to work out the datalink but the training mission for that is useless as it never pans up to the datalink control panel, however I understand that there is something on youtube which I haven't yet found. (I don't normally visit youtube) so a sticky incorporating all the resources would be a gem.
  19. Hmm, you should be able to stay airborne one engine out. I shutdown one the other day to make it back to base (short on fuel) Are you setting the collective so high that you're losing rotorspeed? ~50kts should give you the most translational lift. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Translational_lift
  20. EDIT: Quote Then I hit the start switch and only one light comes up in the APU gauge which is APU VLV OPEN. Nothing happens after that while in the video the other lights get lit up too. I've tried the whole procedure several times but I keep getting stuck there. I also tried by first requesting clearance to start the engines from the tower, makes no difference. You need to leave the engine selector which you are referring to as the APU selector in APU then hit the starter button that will start the APU. Then turn on the fuel pumps to the main engines select engine 1 (or left engine) with the selector release the rotor brake and hit the starter after this engine has started and is idling (it will take around 1 minute to stabilise) select engine 2 (right engine) and hit the starter. Don't forget to select the forward and rear tank fuel pumps either. You will find them on the panel just forward of the engine/apu fuel pumps. Keep practising you will get it eventually.
  21. Interestingly in the game I have had an engine shutdown on me due to excess vibration. I wonder how some here are getting away with these quick starts.
  22. My long post has disappeared. In short no there is no lockout. I'm not sure about the FADEC models but apart from the autostart feature I think they're the same. It comes down to metallurgy, the hot and cold ends are made of differing materials that heat/cool at different rates. When combustion begins the core can heat up to temperatures ranging anywhere from 800-1000°c in a matter of seconds so they have ernormous stresses placed on them. You need to remember these engines are very expensive costing in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Consequently you treat them like babies. Lubrication isn't really an issue, when you first hit the starter you should watch for movement in the oil pressure gauge. You have 10-15 seconds before combustion starts anyway so damage is possible but unlikely. 2 minute cool down is just as important as warming up. EDIT: Note this is the requirement for Allison C20-250 engines, others may have different requirements.
  23. No that feeling is a bit unrealistic although I have never flown a ka-50. Trimming in a helicopter is basically just recentering the stick, for example when you are cruising instead of holding the stick forward constantly, trim repositions the stick to the neutral position. You then have to retrim (turn trim off) before making any transitions.
  24. The twin squirrel (AS355F) needs two minutes in ground idle on each engine before they can be advanced to full power. Quickstart igniters in the engines can lower these times but they are very expensive. The only civilian helos (Gas turbine) I have seen that use them are medivacs although I would be surprised if the military didn't use them. They have the added advantage of being able to shutdown immediately as well without having to wait for the 2 minute cooldown.
