I am pretty sure this is not even in the scope of being looked at for the F16. It is unfortunate but it is kind of right around the period our f16 is based off from. Were they in service? Yes. Widely used and tested? No. I also think there is a software version difference allowing deployment of the newer JDAM based weapons like the SDB. It would really turn the f16 into a beast on the front line's. However I would think other planes would get the SDB as well if it was put in for the 16. Nothing wrong with that either IMO.

At high levels of zoom it will look pretty grainy in the real thing. Adjusting brightness/contrast should help a bit but in our case it doesn't do anything but adjust the pixelated look as well. I think whatever filter is being used is likely the culprit cause it shouldn't be as bad as it is.

This is certainly a file issue that is left over from removal of Windows 7 support. It also maybe due to locking the lua files that ED has done. 2.7 changed a lot of stuff and right now it seems like trying to load a mission twice inside the mission editor is a guaranteed crash especially if you have any mods. If you have any aircraft mods no solution really works to keep it from crashing sadly. There has to be a compiling problem from 2.7 that is causing this to happen to so many people. People making individual changes on there pc's and sometime's it works for a short period then crashes again or doesn't work for other's at all is pretty much a dead give away there is something in the code causing this problem.

Even in non VR it feels like looking through a screen door. Mav quality is great on both screens but the TGP for some reason is really blocky looking and far as I know unless your really zoomed in it shouldn't look like that.
-
Looking at the MFD's for the Viper is the TGP supposed to look really blocky as it currently does. The screen is heavily pixelated and you can see the square pixels that make up the screen. Now compare that to the screen looking through a MAV sensor and it's a different animal. Is this just EA stuff or is this going to be the way it always looks? I know the resolution of the mav screen's is hardly correct as it shouldn't be as clear as it is but the TGP on low zoom levels shouldn't look like staring through a screen door.

If I remember correctly there should be some HUD symbology on the DDI itself that shows the TGTPT and you put the cursor of the SLAM over the TGT Diamond and it should be really freakin close at that point using precise adjustments. That might be a 16 only thing but there should be some information on the display of the SLAM about where the target actually is according to what your TGP or WYPT coordinates gave it prior to launch.

I can't get the Designate to work. I have a key bound to TDC Depress but it doesn't pause the screen and I have a hell of a time guiding it in. Something tells me it's designed for Realistic TDC slew to be on in options.
-
If that's the case then what is the point of having PP mode at all. The JSOW/JDAM system needs some clarification from the Dev's i think in how it's supposed to work.

Really be nice to see if the crashing every second mission or trying to enter the f14 more than once. Don't see anything about it in patch notes so I'm guessing it's same thing. I know they have a small crew on the f16 at this point but after 6 month's of nothing for the viper it's really getting old.

You can only ripple Mav's if you have a single mav on the station's. If you carry a 65d on each pylon with no rack you can lock a target hit missle step to go to another station lock a target on the other mav and you can fire them. Keep ripple quantity at 1 on the SMS screen. When both mav's are locked you should have 2 circles in your HUD with a 1 and 2 you pickle one mav then pickle the other.

Ok so I messed around a bit with the mav's trying to get them to work better and this is what i've found. If starting on the ground from a cold start get the plane fired up like normal and get INS alignment done. After alignment is done the TGP should be ready to go. Enable Ground JETT and set Master Arm to simulate. Go into A-G mode and get the WPN screen up on right screen. You should be able to slave TGP to SP on the left screen. Use TMS Up to get a point track and be able to slew the TGP. Find a distant object that you can easily use as reference. (Building, Ship, or Add a Water Tower Static Object in the ME) Use TMS Up on the center point of the target and then switch to the mav screen. Use TMS Down to reject current target and the TPG/Mav should be pretty close but not right on. Slew the mav and Zoom FOV to the target and point you have locked on TGP. Use TMS Up to lock mav to the same point as the TGP and then click BRST on the Right MFD. Once boresighted use missle step to swap to other station DMS down to go to left screen TMS Up same point in TGP again. Repeat the process again slew MAV to point and TMS Up then click BRST. Once done you should be good to go on both stations being lined up before taking off. Disable ground Jett and put MA back to safe. Come out of A-G mode and they will stay boresighted. Using this method I have been able to use the mav's quite well. They don't always line up exactly but it get's very close and you just slew the mav a tiny bit to target and lock it. This process doesn't seem to be needed from an air start but from a hot start or cold start is seems to do quite well. I even got the Auto hand-off to work correctly with this method and fired off 6 mav's without ever touching the mav screen again. Hope this helps some of you until the SPI issues get resolved.

Found a pic but not sure it's a BLK 50 or not. That's the GBU-54 as well but I assume that's more modern than our BLK 50.

Curious if these pylons will be included on our F16 or will it just be the TER-9A? Even the background image has the BRU-33 pod holding 2 MK-82's. It should be a better rack to use when only carrying 2 MK 82's Or GBU-12's on 3 and 7 pylons. Don't know if there are any limitations that are in the RL bird. I edited the LUA file to include them and they seem to work just fine without any issues, haven't tried doing a 4 bomb pass or anything to see if the ripple settings work or not though.

[SPI RELATED] TPOD ccrp/slewing question
hawk4me replied to Aurora juutilainen's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Pretty sure this is a bug. I encountered this last night as well. The bomb goes for the original location of the STPT regardless of what the TGP is looking at. You can tell when it's not going to work because if you have to put the TGP in Area track (TMS Right) in order to move it then your bomb's and mavericks will not work correctly. Hopefully this is fixed on the 4th but no info on the viper yet so not holding my breath on that one. It's got something to do with the TGP for sure it's like TMS Up to designate target is ignored or something. -
Looks like the server's are having an issue right now. I got mine to go through but can't download yet. May just wait a bit for things to settle down.
-
Wags video does not work for what we have now. For instance he can select PRE mode and slew around without problems. Unless you do a TMS up you cannot move the TGP at all if the WPN screen is up. Once you do that TMS up it seems like that point gets locked by the mav even if you do a hand off once slewed over the target. The G version mav seems to work fine.
-
To elaborate on my post I think you are correct that you can ripple 2 right away after the first 2 you would need mark points for the other's to slave quickly lock and fire. Sort of the same way they work in the A10 using mark points. Pretty sure you cannot select additional mav's on the same station as they are selected by the rack itself to prevent mav's hitting eachother coming off the rail. Im not sure how your D's are following your TGP cause I can't even move my tgp in PRE mode until I TMS up which performs a handoff. After that doing a TMS Up shows hand off in progress but the seeker head doesn't move on the MAV. On some I have been able to get it to work by doing TMS up repeatedly until the seeker line's up. Other time's it just sits there. I've had it lock up a target then go after the original hand off point so something's not working right for sure. Technically though it shouldn't follow the TGP until they have been boresighted.
-
Until boresight is implemented using the TGP to hit things with mav's is going to be rough. Right now the mav has no idea where the tgp is looking so it can't follow it. However the MAV G works correctly but the D's do not. Once boresight is implemented you can find target with TGP handoff to the mav switch to another mav on a different target and handoff to that one. Ultimately you could ripple all 6 mav's on different targets doing this. Will it ever work this way in DCS though I doubt it.
-
I would think they have the Mav's working internally on the viper at this point. I think the system being much more complex on the viper is part of the reason for the delay. At this point however the viper needs something major pretty soon. It is a decent A2A platform and honestly my favorite A2A platform but we have F14 F15 for that and they do the job better due to the ability to stay on station for a far longer duration than the viper. F16 really needs to get in get the job done and get out. Right now they just don't really bring anything to the table.
-
Not really sure what benefit the sniper pod would have over what we currently have to be honest. Better picture resolution is the main one. I think it does have a better gimbal limit and gyro stabilization is better. Out side of that not really sure what benefit we would get.
-
Yea, that confirms it alright. I look at it this way if the TGP is feature complete before getting Mav's then the implementation of the rest of the weapons systems should be much smoother. JDAM's/JSOW's pretty much just use mark point's so not a huge issue there that I can see from a dev stand point. They already have TGP handoff for Mav's so that should make targeting much smoother. I do wish the TGP lock was more animated as it should zoom the cross onto the target before acquiring lock but that can be later. On the bright side of things the external model in those pictures looked really good so props to that. Being able to create STPT's from the tgp should be a welcome addition as well.

It's not really not having Mav's that bother me so much. It's not having much of anything really. All these fancy TGP updates for what? Drop 1 GBU circle around do it again. JDAM's JSOW's, Laser Rockets I mean anything to give the f16 a bit of stand off range. Dodging SAM's while trying to laser something is rough as hell. I don't like going up in an f18 to do a job come back land get in the f16 and then be like ok I can do something now. Again I applaud the updates to the TGP that means it's one less thing to be like oh uh yea no new weapons this month cause we had to adjust something. For the last 4 month's it's been crap like adjusted lighting in cockpit. Added some liveries. Add a STPT that you could already do with a TGP already anyways. Everyone understands EA I do as well but we where assured numerous time's Viper will not affect the hornet and same for the other way. Clearly this was bullspit from the beginning and people just want to see progress. The TGP is progress no doubt about it but opening up and being like here is where we stand Mav's are at X stage of development and we are shooting for Y day. Ever since 2.5.6 caused so many problems they have pushed updates out to once a month only and that makes hypes harder to stomach when they come up short. I will get off my complaint box now let me end with good work on the TGP ED. But still butt hurt on effectiveness of the viper.

I've been getting in the habit of getting to my target area pointing my VV at the area and changing to STPT 127 then using TMS Down. I can then move things all I want without affecting my navigation at all. As for testing the version I can see that being the case and needing the week to do that. Guess it's been so long since major viper updates it's like oh crap we getting the cake to! :) Guess we will be waiting till next patch cycle where we all ask the same questions again.
-
That junk is getting redic. I applaud the progress made on the TGP I really do. But no WPN page means no HOF changes to CBU no Mav or HARM's either. If they said the versions are locked down I don't see how that could be so if they still got a week left to tune stuff. Guess we shall see.
