Anyone knows which name the terrain has for the updater of a dedicated server? GERMANY_terrain it is not
-
It really is Ramstein, not the band name https://www.ramstein.af.mil/ I'm very happy to see all of Hahn, Pferdsfeld, Sembach and Ramstein included! Calls for some F-4, A-10 and F-16 action!

Vietnam War Vessels Update 1.0.0: New Ships & Key Improvements We've designated this release as 1.0.0 due to a breaking change in the CVA-31/Generic Essex class Lua structure. The GT.Name attribute was renamed to accommodate AA gun sounds, meaning missions using older versions (0.x.y) won't be compatible out of the box. However, AA guns are now functional, and both the catapult and island have been overhauled. New Additions - BB-62 New Jersey joins the fleet as a new capital ship. - USS Bigelow & USS Forrest Sherman arrive as new destroyers. - Several existing destroyers (Sumner, Laffey, Maddox, The Sullivans) now feature an improved bow wake for greater realism. Fixes & Enhancements - MiG-21MF landing gear now fully retracts, and the nose gear suspension has been partially animated. - HH-2 Seasprite & MiG-17F "Fresco-C" liveries were reorganized to optimize disk space. - Static HH-2 Seasprite with folded rotors is available in Cargos. - RA-5C distance LODs are now properly utilized. - A-1 Skyraider landing speed increased for more realistic approach patterns. This update brings significant refinements while introducing exciting new content—enjoy! Download available from github at https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Update video available on YouTube: Cheers, TeTeT

Meantime we've assembled everything for release 1.0.0. To set expectations - we picked the 1.0.0 version for simply one reason: There's a breaking change in the GT.Name of USS Bon Homme Richard - hence old missions won't work with the 1.0.0 CVA-31 carrier (or generic Essex). Here some preview pics, a static HH-2 with folded rotors (in the cargos section), an improved island and cat of CVA-31, a battleship BB-62 New Jersey and two new DDs, USS Bigelow and USS Forrest Sherman. If no major problems are found, Vietnam War Vessels 1.0.0 will go live later this week. Cheers, TeTeT

Hmm, that means the current settings stopped working? We definitely added both and tested it as well: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/vwv-cvn65-modern/blob/b46b37d9142132f5c03b2ec5388b46f05a6d5fda/Database/cvn-65.lua#L39-L44 Not sure what's going on.
-
Right now not - I had some plans to add the lights for night operations, in sync with an update to CVA-31 for night ops. But this hasn't really been progressed in the past months. I hope the Enterprise is usable as is. I'll check with James what's the status of a 1960ies version of it, but it might be way down the road.

Thanks for the bug report! Not sure we will revisit the MiG-17F anytime soon, but the MiG-21MF is definitely on the bucket list. Just not sure when there will be time
-
Hi Beldin, you're always welcome and looking forward to your future contributions Real life has been busy the past two and a half months - and will continue to be so, as we have a baby coming next week (if he stays on schedule ). Not sure where that will leave my modding hobby, but meantime James J Jackson and seabat and github contributor Druss99 continue to push forward! Cheers, TeTeT

Maintenance update Vietnam War Vessels 0.9.1 James J. Jackson has been focusing on the destroyers, leading to some updates in their visuals and effects, including navigation lights, new wake definitions, and updated main fire control units. Additionally, two aircraft have received improvements: the RA-5C Vigilante now features a black front cockpit plate, and the A-1 Skyraider has been equipped with Mk-81 bombs in its pylon layout. Also the Skyraider unit payload was fixed. Due to size the download is split into two parts. The base, which contains the assets themselves, and the liveries, with additional skins for the assets. Download from https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Enjoy! TeTeT

Spot on! It will be in development for a little while longer before we can share it though.

The Voodoo has always been on my wishlist since playing Wings over Vietnam. Though I rather not make any promises we cannot deliver. I have a model kit of a Voodoo, but my photogrammetry (sp?) attempt failed. Have to revisit this one day. Speaking of one day, currently real life activities such as home renovation and moving eat away all the modding time for me. It's uncertain when this will relax again. Nevertheless, James J Jackson is working on a bigger vessel, much bigger than any plane: Cheers, TeTeT

Kudos really goes to Tobsen and EightBall, as they wrote the VAP config, I merely copied what I needed. The positioning field is needed, but it's not clear to me on which table exactly. I'm a bit short of time right now to check this myself, so you might want to do some testing.
-
Yes, there is a setting in the lua that controls that. I forgot which one, but if you look at the VAP buildings, you will find some that stay level and others that tilt. I used the values from the once that stay level in Vietnam War Vessels Buildings. You can d/l a preview from https://tetet.de/dcs/mods/vwv_buildings-2024-10-31.zip if you don't want to grab the whole mod. Good luck, TeTeT

Not aware of a dedicated skin pack for the Thud, but there seems to be a paint kit. Check this discord channel for the link: https://discord.com/channels/680908853042479124/1243868322953695284

The VSN team is working on a flyable Whale, stay tuned
-
That's pretty bad. The F-8 only has a SFM (Simple Flight Model) currently and is not able to operate under player control from carriers. Probably we should retire the flyability of MiG-17F and F-8, as nobody in the team has time to test this aspect, or even if tested, to improve it. Cheers, TeTeT
-
Yes, indeed. We copied the logo to *\ImagesGUI\MainMenuLogo.png to give a unified look there when you use the mod. Before we had different aircraft and ship logos there. I'm not aware how you can change that further, if a mod or module does not provide it's own MainMenuLogo.png Cheers, TeTeT

The Enterprise has a similar problem. We sort of worked around it by shortening the runway length in the definition for cat 3 and 4. {{-36.638, 18.46, -17.912}, 352.92, 106.4, 25.0, 0, 2.5, 2.8, 3.0, 3.0, 3.2, 3.5}, {{-46.811, 18.46, -31.578}, 0.0, 127.7, 25.0, 0, 2.5, 2.8, 3.0, 3.0, 3.2, 3.5}, Maybe change 106.4 to 96.4 or 86.4, and likewise for 127.7 to something much shorter and test again. Cheers, TeTeT

Description files Thanks to @tanax bug report, we now made the descriptions files available in a separate download: https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases/download/VWV_0.9.0/TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.descriptions.0.9.0.zip We'll need to fix the situation going forward and repair the faulty script. @Stackup I'm not aware how we can add the radial engine sound without changing the engine to radial in the config. Unfortunately it didn't take off from a carrier when we did so. Maybe it's time for a re-test, seems ED has been fixing carrier code lately. Cheers, TeTeT
-
Thanks for letting us know! Seems this has always been the case, as I use the same (faulty) script since a bunch of releases. Working on a fix now.

Did you get the liveries pack as well and installed it? https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases/download/VWV_0.9.0/TeTeT.VietnamWarVessels.liveries.0.9.0.zip We had to split the base from the liveries, due to a 2GB file size limit for Releases on github.

Hi, meantime we've found (by accident almost) the cure for the A-1 and F-8 colliding issue. You need to replace the F-8 collision shell: Download https://tetet.de/dcs/mods/crusader_collision.edm Place the downloaded file, crusader_collision.edm, in "TeTeT VietnamWarVessels base 0.9.0\TeTeT VietnamWarVessels 0.9.0\TeTeT VWV\mods\aircraft\vwv_F-8\Shapes" Install with your favourite mod manager, or copy to your Saved Games as usual Good luck and sorry for the inconvenience! Cheers, TeTeT

Hi, Vietnam War Vessels 0.9.0 is out and can be downloaded from https://github.com/tspindler-cms/tetet-vwv/releases Release video: From the github announcement: Vietnam War Vessels 0.9.0 Update: New Ships, Planes, and Improvements! We’re excited to share the highlights of VWV 0.9.0, which brings new destroyers, aircraft, and updates to enhance your experience. New Destroyers This release expands the mod’s fleet with two Sumner-class destroyers: USS Laffey (DD-724): A historic ship that has been preserved and can still be visited in real life! Allen M Sumner (DD-692): The class's namesake ship joins the fleet alongside the USS Moale, available as a livery option. Both destroyers, like the Fletcher-class ships in the mod, are presented in their FRAM II configurations, complete with flight decks originally designed for the DASH (Drone Anti-Submarine Helicopter). In-game, these decks can accommodate the OH-6 mod or even the UH-1H, though space is tight for the latter! Updates to Existing Ships USS Maddox (DD-731): Now updated to reflect its 1964 configuration, aligning closer to its historical appearance during the Gulf of Tonkin incident. USS The Sullivans (DD-537): The ship wake issue has been resolved for smoother visuals. Aircraft Enhancements Updated Aircraft A-1 Skyraider: Overhauled visuals and collision shell improvements ensure better compatibility with the latest DCS updates. While some minor clipping issues remain, we’re actively working on a fix. MiG-17F Fresco: Now features two Syrian liveries: Early Sixties and Seventies variants. New Aircraft MiG-21MF "Fishbed-J": This interceptor, used by the North Vietnamese Air Force in the 1960s, joins the mod. While texture work is ongoing, it’s ready for action! RA-5C Vigilante: A carrier-borne reconnaissance jet, available with multiple liveries for different carriers. Note: Due to its size, the Vigilante may be challenging to use on standard DCS carrier deck layouts. Starting from the runway is recommended unless further deck modifications are applied. Flagship Updates CVA-31 Bon Homme Richard Updates The Bon Homme Richard model has received visual improvements, including: New rescue boats, antennas, and searchlights for added realism. Kudos go to all contributors to the 0.9.0 mod: ChedforceOne (RA-5C livery) GKABS and Stratos (RA-5C pilot) Hawkeye60 (A-1 and MiG-17 work) Helijah (A-5 base model from FlightGear) James J Jackson (new Destroyers and updates) mrflyboy (testing) Odyseus (MiG21-MF overhaul, BHR improvements) seabat (all those liveries and testing) Seabiscuit (new xcf for ship numbers) Showtime 100 (testing and helo landing on Destroyers) Slapshot (CVA-31 and Essex based A-4 missions) toan (testing, wake file help, lua fine tuning) Whiplash (screenshots) Keep in mind that we have an on-going call for donations for Helijah, the author of the Vigilante model: If you like his catalog of 300+ free planes, please support him via the donate link on http://helijah.free.fr/flightgear/hangaren.htm We hope you enjoy exploring the new and updated content in VWV 0.9.0. Your feedback and suggestions are always welcome as we continue to refine and expand the mod. KNOWN ISSUE When 4 A-1 and 4 F-8 launch from CVA-31, one of the F-8 will drive into one of the A-1. This results in the F-8 becoming in-operational and despawning. Some Screens from Whiplash for you:

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
TeTeT replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Wonderful screens, especially at night! Well done! -
Thanks for your kind words! I shared them with the team over at discord as well and they are well appreciated Meantime we've put together a first release candidate for Vietnam War Vessels 0.9.0. The zip is a massive 2GB download already, unpacked it will impact your disk with ~8GB. So the mod is still growing, thanks to the various contributors: RA-5C Vigilante initial release MiG-21MF "Fishbed-J" initial release DD-692 Allen M Sumner initial release DD-724 Laffey initial release Unless we find critical bugs in the mod, we will push this out next week before Christmas! Cheers, TeTeT
