Yeah this is an issue with the mission editor that I believe people have been asking for a remedy for since LockOn.

CONFIRMED: Next aircraft will be a fixed wing US FIGHTER!
Kaiza replied to kingneptune117's topic in Chit-Chat
This is a trick thread. From the front page it says "CONFIRMED: Next aircraft.." -
Thanks guys. I have never o/c'd a CPU before. Can much go wrong/ is there much risk involved. I have a coolmaster V8 fan, will this be suitable for o/cing? Thanks again

Hi- I have the following system: Phenom II X940 Black Edition GigaByte GA-MA74GM-S2 740G Chipset DDR2/800 SATA RAID PCI-Express MBoard 4 GB DDR 800 GTX 275 GPU I am looking to upgrade for under 300 bucks to keep me going on A-10c and Cliffs Of Dover for the next couple of years (if possible!). Any thoughts on what I could do? I was thinking possibley O/Cing and upgrading to a 560Ti? What is the likely bottleneck here? Any thoughts/help is much appreciated. Cheers!

The HUD ladder lines up with aircraft track, so what you are experiencing is a strong cross wind.

The SAS takes care of turn coordination in the A-10c, so you shouldn't need pedals for turning unless you have a SAS problem.
-
ATC is a bit non standard but the vector they give you is the heading you should fly. So 240 means turn onto 240. The second number, I believe, is altitude in meters. 5 being 5 hundred. As I say- very non standard... And no, you aren't alone, as soon as I buy something I am thinking about what I am getting next....

I'd love to have an option to run it off real TAFs/ARFORs. Squads could plan missions and tactics based on the RL wx prognosis.

Airport elevation and adjusting my barometric altimeter
Kaiza replied to Conure's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Yep. Round to nearest 10 and divide by 10 = runway name/number. As an aside a quick way to get the reciprocal runway heading is the +2/-2 rule. So either add 2 to the first number of the runway name, and then do the opposite to the other. 0+2 = 2 3-2 = 1 So for 03, the reciprocal runway would be 21 -
Airport elevation and adjusting my barometric altimeter

If it was facing 026 it would be runway 03 (or 3 in the US) -
I have a mate with a 2.Ghz dual core of some description, GTX250 and 8 gig of RAM on Win 7. Any comments from the tech gurus on whether he will be able to run high textures (even if everything else is med/low)? Cheers

really getting sick and tired of this bullshit game
Kaiza replied to the_soupdragon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
If it all gets too much just put it away and wait for the release mate. Its just a beta remember. Dont let the beta scar your view of what the release will be -
Military deconfliction out of airfields in war time is normally achieved by classified departure procedures specifically designed for the current airfield threats and will often involve some form of randomisation. On station deconfliction is sorted in a number of manners, but normally via an Airspace Coordination Order, which assigns aircraft to a particular peice of airspace defined by both vertical and lateral boundaries (such as a killbox). This will often be coordinated from a ship, ground station or another aircraft. Often aircraft operating within a common peice of airspace deconflicting visually and via radar will have safety altitudes so that if everything goes pear shaped and someone goes tumbleweed (looses all SA) aircraft can deconflict by immediately climbing or descending to their assigned safety altitude block.

Thank you for including MP JTAC ED, it is very much appreciated.

Yep all very true. I guess in this modern combat environment SA on enemy threats is not as important as SA on blue forces for CAS aircraft and therefore minimises the imeptus to ensure such information is included on their plot. Obviously the other hindrance is that too much information sucks SA rather than improving it. Having an entire battlefield picture on your TSD would be the recipe for a helmet fire, but of course operators have filter options.
-
Unfortunately SADL is designed for situational awareness for close air support aircraft with troops on the ground, so very few aircraft with radars would be on a SADL network (believe some F-16s may have it?). Most airborne battlefield information is broadcasted on Link 16 or Link 11. As andree said you need a gateway to put SADL data on a Link 16 network or vice versa. I don’t know how many aircraft have SADL/Link gateways but it would only be on C2 style aircraft. Although the system does seem a little flawed in that F15 CAP etc pop up on SADL in DCS, I think people should keep in mind that the primary purpose of SADL is to provide CAS aircraft with situational awareness of ground units, and in particular ground friendly units, rather than a whole battlefield picture.

Cool pic!. Was about to refine my answer to HC Mk1 as it looked like an RAF helmet. OK, this will probably be easy for you spotters, but what peice of hardware is this apendage attached to? Uploaded with ImageShack.us -

I have has a little bit of success doing this. From memory I was using a release angle of about 45-50 nu. The only real application I found is using terrain as masking and tossing over it. I was not getting any great distance, the target had to be very close to the hill I was using as cover. Would love to try it with Gbu 12s buddy lasing.
