Yeah thats what I do too, but the OP is referring to slave TGP to steerpoint, not SPI to steerpoint. SPI to steer point is TMS back long not china hat aft long.

Thanks for posting. Incredible vid, watched it 8 times over. I wonder how long it'll be 'till someone lands without a parachute...

It is not a function I ever really use, and I too have wondered when I would use it. Steerpoints are normally put on an area of interest. So I guess if you wanted to check that area quickly, while keeping your SPI on another target you can do that. For instance if your steerpoint is on a compound but your SPI is on a tank further down the road you can switch between the two quickly. By the way- China hat aft long slews just the TGP to the steerpoint not all sensors.

Hi mia. Played your mission tonight, it was really good we enjoyed it. The feedback I would have is: -Yep refuelling was very sporting. The tanker would pitch up and down and sometimes even flip over. It settled out in the end for me, luckily as I only had 1100 pounds left. -Concur with some extra air defence to mix it up a bit on the airfields etc. -I like the feature of having SAMS in the towns, it keeps people on their toes and makes people plan a little more. -There are a few spelling mistakes in it. "Apaches" is one that I remember from the brief. There was another in the brief and a couple that came from the JTAC, I am sorry I cant remember them. Thanks again!

Yeah sure is. I would like to know more about this also.

With .0.9 it looks like your last markpoint will be displayed on the TAD so it gets even easier, you'll just be able to hook that!
-
Wow, lots if changes I am really impressed. Great to see alot of the previously not modeled switches/handles being implemented. I am especially excited about this: That is absolutely fantastic news. This will be awesome and will increase SA immensely. I was going to post something like this is features wish list last night but ran out of time. No need now!! Fingers crossed MP gets a bit more love in the next patch.

Yep, just took a look at your track, your waypoint elevation is 9800'. You are doing everything right, the TGP is looking right on the WP, its just that its up in the sky. This is evident as the waypoint marker floating high in your HUD. You can modify the waypoint elevation in the waypoint page of the CDU. I assume you are doing this as a bit of an exercise as you are probably aware you dont have to hook a waypoint on the TAD manually, you can just use TMS aft long to make your steerpoint the SPI and then china hat fwd long to slew? Hooking points on the TAD is most useful for JTAC data or hooking other flights mini SPIs. Phazon are you sure you arent setting a markpoint on the TAD and then slewing to that? I didnt think setting a random point on the TAD as a SPI was possible, I thought you actually had to hook something.

Labels off most definitely in my opinion. Of course switch back if you arent getting the same enjoyment out of the game, but as stated you will get a lot more satisfaction out of finding and destroying targets with them off. Yes the argument that the screen res doesn't give you the detail you would have in real life is valid, however I think using the zoom function is a far better way to compensate for this. Using zoom and having labels of any sort is too much IMO. Not to mention labels make your screenshots lose all cred.

What is this little white arrow for on the ADI?
Kaiza replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Flew an ILS the other night and noticed this too. I have to agree that it seems highly doubtful that this pointer occurs in a real A-10c. If so the engineer that designed that HMI should be shot. -
1) There is a lot of cheat sheets and manuals that people have made. My fav is flamin_squirrels program: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60438 2) Flaps 30 can't be achieved. I would say it is a flap indicator from another aircraft. Many aircraft use common parts. More discussion here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=65846 3) No it appears it doesnt, from what I have seen. Its a pity it doesnt have a DSMS/fuel input to give you AUW as that would be useful. Again I use squirrels program. Some more good info here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=59553&highlight=a-10+TOLD Sounds like in your day job you might use an FMC/FMS?

Trial and error until ED add a sat view unfortunately

I'll be there. KC freq?
-
Yep but they are talking about the black dome on the left main landing gear fearing not the fake canopy.
-
Nice. BTW you can turn the TACAN audio ident off on the intercom control panel by pushing the volume knob in.
-
You should be shooting from .7 to .5 NM away, so the tank will be in full view and you shouldnt need the TGP diamond. Check out Matts vid: http://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt#p/a/u/0/w_syY84odcY

Saitek X52 Pro - Wild Pitching Up - Please Help!!
Kaiza replied to thebluemantis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
On my X52 I would sometimes get random pitching and it would be because the plug in the back of my throttle had come out a little and wasnt seated properly inside its socket. Next time it happens try checking your connections. May not be your problem (as has nothing to do with rctrl) but worth a shot. -
Clever way to remember TMS vs China Hat commands
Kaiza replied to latearrival's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I don't have any clever way of remembering it, but what I do think helps is to actually get it clear in your mind what the switches are called and why they are called that. DMS is data management, so it will always be related to aranging data, changing scales etc TMS is target management so it will always be related to tracking/locking targets, making SPIs. If china hat had an name similar to these I think it would be something like SMS- Sensor management switch. It it used to change sensor settings, field of views, slew etc. So when you approach a situation where u are not sure what to do think what am I trying to do here? Am I trying to target or untarget something? If so TMS. Am I trying to manipulate a sensor? If so china hat. -
Yep, often the weapon to use gets clipped off my 9 line also. He will say "Use...." but the text works.

If you are making your own mission to try this, make sure that in the ME actions list of the JTAC EPLRS is above FAC task or else you data will not come through.
-
Personally, an addon pack with battlefield commander mode (with ability to create units on the fly etc) and fully functional JTAC that was playable in multiplayer I would pay good money for. The replayability of missions (which i feel is DCSs biggest draw back) would be endless.
-
Gonzo are you sure it wasn't just the order of your tasks in the action menu? It seems that if you have freq, callsign or EPLRS after the FAC or FAC-Engage group, then they will not function correctly as that task will take priority. The JTAC will attempt to send data but nothing will come. Perhaps by deleting the vehicle you reset your EPLRS to the top of the action menu priority list which is why it worked? If I have EPLRS above the FAC task it works every time.
