Sounds great except according to my calendar Thursday is the 21st . So I guess it’s either Wednesday or Thursday. Either way I’ll be ordering!

Help should I buy 4070TI or 7900XTX?
TED replied to Flameout777's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I’m using a 7900xtx and love it. It’s great for dcs and the vram is plenty. Prior to that I used a 6900xt which also performed very well. Personally I prefer the amd adrenaline software as well over nvidia. I fly only in vr and used a Pimax 8kx and now a pico 4 on godlike settings without any issues and fly mostly liberation/retribution which are very intensive on the system. -
I recently started trying to really learn the viper, having learnt the a10c, Hornet and harrier before. I have to say I found the viper very frustrating to begin with as well as some of the logic follows through from the the others and some is totally different. Now however I really love it and find it very easy to use. My cas workflow is selecting tpod, select a weapon in vis or dtos mode, hmcs as soi, long tms up then short up on the target area Im looking at. Then dms down to reselect tgp as soi, and designate a target. if it’s something I’ll come back to I’ll select mark on icp, ensure tgp on the cni is selected by dobber switch, then tms up short. Mark point saved. I find myself now using mavericks and other guided munitions this way, then using ccip bombing for most cluster and unguided stuff to clean up. take out the really dangerous stuff with mavericks or agm154 then ccip on the rest.

I have also been getting this recently, since the last update. I’ve been through everything from cores, gpu settings, windows settings. Normally I have a solid 72fps except for when there is a freeze. I noticed that deleting the metashaders file before game significantly delays this. Tried lowering all graphical settings but this did not help. Eventually I went the other way and increased visible range and scenery draw distances with maxing the preload radius and forest visibility. This seems to significantly improve for me and so far no freezes. Something seems to be going awry as dcs populates the shaders and metashaders in game possibly.

It seems my stutters and laga are back, so it's not vdxr related. It's same with both vdxr and steamvr. Graphics setting don't seem to affect much. I lowered a lot of things and still get these lags every few minutes. It all began around a work ago and I'm at a total loss so far what is causing this but seems to be related to the latest update for me. I'll keep investigating and hopefully come up with some better ideas.

I was also getting these strange and new (for me) spikes, stutters and lags with sometimes freezing completely. This began about a week ago. I went through everything from cpu cores, gpu settings to general windows background processes. I am on a pico 4 with amd7900 xtx. The culprit for me was VDXR. As soon as I reverted to steamvr everything cleared up. Just did some tests now using h264 with 400mbps, godlike settings in pico and msaa x2 with no upscaling. Everything ran perfectly and looks beautiful again. All is very smooth and even all microstutters are gone. I loaded plenty of other assets to push things a bit and it was rock solid.

I'm with Joch on this. I've been nothing but happy with my WW stuff. An orion 2 throttle base with f18 and f16 grips. Phoenix MIP setup with f18 ufc and 3 MFDS. I found everything to work perfectly, it's good quality and a fair price. My experience with my vkb gunfighter however was less positive. The ultimate grip was horrible and I replaced it with my old tm grip.

Im really impressed with what winwing is doing these days. I have their f18 setup with mfds and ufc as well as the Orion 2 throttle with f18 and 16 throttles. I love it. I fly only in vr but the mfds are and ufc are very easy to use. I can use the pass through on the pico if I need to do more on the ufc. I’m pretty sure I’ll get this f16 icp! I just wish now they’d make an Apache TEDAC

Which headset are you using and at what settings? There's so many variables that cam make it quite confusing. I've been through this myself with various headsets but always managed to fix it so hang in there.

What are the best VR headsets (for DCS) on the market right now?
TED replied to Buckeye23's topic in Virtual Reality
If u r not already, I'd definitely recommend using vdxr and not bother with streaming assistant. -

TED replied to Buckeye23's topic in Virtual Reality
I have had 4 vr headsets now, and all have been good in their own way. I went from rift s, to reverb g2, Pimax 8kx and now Pico 4. Surprisingly, certainly to me, is that the pico 4 is by far my favorite and also probably the cheapest, which sounds crazy to me. It’s such an outstandingly good value headset, with wonderful image quality from the screens. I find it very comfortable especially compared with the 8kx and the tracking has never once let me down. Running godlike settings and vdxr it’s just so damn good. I bought it initially out of curiosity really as I was tired of the Pimax comfort and pain in the ass setup with tracking base stations and persistent slight double vision due to overlapping. i was absolutely blown away by how well it works and didn’t even miss the fov of the 8kx. -
I have one. Love it. No problems for me. Works great with reverb g2, 8kx and pico 4.

Help Required. Not getting good enough graphics
TED replied to windsurfingstew's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm using a 7900xtx and very happy with it. Had a 6900xt and 3080 before that. 7900xtx is fantastic when dialled in. Probably quite headset dependent but I've used a reverb g2, 8kx and bow pico 4. For my setup I use max resolution on all headsets. Looking at your settings I'd start at the top and reduce resolution immediately from where u have it to the lowest setting. That's only desktop resolution so no effect in vr. I don't use upscaling at all but use msaa x2. I reduce textures to medium and terrain textures to high. Also reduce shadows. Clouds to low as it doesn't seem to make much difference to vr image but does affect performance. Also i reduce clutter and forest a little as well as antisopotric filter to x4. For me all that looks great and if there's still overhead I'd prefer to oversample the resolution than add more shadows and clutter. I think lowering these settings will give u a lot more performance without noticeable worse image, thus allowing you to oversample and get a better graphical image. -
Solved!!!! Indeed as @mrsylvestre mentioned, it was indeed to do with fps limiting. Whilst I was not using motion repro or ssw, I was running 90hz and capping to 45fps in openxr. This locked latency 22ms. After a lot of different tests I finally worked out that if I cap fps at anything else other than 45 latency goes down. So instead I used 90hz and capped to 60fps and latencies are way down. The same worked running at 72hz. The nice thing about this is that I can do it on the fly in game directly without needing to restart with openxr toolkit. If the mission is busy I can adjust to get stable fps and smooth experience.

Thanks and that does sound like it makes a lot of sense. I do not actually use any reprojection though, although I lock the fps to 45 in openxr while running 90fps target. However, it is possible that this could be reflected in the numbers for latency. I will check this a bit more tomorrow but your explanation certainly gives me some more food for thought and something I hadn't thought about at all. It explains why it is locked at 22ms no matter what I change. I definitely think you are on to something with this. Thanks again.

I've done some more testing and no matter what I adjust game latency remains at 22. The other encoding and decoding and network are all well under 10. I tried with SA and it was lower but i really don't like sa. The image is worse and I'm unable to do a lot of thr other tweaking, such as fps. If anyone has any ideas about what causes dcs high latency, I'd be very interested. I've even replaced all ny ethernet cables with cat 6e. Something strange is going on anyway.
-
Ibtried switching between steamvr and vdxr and no difference. I adjusted the graphics settings down and no difference. The issue appears to be the game latency, which is fixed basically at 22ms while the other latencies are relatively low. No idea what causes this or what affects it yet.

Yes..I was starting to suspekt that too. I'll check using steamvr later. Good tip.

Can anyone offer advice on maintaining a solid 1200mbs rate? I'm using a dedicatwd wifi 6 router (tp link archer5400) with my PC plugget into a LAN port on the router, then pico 4 is on the 5ghz wifi network from the same router. Nothing else is on the network. The router is in the same room and right next to my PC, so only a couple of meters from the headset. The bitrate fluctuates a lot from 1200 to 720 mbs and latencies are quite high, usually around 60+. I'm using vd and vdxr. When justbin vd looking at the desktop all is good with 1200mbs and latency around 5.

I use the openxr toolkit to limit frame rates to 45. Works very well. I used to the same with the 8kx and reverb g2.

So now after realizing my mistake and not oversampling I am getting great results with this little pico. In fact I even oversampled now to 170% in openXR developer tools, added msaa x2, shadows all on and all other detail sliders up to max or close to max. I found 90hz with fps capped to 45 works best for me with ssw off. I found it would actually hold 72fps most of the time and this looks really good, however low level in the f18 caucuses map, could cause fps to drop a bit into 60s, so capping at 45fps on 90hz leaves a rock solid fps at all times. codec is hvec at the moment but may play with this later. getting rid of the steamvr overheads has really helped me. I’m amazed still that openxr is not the default as it just seems to be so much more stable and easier to use than anything else. The competence and understanding Matthieu Buccia has for programming and providing what the user actually needs is outstanding.
-
Ahhhh... of course. Thanks. I'd missed that and would explain the blurriness. I'll test again and see if I can work out the dropped frames. Very likely its in my gpu setup as I can see neither my gpu or cpu are working desperately hard so there's lots more overhead.
-
I got the vdxr beta installed and working. I did some initial testing but so far haven't managed to get it looking as good as I had in steamvr. I seem to be getting a lot more compression type artifacts and dropped frames for some reason. The image is a lot more soft and blurry. I will need to adjust and tweak more to test everything properly.

When I downloaded the github zip folder i could not actually find an installer. I clearly missing a simple step here, so apologies for the dumb questions. I always used openxr with my g2 and later 8kx, but can't seem to work it out with the pico. How do I actually install and use VDXR with the pico?
