Get em Hippo! No seriously I pretty much +1 everything Hippo has said recently before and after this post. Showing equal results and having an equal DCS experience both in sim and in community. This FPS fiasco since it STARTED has had me seriously concerned for DCS as a whole. For me the core is hurting with or without AI but objects in general seem to be doing severe damage. This isnt for dramatics, but I really am getting the "unfixable" vibe for months... Again, I really wish ED luck and I hope they start increasing resources on a resolution (whatever that might entail).

Honestly I am worried about this too. I am no programmer, but I've been around the block enough times to get distracted by the lady in the red dress. I can't help but to be worried DCS has hit its limit and we are gonna be stuck for awhile. Why oh why didnt I take the blue pill...

I've been running 2.5 before the major fps crises. This is the first update I have done in what... 3 months now? For me it is a Confirmed. Still bad. There are slight improvements but overall the stutter/frame rates kills the sim. As has been the case AI or even static objects still seem to hurt FPS alot. The movement is just god awul. Things stutter. It is a shame becuase the sim looks so great and all the improvements made over the month are really lacking in the 2.5! Still I am unsure if I am rolling back again. I am primarily "testing" with missions I was very familiar with before 2.6. Hit. Primarily "Ode To Mongo", "Dire Straights", "Strike Fighter" and other FA-18 classics. I do own all modules but one and can confirm the nil results range across the lot. I have track files but I'm not on the machine and I'm sure ED has enough. Its a shame becuase the sim does look beautiful. The imrpovements would melt my mind, but the thing is frankly unplayable. It was playable before and I have a new, money sucking machine. One would think it should be at least average for me. Definetly not below average as is the case. There is no way the advertised specs are anywhere close to realistic now, but I guess that also goes without saying. So I beg ED; Please fix this guys. Please. I wish you luck but please, just fix this already.

FPS bump by disabling GameDVR in Windows 10 via registry
Fang333333 replied to Mustang's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I am using VR and it seems to have a SLIGHT increase in smoothness. Indeed I will be saving this forum on my bookmark. Thanks! seems to have no adverse affects -
If you would like more details about why there is no stable just look at the bugs/performance section. For all those waiting for stable patch... LOOK AT THE BUGS/PERFORMANCE PAGE! Stop looking at one thread and assuming there are improvements! There are game breaking issues that YOU DONT WANT FOR STABLE. Please...For the love of all thats holy, BEFORE asking about a STABLE UPDATE, actually LOOK to see if people are REALLY REPORTING improvements. Also, please push back Supercarrier if no performance fixes have been made. Its not fair for us who have really invested in this sim to not have the early release they were promised. Thanks

Is there a reinstall you recommend? I own nearly all the modules so 2 copys on a SSD is not really possible.

Hey guys, like many of you, my sim has been broke since Feb. I reverted back a version, (before DCS 2.6 Vista) and have been playing outdated glitchy software since. I am noticing that despite me now being several version's behind, the FPS seems to be degrading again! It is as if the old 2.6 build is somehow seeping through. Missions that just a few weeks ago played ok (again on an 2.5) are now becoming UNPLAYABLE! I'm an old Sim Vet but I know nothing about the tech side of things. I would think a bug like this could not cross a different build but sure enough, there is a MAJOR problem. The "Symptoms" of 2.6 (AI decreasing performance, Stennis, Smoke trails) all seem to be seeping into my 2.5 now. I don't know how or what or why, but literally as a symptoms go, there is no other way to explain it. I have not bothered to update again since I reverted back, so how could this be? edit: I am talking about single missions Thanks all
-
Nope. We are NON-essential.
-
Keep hoping. ED has had a broken sim for months. They know it and they are just letting it skate. As a long time sim guy, I have never seen anyone treat a game breaking bug like this.
-
I must be the oddman out becuase all I care about is actually being able to PLAY the sim again. Another long lost list of: "We added this, but you can't use it. Stop by again in 2 weeks" I wish I could share the absolute utter dispair that these useless patch releases are causing. I've had a broken glitchy reverted version of this software now for 2 months and still (somehow!??) no end in sight.
-
And yet another patch with misplaced priorities. Hey no worries. We dont need to actually PLAY the sim.
-
Thanks! Actually when I saw your response I was doing just that. I went to mission editor and moved my plane close to the target. After many days I may have figured out a system. Basically, If I release within 7.4 miles and quickly steer the missile back on target, I have a chance. Then I have to ever so slightly nudge the thing, wait, nudge wait. Its not totally solid, but yesterday I did complete the full hour and a half mission killing both targets. For reference it was the Dawn Raiders mission

Can anyone even tell me if this is normal????

Agree 1000x over. As a big fan/supporter of this sim (both wallet and otherwise) I feel ED needs improvement on these things. That being said, Bignewy has reported a patch being scheduled for next week. I have been scouring this damn forum everyday for weeks since this happened, so I just want to spread the news.
-
I noticed BigNewy has not mentioned it on here, but he just posted that another patch is set for next week. Fingers crossed

Unstable frame rate after last update
Fang333333 replied to Predator-78's topic in Game Performance Bugs
FPS in the 2.6 OB updates can be huge fails right now. A lot of VR users (like myself) are running several versions behind until an update. Look up FPS issues in the Report Bug section for more info -
Hey folks I've been working with the AGM-62 and having poor results. In the main training I'm ok. Also in the Practice mission its ok. But when I try one of the single mission's that came with the Persia map I have serious issues. The mission target is a building and missile launchers. My problem is that when using the pod (because the AGM itself, it does not seem to acquire right) it constantly loses it's target. Basically, if I drop it and make corrections in the first 1/3 of the AGM's flight, it's mostly ok. If I so much as tap the TDC after a 1/3rd of its travel to the target, the bomb fly's over. Even I get lucky and release it dead on, if I make any slight correction after 1/3 of its travel, the bomb loses it's lock and slews around wildly. This has been tested at many altitudes from 15000 to 25000 and many speeds. I am also setting my waypoint designate target and letting it lock but on release it slew "jumps" up and I need to quickly point back down. I thought the purpose of these was to be able to gently guide it in, no? Is this normal? I am 3 patch releases behind (the last 2.5 before the 2.6 OB FPS killer) So could this just be patching problem? Eager to hear your advice, Fang

Thank You BigNewy. I've been on here everyday skimming for news. Next week cannot come soon enough... For so many reasons
-
As always, thank you BigNewy This has been done a month ago. I am severel release behind and it has its own issues. For example, I no longer have a debrief screen at start, my FA-18 HUD gun overlaps the ladder and AI still somehow effect fps despite me rollong back, its only PASSABLE fps-wise when it performed like FIRE before. Obviously, theres no sense in reporting these as I am not in a current version all I can do is checkback every day. Hoping for a change and funtioning update.

The VR guys have been waiting patiently for months and its not an fps loss. Its been unplayable. Most of us reported this in good faith. Months ago. We waited. Never heard any DETAILED info. Alot of us are Early Access. Alot of us are Youtube or other form of online streamers. This has effected other DCS projects. Probably affected small streaming channels and the small income they get. Virtual Squadrons I have seen complain about server having low traffic. We appreciate the works of members like BigNewy, we are glad this is said to be REreported monday, but frankly enough is enough. STOP the stupid fixes and graphic tweaks immediatly! Give us detailed info and tell us whats going on. Forget about Super Carrier (Alot of us cannot play it if its released) Rollback this if necessary and stop kicking the can farther down the road.
-
Very respectfully, I would not call a 6fps jump while your frames are still halved and vr unusable an "improvement"
-
No This should have been the ONLY priority. I keep wondering whats gonna happen when they realize all these "fixes" are on a core thats broken.
-
Honestly ED can complete every module, add every feature in the book at this point. It won't matter becuase it will CONTINUE to go unplayed. The patch release notes are one big: "Look at this fix/feature we added that you cannot use!" I'm seriousy gonna flip my lid when the Super Carrier I instantly preordered gets released and I can't fly it. Literally. The main core of DCS Openbeta is broke. When will we make progress? Another month? 2? 3? We can dress a pig 3 ways to sunday and it is still going to be a pig. The sim is broke. Its been broke. Tomorrow it will be broke. The next day and the following. It needs a major overhaul. It needs that major overhual now. Out.
-
Thank you for not letting me feel alone out there, my my fellow Elder Sim Brother!
-
At this point maybe its time to redo the patch from 2.5 (the last time it worked) and chuck 2.6 in a fiery volcano!??? Nobody is going to care about any other fixes when the sim doesn't work. I kinda am kicking myself in the teeth for preordering the Super Carrier now. I had hopes of releasing some of the first videos of when it is released. Sigh...Pipe dreams. I really hope ED figures it out. I've been simming for a few decades... (cuz Im old!)...and I can't remember anything breaking a sim for this long.
