Video Corruption and Related Card Issues
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Tulkas's topic in Bugs and Problems
When taking off at the start of the 'Shooting Gallery' mission the town at the end of the runway flickers like mad, I will try some Nvidia driver settings to see if I can improve matters. Windows 7 64 bit running the 32bit exe. -

what outside of the game can affect fps
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to bigdog4215's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The worst cause of stutters ( not low frame rate) for me is the anti-virus checking each file on access. Either make sure it only checks EXE's (not every file), or turn it off if you feel brave. I found file indexing to be a good process to kill, and make sure your backup software does not kick in mid mission. (dont ask how I know!) Tom -
Hey, what are you doing?!
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Bestandskraft's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
As far as I understand it he is complaining that he still has his intercom plugged in when you start to move, I like to think that when you turn off ground channel you are also signaling him to unplug his headset. Tom -
Do we have a clue on requirements yet?
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Conure's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Taking this thread a little further, is DCS Warthog likely to be more demanding on the GPU than BS, I currently have a Nvidia 8800GT running on an i7 920 (@4GHz). I am tempted to upgrade, however I doubt I would see any benefit in BS. But I feel the 8800 is pushed to the limit . Cheers Tom -
I agree this is a small step backwards, the radio messages can be very difficult to read on multiplay servers where there is alot of chat going on. If anyone finds the appropriate LUA file to modify please enlighten me. Tom

Problem with BS since install of FC2
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Frogfoot1606687865's topic in DCS Modding
Ahh, False alarm. I tracked it down, I had installed the Servman Mod which is obviously not compatable with 1.02 Well I'll leave this here for others to find who fall into the same trap. Cheers Tom -
Hi, since installing FC2 I have noticed that my username in BS multiplayer is always blank when I start up, I can go in to 'config' and set it, however it always reverts to a blank field. (The connection speed dropdown list is also blank) If I look at the network.log file I see the following Having stepped through Main.lua, default.cfg and server.lua it seems the FC2 has overwritten some files. Was I in error to install FC2 to my Eagle Dynamics folder? I would rather not have to go through a reinstall as I have just got the game runing to my liking. Any ideas? Cheers Tom

when in the editor, place your A/C on an airport/FARP and select 'Player' then change 'Turning point' to 'Start on ramp' , that should do it.

Problems 'stepping on the ball'
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Frogfoot1606687865's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks for pointing me to that thread, it seems that because a certain amount of cyclic input is required (due to asymmetrical lift from rotors) the A/C is banked during forward flight the ball wil be affected by gravity, and therefore be offset. However this brings up the point that when in fast forward flight, left cyclic is required to eliminate side slip leading to a slight left bank, I would expect that if the ball was only being affected by gravity I would expect it to be offset to the left not the right. Cheers Tom -
Hi, when flying the KA50 I have noticed that the ball in the yaw indicator below the ADI (and backup ADI for that matter) always seems to be ofset to the right. If I add rudder, and adjust cyclic so that the ball is centered the Aircraft is obviously sideslipping. I have found the a much more accurate indication of sideslip is the Rocket aiming reticule. If I select rockets, and keep the aiming reticule centered the A/C will be perfectly aligned with the direction of flight. Has anyone noticed this, or am I doing something daft here. Tom

Sorry, my mistake, I just read the following passage in the manual
-
If I understand you correctly you are trying to change the order of WPs. I think what the manual is telling you is how to enter new co-ordinates. I don't think you can reorder the existing ones unless you first write down all the lat and long values for the existing WPs then follow the steps to enter them in the revised order. I think what you are doing is inadvertently deleting them. Tom

Main Hydro, Engine Virbration, Fire
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Logite's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Logite, if you edit the mission and change each of the 3 'client' Ka50's to 'player', then save the mission, then change them back to 'Client', then save the mission it seems to reset the failure modes to false. I just tried it an it seemed to work. Tom -

Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Logite's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hmm, interesting. It seems that you can't set failures on aircraft set to 'Client' only 'Player', has it always been like this? Also If I edit the mission and change the A/C from Client to Player, and then look at the failure modes they are unchecked. Something fishy here. Tom -

I just tried your mission, (at least start up and take off) with no problems. However I used manual start (not 'Win + Home' shortcut). It may be usefull if you were to post another track, but this time scan the guages/switch positions during start up rather than moshing :D ! Cheers Tom. -
Wingman engaging DL targets
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Frogfoot1606687865's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hmm, could be. I just tried the same setup again and the wingman behaved quite well. It seems to be intermittent. Cheers Tom -
Is it me of has the patch broken the ability of your wingman to engage DL targets. I just set up a simple mission and datalinked tagret positions to my wingman, and then used the Engage datalink target, Target/targets/target by type etc commands, and in each case the stupid fool simply overflew the target and reported that he was at the designated location. All in all not very helpfull. Tom

Patch 1.0.2 for "DCS: Black Shark"
Frogfoot1606687865 replied to Ulrich's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
so far looking really good, I like the wingman calling out targets as he spots them. But I really miss the nocloudshaddow mod, I forgot how distracting the flickering is. Lets hope Modman is updated soon. Tom -
