I've attached a screenshot of the Su-25T "axis commands" screen. If the options are different on your system, you may solve the problem by following these steps: - Delete the TrackIR settings file in the "C:\Users\<your-user-name>\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Input\su-25T\trackir" folder - Start the TrackIR software - Start DCS and go to Options\ Controls \ Su-25T \ Axis Commands and press OK to save the settings.

TIR needs to be mapped, for each flyable/module. If there are no mappings, you can restore the default mapping by selecting each item and pressing the "default" button at the bottom. Make sure to check all flyables.

It's working fine here on Windows 8 / TIR5 / DCSW 1.2.2, using TIR 5.2 software (beta 02 and final version both work) ... Did you confirm the mapping for TrackIR in the controls of each module? ("axis commands") Both LED's should be green when DCSW is active (left = tracking, right = game running). If both are orange then TIR is paused.

30 fps difference in between A-10C 1.0.0.8 and World 1.2.2

If I recall correctly, that version didn't have tree shadows or cockpit shadows yet, things that impact performance. To make the comparison of such old versions with DCSW fair, you have to use similar settings. -
Actually, the mentioned "fix" has nothing to do with the amount of physical memory, rather the address space.

Then we should compare CloD with DCS. I think something got lost in translation. Anyway, I own several Il-2 products and enjoyed them thoroughly, but I do prefer more detailed simulation, which DCS certainly is.

LO and FC are not DCS ...

.trk files, just as .miz files are technically ZIP files. You won't see any (noticeable) reduction in file size by compressing it again.

Ehm, was it AI or not? ... If it was AI --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97815

c0ff posted this information somewhere in the forums ...

FYI: the same issue applies when damage is incurred when aircraft are on the ground. There is visual damage, but no corresponding change in "behavior" of AI units. Looks like the "ground part" of the AI FM doesn't model damage. --> http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=79278

According to the logs he's using the x64 version of Windows (and DCS) so the 3GB switch is not relevant. -
'Error: Another updater instance is running' when trying to start DCSW

A GUID can be used as mutex name. GUID's are quite ... unique :D -

Yep, I saw that too. Locked files aren't deleted in all cases though (system crash, loss of power [as in ARM505's case] ...). What about enumerating processes and looking for other instances of DCS_updater.exe / DCS_update_apply.exe? -

Use LAlt + C to toggle mouse mode. Shouldn't cause any problem. See for yourself ;) As Sobek already mentioned, don't forget to check the P51 specific options (see screenshot).

Request x64 installation media from the vendor if the system was delivered without them ... Technically you can use any Windows DVD, and manually activate the OEM license (certificate) ... Getting off topic here though, isn't this a Linux thread? :D
-
You don't have to buy a new Windows license to reinstall the x64 version.

They can't afford a Windows license (Upgrade to Win8 Pro from XP or higher is available online for 30$ at the moment ...), but they can afford a powerful CPU, GPU, large amount of RAM, multiple high resolution screens, MFD's, TM Warthog Hotas, TrackIR ... required to properly enjoy DCS ...

MSFS had some good features, as you mentioned, but it also failed in essential things like flight models. The quality of MS' flyables, in terms of avionics, wasn't "as real as it gets" either. Offering a global terrain also meant they had to make it generic, which kind of defeated the point of having a global terrain. Same thing goes for DCS ...

has proven that it can be done: very detailed terrain, large terrain size, long view distance ... with acceptable performance. (demo available for download) The current Flanker2/Lockon/DCS terrain engine is outdated, a single aircraft model probably contains more polygons than the entire visible terrain mesh ... There's a reason why EDGE is being developed. We'll have to wait and see what it brings.
