Rotors don't turn at all? Set the LOW RPM AUDIO switch to off, it's directly left to the yellow fuel switch. You may want to switch it back on after the RPM has picked up so the annoying sound can alert you to an impending disaster :D

Not a mistake, during installation you get to choose your license type (upgrade or full, international or CIS). Hopefully this will solve the problem of people downloading the wrong file for their license.

Some 32-bit processes can get more user mode address space (up to 4GB) in x64 Windows if the related flag is set, without recompiling for x64, which may increase performance or stability.

I believe it was mentioned when someone posted a skin for the P-51D which included swastikas. Some other P-51D skins with swastikas were not removed from the download section though ...

Superb SU-25 cockpit in the making!

If you used Google Translate, it mistranslates "кабина" as "stall", instead of "cockpit". -
Can't program a sense of humor ...

If you get a regular DCS A-10C serial number after purchase then you can use the latest version of DCS World with the A-10C module.

There is a Windows setting (see attached image) which seems to be relevant for headsets (not regular headphones). This setting is available in Windows 7 & 8. Try setting it to "do nothing". The default is "Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%". Worth a try ... Applications like Teamspeak may also reduce the volume of other applications (Volume Control Plugin) ...

It wasn't removed, rather the required file may disappear after updating ... (cfr. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1600388&postcount=26)

The DCS installer is needlessly running the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package installer. The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package installer is not at fault, it merely indicates that a newer version is already installed. The DCS installer should perform the check. When you try to install SP2 for Windows XP on a Windows XP system that already has SP3 applied, shouldn't the installer warn the user or should it just quietly close itself without any explanation to the user? Why would Microsoft (or anyone) update the installers of all previously released versions? Even if they did, the original version of the installer would still be included in the installation of third party software such as DCS.

Looks like MSFS.

Release, don't tease :P

Remove (9) from the .exe file name.

Or start DCS with no joysticks connected.

Are there any log files in C:\Users\your-user-name\Saved Games\DCS\Logs ? Can you post the details that go with this crash window? The license key is not asked during installation. When launching a mission, the Starforce ("protect") window should be displayed and you have to enter the license key. I haven't yet found anything related to the error message that you receive when running dcs_protect.exe. A newer version is already installed. During DCS installation you can skip installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable package by deselecting it. This should prevent the error. (see image below) I do wonder why it mentions the x86 (32-bit) version, instead of the x64 version. Make sure the x64 version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 is listed in "Programs and Features".
-
It shouldn't be a problem, it's already installed. You should be able to see it in "Programs and Features". It's not necessary to install the Visual C++ 2012 redistributable package because DCS uses 2010 at this moment.

I did some tests to see if the error would be caused by Daemon Tools, which are installed on Drastic55's system, but I didn't get any error. No further ideas here :| Time to create a ticket with ED.

Did you reboot your computer after uninstalling BD? Either way, can you run the error report again from the Starforce error window? If you compress the error report it may be small enough to post here (or on some file share website). It could contain useful information.

xaoslaad, no problem. We all try to help. I didn't recognize the error message, but you correctly identified it in your first reply. I only got it when I saw that screenshot. Let's hope the problem is solved eventually!

xaoslaad, please read post #22

After reviewing the list of active services, the most likely culprit seems to be BitDefender. I found a thread where someone states he was unable to use a debugger while BitDefender was installed, as if BitDefender had installed itself as debugger. Only uninstalling seemed to help. --> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vsdebug/thread/1c3117d6-e0f5-4cf7-a795-3a82f08230e5/ According to another thread, the "active debugger" issue is solved by disabling real-time protection in BitDefender. --> http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-IN/vsdebug/thread/1c4d049e-7dc9-472c-a289-d2c1c6474a23 and Another thread: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=37028

I wish you had posted that earlier ;) It is in fact an error dialog from the Starforce protection. I'll try to find a solution.

- Just to be clear, does the error occur when trying to install DCS or when trying to run DCS (after successfully installing)? - If the installation succeeded, did you select to install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010"? (see image below) Regarding the error message, do you you see a screen similar to the one below? If so, can you post the error details here? (I believe you can copy/paste the text from the window)
