TrackIR or rudder peddals?
192nd_Erdem replied to LastRifleRound's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Why waste money on it? Freetrack does the same thing for free :) -
He'd say worse things than HAWX :P

Damage model (Hit Points) for vehicles
192nd_Erdem replied to Jazz_44's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Ah I didn't know about those, perhaps the devs should give out more info about the features of the simulation. -
Damage model (Hit Points) for vehicles
192nd_Erdem replied to Jazz_44's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
IL-2? IL-2 has gun calibres vs armor modelled, so that you can't kill a Tank with .50 cal by "substracting hitpoints", they just bounce off. Other parts are identical to BS. ArmA?(since you compared to SB) ArmA has track/turret/engine damages + gun calibres modelled. For Falcon 4, I'm sure BS is a step ahead. I don't want to sound like bashing BS, but this is definitely one area to work on for devs. -
Damage model (Hit Points) for vehicles

Uhm how so? Vehicles has hitpoints and weapons subtract from that damage . . . and is that detailed? -
I use Win7 beta too, and sometimes I have the exact problem. A search in ED forums revealed that there's a slight incompatibility with Win 7(as said by an ED dev). BTW there are some users experiencing the problem in Vista too, so it's not a Win7 isolated problem. Sometimes a restart solves the problem for me, sometimes opening-closing the game does the trick too. Sometimes everything works just fine. BUT the ultimate solution is to use DCSMax, and launch the mission from there. You won't get any errors. Bad thing is you can't play campaigns this way, but campaigns are not Vista compatible and you'll keep getting errors anyway.

I'd add +2 years for that engine, considering "Eagly Dynamics time" :P

I have yet to see a "Keyboard key sensitivity" option in BS, nor have heard about it. Keyboard collective probably increase with %5-10 increments, so you're trying to get that eg %73 sweetpot but always fall short I'm afraid. Getting a joystick is the only way I see for a solution :o

What you get is totally normal and realistic. When you trim in real Ka-50, the stick stays where you trimmed. Lots of people want to get that effect and you don't want it, now that's irony :D
-
LOL I'd keep making versions of BS if I was ED. Add some special edition with a Ka-50 documentary, and another collector's with a Ka-50 dogtag/patch. People will just keep buying them, sounds very profitable :D

Looks better than LO's one to me ;)

ArmA 2, obviously. From what Codemasters shown us in the past months, I can say that they're clearly not making a contender for ArmA 2, but rather a semi-realistic game aimed to please BF2 folks(also Project-Reality players). ArmA 2 on the other hand, is a direct sequel to OFP genre. Yes I find the first ArmA to be soulless, bug ridden for a long time, with clunky controls, capable but still inadequate AI . . . and the list goes on. But BIS is aware of these problems. The problem with ArmA was, it was a forced "interim" game. More like a tech-demo. They needed money to fund themselves, and they were forced to release ArmA at a relatively early stage. They improved the game with updates as they continued to work on the engine and ArmA 2. I recall reading BIS lead Ivan Buchta stating that they had no "passion" for ArmA because basically they had no time and needed to release it ASAP. He said it's not the same for ArmA 2, they're taking their time and this time they actually want to do it. So I have higher hopes for ArmA2. BIS is really going to improve the genre this time, while Codemasters will take a "safe step" and release a semi-realistic game which will mainly appeal to masses. ArmA 2 is also playing safe with it's campaign, but it'll still be the sandbox game that ArmA has been, totally scalable.

Registry on "DCS Black Shark" 8-10 times
192nd_Erdem replied to Ekzit's topic in Payment and Activation
Then you hope Eagle Dynamics will give you 10 more, which they don't have to according to their policy. -
3000$ just for BS, oh wow. That's why the sims are declining I guess, all those expensive gadgets lying around that you should get, just to experience the sim in it's all glory . . . Well, some people are better off with a 199$ Xbox and a 60$ copy of HAWX, that's no brainer :D

You really shouldn't even touch AA and AF with that card. Also what kind of a resolution is 1280x1080? I hope you aren't using full HD with that rig :D

Russian dominance in flight sim development
192nd_Erdem replied to Lav69's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Well if there's no demand, then there is no product. Then we can assume there are demands for high-fidelity simulations in Russia and CIS, so that developers like Maddox and ED are interested in this market. Thus, majority of the aircraft are Russian. It wouldn't be very logical to try to sell American plane sims in a Russian market :) -
So how's the world in black shark?
192nd_Erdem replied to Ernohauki's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
QFT, "the room for improvement" is the best part of this sim. It's promising. -
DVD version makes sense only for ED at the moment in my opinion. Having a retail version at the stores greatly increases your customers who didn't know the game before. It also makes sense for collection purposes :) It feels good to have a "Black Shark" case in your shelve, although it has no advantages over download version.

Multiplayer is mostly "Deathmatch" even though there's no such mode though. 8v8 Ka-50's the best experience ever . . . :noexpression:
-
Search, no.
-
Colour manual, less than double the cost. For only collection purposes. It must be possible because of the huge quantities ED will order.
-
It'll probably blow BS away. Must have costed an arm and a leg.

Russian cockpit images used in English printed manual
192nd_Erdem replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Also, not to mention the huge amount of work needed to get ALL those pictures in English again. There's just no possibility. -
Printed Black Shark Manual Purchase, Europe
192nd_Erdem replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Why not have two versions with B&W and color? I'd like to have a manual for collection purposes, but B&W really puts me off . . . I'm sure ED can negotiate a plausible color manual because they're buying high quantities.
