What's with the "Convince me plz, my ego is soo big" attitude in the forums recently? Do some Google for review/previews and videos, read through forums and DCS website and decide for yourself.

Go Windows 7 Beta while still you can. Much better than Vista and so far more stable for me.

multi monitor picture request !
192nd_Erdem replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Has anyone tried PSP as a second monitor? There is a homebrew program called "PSPDisp" that gives the PSP the ability to be used as a second monitor. I want to try it for Black Shark. With the program PSP can be used from resolutions from 480x272 to 1920x1080. Seems perfect to me. I don't want to shell out A LOT for a second display TBH :) -
Hasta la vista, baby! I never liked FS, but a sad day indeed.

. . . and there are some scripts that make AI smack you in the face, then come apologise and make coffee for you. I suggest you visiting ArmA scripting forums a little ;) Anyways, I hope we'll hear about Mumble integration soon. There are a lot of possibilites with talented programmers at both ED and Mumble developers :)

I hope they can match the 12 years old MSFFB2 performance this time.

I got out and bought it today. I think it's amazing. Button layout is spot on, and build quality is much better than my old X-52. It's quite responsive too, as much as my FFB2. THe best thing is it's ergonomy totally customisable and you can detach the base from the stick to put it in you bag while you're travelling. I don't have Black Shark yet but I know it'll perform good with it :)

It's the newest Saitek joystick, out on December. Has anybody tried it yet? I'm thinking about getting one as it's quite cheap and has two throttles on the side. http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/cyx.htm

Actually a PS3 could have a good chance of running Black Shark without problems. It's 8 core Cell processor is actually *designed* to handle complex mathematical calculations and clusters of PS3's are already being used as supercomputers. Xbox 360's Power PC processors on the other hand, are suited better for classical gaming without intense calculations. Also, the best advantage of consoles is that they're only in one hardware configuration. This means developers can optimise their software to the limits of programming because they can take advantage of a common design. I personally hope that some day in the future it will be possible to play serious simulations like DCS series on 8th generation or later consoles(means PS4, Xbox 720 or better). Currently it does cost a lot to upgrade computer hardware to keep up with increasing system specifications. One can only dream about plugging his keyboard, joystick and TrackIR in and enjoying the simulation without draconian software protection or hardware/software problems. Plus, developing for a console is a lot less costly than for PC. I do believe currently BS can run 1080p on both consoles at maximum settings without problems and keyboard/joystick/TrackIR/Touchbuddy support(considering they the time to take advantage of console designs). Though it's highly unlikely that this will happen. ED is even struggling to be known in the simulation world, yet there's a whole PC market to be "conquered". But I believe with proper marketing and their "proof of work" Eagle Dynamics will come to mind when someone mentions the word "simulation" in 3-4 years(that makes 5 more modules :) ). There's no Sim market for consoles(excluding racing) either. It just simply does not wort the struggle right now. But for the future, who knows? I'd personally prefer to play DCS2 on my PS4 without worrying about my PC hardware on my couch :)

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=69a_1232404364 I think they might have survived. I expected Mi-24 to disintegrate.

Opposite - It was developed exactly for being a Tank Killer with it's definitive weapon Vikhr. Political and economical problems forced it to become active in small numbers and take part in anti-terror operations.

DCS: A-10C: Satellite guided JDAM's?
192nd_Erdem replied to Chibawang's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You mean there will be advanced vehicle damage modelling? That's what I've been waiting for :) -
So that makes it even better than reality I suppose. Yay.

Ok I'm gonna go the hard way here. So it happens that you invidiually took everyone's opinion in BS community here? Define "many" please. Steam uses only 7mb RAM and %0 CPU on my laptop. How come it is bloatware? This includes Friends(awesome messenger by the way), main Steam Kernel and Steam Community (awesome also) loaded. I see your picture proof attempt and raise it with mine. Is it so hard to check settings when you're seriously thinking about being a Steam customer? You do not want advertisement or update news? Fine, disable them(bottom). You don't want store to open when you load Steam? Fine, set your main window to "Games" so it will come up when you fire up Steam. You'll never see it again. You want your games on a particular drive? Install Steam on that drive. I'm sure you're patient enough browse up 2-3 directories more in Windows Explorer(since you're a simmer, right?). What else virtual accusations do you have? You double click on the game icon and you play your game as Gavek said. What is intrusive about that? Starforce drivers being forcably installed on your PC? No, but oh wait, most of the ED community already did that gracefully a while ago without questioning . . . "Tolerate" and "desire" being the key hatred words. It's as tolerable and intrusive as your favourite messenger software. Also it's a all-in-one pack of everything you need about the game you bought. If you don't want to use those features, it's your call. If you still don't like Steam(you may though, if you actually start using it), you can just stay with your BS version peacefully. But IMO don't come here bad mouthing about it. There are really people hoping for a Steam release because they prefer it, and you're not helping at all. Also, moderators please move this thread back to General Discussion as this thread directly concerns both Digital Combat Simulator series and Black Shark. Not "Chit Chat".

I'm strongly backing up the Steam version. Some of you may not like Steam for some strange reasons (eg: read thinkr's post), but it doesn't change that Steam is a viable option used by 15 million people and has it's advantages. First thing I'm excited about is about that 15 million people. Now, I'm sure many of you somewhat figured it out that DCS is like a "A new hope" in the simulation world. It's like the "first step" into the next-gen simulation with it's modules and ongoing engine development. Too bad very few people know about it. Now best way to do this is not mouth to mouth advertising or having a tiny little website that says "Hey, we're here and we're doing great work! Notice us please?". ED can't afford to do huge advertising campaigns and this is where Steam comes in, 15 million potential users and the ability to make your advertising easily. You make an update, all the people gets warned and maybe persuaded to learn about it. IMO this alone makes it a huge chance for ED. Also, I'm a Steam user for more than 3 years and have about 15 games on it and never had an issue(well, only once when Steam servers were down in 2006 because of a Hurricane), thank god I can remember my passwords and my email, it's been getting new features lately and they're pretty cool. I'd love to have a BS Steam version. So would many people who're not in the "I hate Steam but don't ask me why. No wait, IT SMELLS!" bandwagon. Steam was problematic back in HL2 release but those days are long gone.

Do both? Overclocking doesn't cost anything the last time I checked.
-
. . . because they really took their time for BS. Long way to make it stable from 2005 to end of 2008.
-
Since the thread has officialy changed course :D I think modelling F-16 is extremely sensible for ED. If ED can pull it off correctly, most of the Falcon community will instantly transfer to DCS, since they're looking for something new after 10 years of the same thing.
-
Looks like F-15's father to me :D Beatiful bird.
-
Quarrion, why don't you get into contact with ED and offer them to support FreeTrack along with TrackIR? I mean using FT interface along with TrackIR one.
-
Headtracker interface cancelled???
192nd_Erdem replied to the_soupdragon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Well, that's just sad. Though in my opinion this will just lead way to illegal modification of protected files no matter what. In the end people who want to use FreeTrack will use it probably. -
*NEW MOVIE* DCS: Black Shark Overview
192nd_Erdem replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Upload this on Gametrailers.com as official trailer NOW! Make some publicity ED! GJ AMRAAM. -
Thanks! I'll be getting one for sure, now I just need to prepare my T7100 and 8400M GS laptop for this little beast. I hope ED can have it ready at christmas.

I see that you have Saitek Cyborg Evo, can you handle the helicopter just by this stick? Or do you use rudders as well? I'm away from my home for about one year and I'm thinking of getting a Cyborg Evo for my lappy . . . Sorry for OT(well, kind of :D )

It uses LOMAC engine, I can't see why you can't make sound mods. File structure and mod support should be same/better.
