What kind of aircraft was it up against? These kind of figures can be easily manipulated by choosing inferior aircraft, just to make the numbers look good. For example, I can imagine it would do better against a T-38 or an A-4 than an F-15 or F-18. With this I don't want to say the F-22 isn't a good aircraft, but I've seen too much of this kind of figures to believe them right away.

Some more Leeuwarden Air Show shots
Joe Kurr replied to Joe Kurr's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Yup :) But they appear closer than they really are. Same formation, different angle: -
These are from the Saturday show, still working on the pics from Thursday and Friday. Enjoy :) Belgian F-16AM Solo Display: British C-130J Hercules: Dutch F-16AM pulling up during the base-attack: Dutch F-16AM Solo Display: Dutch F-16AM Solo Display: Patrouille Suisse (4x F-5E Tiger II): US Air Force F-15E Solo Display: Blue Angels (2x F/A-18A): Blue Angels (F/A-18A):

SFS talon + split throttle for f-15 setup
Joe Kurr replied to G3's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Why would you want to do that? I'm using the setup ggg mentioned for about four of five years now without any problems. The only thing you should think about is that a standard gameport only supports four axes. So in order to use the set to the full, I plugged my pedals in a USB port. Now I can use all seven axes. No need to mod anything :) -
I've seen several displays with both MiG-29 and Flankers (27 / 37 / 30 / etc) performing a "hook", i.e. a horizontal Kobra. Although this manouver is much easier in aircraft utilizing TVC, it is also perfectly possible in conventional aircraft.

!!!>> Lock-On WebRing is online <<!!!
Joe Kurr replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Great Idea! I've added my website (dutch-flankers.net) to the ring, but the webring logo doesn't work yet (need to re-design the home page for that) So for the moment I stuck with the link in the <noscript> section. Will update the site when I find the time (hopefully this week-end). -
Definately Russian, it's the solo aircraft from Team RUS.

Then taking off should be bad for the engines also... ;) Here is the video I made of the Fouga Magister flyby at Kleine Brogel in 2003: CM-170 low-level flyby at Kleine Brogel 2003 Note, this is not a take-off run, it had already done that, and was now doing a last flyby before returning to its home base at Beauvechain. It's climbing slightly when it passes by, because there was a fence and some low trees and stuff past the end of the runway. Here is another video, showing the same aircraft taking off at RAF Fairford earlier that year. You can hear the pilot explain what he is doing. CM-170 take-off at Fairford 2003 The quality isn't great, but I made these with my old digital photo camera.

Anyone ever seen the Belgian Fouga Magister at an airshow? Although this is a take-off run, I also made a small video clip of it at the 2004 spotters day at Kleine Brogel airbase in Belgium. I will post that when I get home, that flyby was about as low as the Su-30 in the opening post of this thread (and lower than it is on the picture above).

Well, still can't register, no reply on my earlier post (over 10 days ago), guess I'm not welcome there...
-
Strange... When I try to register, it tells me someone already signed up using my e-mail address...

Can't find the Russian version there either. Maybe they put it there by mistake and removed it?

Just got back from Moscow, 7 days are way too short. Here's a quick impression of MAKS, I will post more when I have all pictures sorted. Russian Knights Su-27 throwing flares: MiG-29M-OVT: Su-30MKI: L-39 Albatros 'Team RUS': Kamov Ka-52: MiG-29M2: Mixed Formation with 5x Su-27 (Russian Knights) and 4x MiG-29 (Strizhi):

Yes, I'm taking my phone with me. Please contact me via icq or msn to exchange numbers.

I'm going there too. Leaving next tuesday (16th), and staying at Izmailovo. I will visit the show on the 20th and 21st.

Not entirely true. The Indian airforce has demonstrated that even the Su-30K, without the canards and TVC, can do this. Maybe it's also possible in the 27 :) So, aircraft that have demonstrated they can do the Kulbit currently are: Su-37, Su-30MK, Su-30MKI and Su-30K. I don't know for sure, but I think the MiG-29M-OVT can also do it.

I only tried if the ramdisk software worked on my laptop, because I was at work, and my game-PC is at home :) I have tried to make a ramdisk big enough for the effects folder, but haven't succeeded so far. For some reason I can't get it bigger than 32MB, while the effects folder is about 56MB. It's a bit strange though because I choose the biggest possible option, 65536000, which should be 64MB. I'll look into this further when I can, because it might be a big improvement on machines with lots of RAM.
-
Great idea! I downloaded a free ramdisk utility from CodeGuru. Installed it on my laptop, and it works. Will try it with Lockon this evening. The utility, together with documentation, can be found here: http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/W-P/system/devicedriverdevelopment/article.php/c5789/ It works with Windows 2000 and XP.

Su-27 only has full flaps or no flaps. Half flaps works on the Su-33 though.

Movie Pack is bigger than the movies?!
Joe Kurr replied to oxking's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
There are two more movies in the Su-25T campaign folder -
Noob question..what is Suncom?
Joe Kurr replied to Omega Oska's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Both the F-15E Talon and the SFS Throttle work perfectly with Windows XP. Just create a custom 4-button 4-axis stick, and you're off. Due to the rather cheap potentio meters Suncom has used in these devices, you'll probably need to calibrate them three or four times to get it right, but I'm not planning to buy any other HOTAS until my Suncom combo falls apart. -
I chose both the Su-27 and the Su-25T. The Su-27 because it is my favorite aircraft of all time. The Su-25T because of its excellent flight model in FC.

How do you play the game in terms of control?
Joe Kurr replied to Pilotasso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have been using a HOTAS ever since I had Flanker 2.0, and I can't fly without it. My set: - Suncom SFS Throttle - Suncom F-15E Talon - CH Pro Pedals - TrackIR Vector The TrackIR is really a must, it makes flying sims feel so much more natural. -
Using the info Dmut provided, I have created two small batch files to backup and restore the Lockon 1.1 registry keys. You can find them on http://www.dutch-flankers.net in the downloads section. Look for "lockon-registry.zip" I haven't tested it yet, because I am still waiting for the memory replacement for my PC.
