  1. It also allows for a lot more variation in how you want your assets deployed. It is much easier to counter enemy advances with jets, and air cav now has rapid access to air support.
  2. In other words, why are you fighting in an F-15C at sea level?
  3. As a result of another bug where certain landings would result in SFM aircraft essentially being glued to the ground, I was able to drive my Eagle out on the water where I saw this. As you can see, the reflections miss some of the aircraft depending on the level of zoom (from far out, it looks okay, but close in and sections of the aircraft start to disappear in the reflection). Edit: Apparently this isn't limited to aircraft being where they shouldn't. This is happening with ships as well.
  4. Flying IRL, and you know, trying to get better at FC3.
  5. Those "bothersome flies" have teeth too..
  6. RIP, and thank you for creating this community that we cherish.
  7. Now they just need a gun that simulates recoil and can be reloaded. Man, oh man, that would be fun.
  8. Yes, those will work fine. Though personally I would suggest getting an EVGA card. They are built sturdy, and have the absolute best support staff in the industry. Just in case something DOES go wrong. As others have said though, you are looking for something that is $500. If you go any higher, chances are that this is because the card is factory overclocked. You do not need to overclock this card. It is a beast as is.
  9. A-10C definitely has the advantage when it comes to defensive maneuvers. The cannon is also a ton more capable. The airplane also does not see a reduction in platform stability because of PAC, and the airplane can also attack from further away. Although the real kicker is that it is capable of employing a much, much wider range of munitions from a more desirable location, with more lethality. The helicopter is not.
  10. Well considering that ED is currently in the process of making not one, not two, but three fighters right now, I don't see why there is any reason to be worried. (F-15C, F/A-18C, and Su-27SM)
  11. I take it that they are doing all of their coding off of a liliput and a Raspberry Pi then?
  12. Misconception, the Tornado is Swing-Role, not multi-role. i.e. it can either fill Air to Air, or air to ground, but is not proficient at both at the same time. i.e. Tornado GR.4 (IDS), or F.3 (ADV). This is of course, in contrast to aircraft like the F-16C or Rafale-M, which are designed to be able to execute both air to air and air to ground missions without major modification, or even during the same sortie if the mission requires it. However, that does not mean that the Tornado would not be a perfect fit. For one thing, a Tornado IDS would come in handy for SEAD missions that we so desperately need in DCS right now.
  13. Monotwix? Is that you? Why have you hacked leafer's account?
  14. Made my morning, thanks!
  15. Generally the problem you are having comes down to your lack of SA. You do not know where you are in relation to other forces, both friendly and enemy. You have not paid enough attention to the briefs, or the briefs did not exist, and are now paying for it. Half the problem though, is that people don't communicate online, or follow even remotely the same procedures. What you get is people who have nothing but the slightest idea of what they are doing or why, and are messing up the airspace. To further compound the issue, because of lack of communication, nobody has any idea where or what OTHER people are doing, which leads to situations such as inadvertent foxes on friendlies. To put it bluntly, you need to find yourself a squadron to fly with. Trust me, 75% of these problems you are having will be all but instantaneously eradicated.
  16. Just saying, every time I log on to check the forums, I scroll down and see "Its Here!!!!" under the Belsimtek page. I then proceed to get REALLY, REALLY, excited. I then, in a slight panic, scroll up to the top of the page to see if I have missed anything in the announcements. Upon not seeing anything there however, I get disappointed and proceed to check in here to see if anyone posted anything useful inside of this thread. Which usually, is a resounding no. Welcome to the start of my break every day.
  17. Not to mention that most countries don't have much use for a long range air superiority fighter like the F-15C or Su-27. Most want the versatility of a short range front line fighter that can perform multiple roles to respond to a variety of situations effectively and relatively cheaply. This is primarily why the F-16 and MiG-29 are such popular takes with smaller countries, whereas you see larger countries like the U.S., Russia, China, etc. Operating more specialized aircraft in larger quantities.
  18. The "CICU Input Error" message appears in your scratchpad whenever you attempt to input a value that is different from the expected value. Like say I am inputting a position into my flight plan, and input "kpndafuebfu" for a lat/long coordinate.
  19. This build looks pretty decent for a mid-high end computer. I'd stick with what you've got, maybe changing out the 660 for a 670, just in case you feel you need more graphics performance for other stuff. If your only goal is DCS though, you should be A-okay with that build.
  20. Student, getting my degree in aviation, currently also a pilot and IT helpdesk worker.
  21. There is, in the performance processor market (i.e. the one you are in), Intel actually has more performance per dollar spent then AMD processors. Going with AMD, even if on a budget, is a bad decision. What you are buying is essentially three generations behind the current top of the line. What you end up seeing is performance that rivals only Intel's cheapity cheap cheap line of Ivy bridges, sometimes, even failing to surpass that. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/fx-4170-core-i3-3220-benchmarks,3314-7.html It isn't a terrible processor for general applications, but for DCS, trust me, you will appreciate what a higher end processor will give you. Even if you have to spend another $100 to get there. Edit: Something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116782 will get you a LONG way in this game.
  22. The P-51D is basically only effective with its .50's against lightly armored vehicles up until about the BMP-2 class. Past that, the HVAR 5" rockets will take down most light armor (think things in the SPG/BMP-3 class). The bombs are really only effective against more heavily armored vehicles given a DIRECT hit. Otherwise, I wouldn't count your chickens.
  23. I submitted a support ticket last week, because when I had tried to activate BS 1 for the BS2 upgrade, it was reading 0 activations. Can somebody help me with this issue? Ticket #20721 Cheers, Pyroflash
