Newbie Looking for Some Advice
Pyroflash replied to tankerkevo's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
TIR, TM wathog, ch pedals. if you can't afford the hog, a saitek x52 pro or ch stick/pedals is good enough. though trust me when I say that the hog is worth the $500. Also a good cushion will be worth your while. some missions can run in excess of six hours, especially with air refueling, and a sore tooshie is not a good thing to have. -
This is only a problem with the dev kit. It has a bunch of problems, this being one of them. The final version is slated to have a much higher resolution.

I'll take my chances with the Sopwith Camel. :D

It doesn't have to be modern either though. Imagine having a DCS Iowa mod. 1945.

While I admire your effort in resurrecting the dead, unfortunately the Universal Code of Conduct, UCC §291 63.2583 has banned all acts of necromancy. Under this code, all attempts in this regard are punishable by a minimum of four posts, which may contain, but are not limited to, trolling, witty humor, dry humor, angry speeches, and references of old memes. Thank you for your understanding and compliance with the legislative process.

Even sourced articles can have bias if the writer doesn't use the correct sources, or deviates from the information provided by those sources. This happens frequently, and more often than not by certain "well respected" "defense analysts". Also, the reason that the Australian contract is getting so much flak is because of the disparity between what the government wants and what the citizens think the government needs. I.e. great number of Australian people think that the F-35 is a waste of money, but the government still wants to go ahead with the procurement plan for them.

AFAIK the A-10C uses both the Sniper and Litening, however the F-15E and B-1B exclusively use the Sniper. I think the same goes for the F-16C, however I am unsure of this. I know the reverse is true for the Navy planes. They almost exclusively rock the Litenings. Remember that ED developed the USAF A-10C DTS. The KY-58 secure voice radio that you are thinking of is one of the things that had to be cut from the civilian (re. our product) project. I don't think the currently flying suite 7 aircraft even have this though. Instead they have a nifty integrated digital radio stack. Keep in mind that even some stuff about our current Litening II TGP is wrong. You wouldn't know it though, unless you've actually used one in real life, or had access to documents telling you otherwise. Similarly, compromises would likely have to be made with the Sniper. However it is not unfathomable that a semi-realistic version of it, based off of real life attributes and specifications could make it into the game.

The current map isn't actually all that big. I've done longer cross countries within some states than exist between airports in DCS. Without knowing exactly how large the Nevada map is, I would guess that it includes all of Nevada, plus some of California, Arizona, and Utah. It might also contain some of Oregon and Idaho as well, but I wouldn't put any of my own money on that. At any rate, even the flight between two airports, (Las Vegas and Denio Junction vs. Batumi and Krasnodar) is virtually 75% longer within the confines of Nevada vs. that of the currently depicted Black Sea area. I would not, however, recommend landing any military aircraft at Denio Junction. Except the MiG-29C. Perhaps it could do it. The runway is made of dirt there. A little over 4,000' of dirt. Maybe the A-10C could have fun moving mud when it rains.

Superb SU-25 cockpit in the making!
Pyroflash replied to tflash's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I feel like a lot of complaining was done to get us here. I also feel like work has all but halted on new external 3d models to do these new cockpits. If the development cycle has shortened down from a year to two months, something must have changed. I am however, unsure of whether or not this is a good or bad thing. One thing I can say, though, is that the new pit looks absolutely fantastic. :) -
Not necessarily. We MAY be getting an F-86 from ED, however it is equally as likely that we are getting an F-86 from somebody else (i.e. 3rd party). The video announcing it wasn't specific as to who exactly is making it, just that it is in production by someone. There may be other 3rd parties out there who haven't revealed themselves to the world yet, so it might be one of those.

If I wanted an FC3 level helicopter, I would buy an FC3 level helicopter. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with an FC3 level helicopter, and you are welcome to fly one if such a product ever comes out. However, this is not being advertised as such, and I expect nothing less than full fidelity from a DCS level product. That means I expect to find all the little quirks, detractors, and limits right where they would be in the real world version. If that means that under certain real life circumstances, the main rotor happens to fall off, then so be it. I expect this to be modeled in-game as well. IMO, these are things that will not only separate this module from the rest, but put it ahead of the pack in terms of fidelity. After all, you don't see many people complaining that under certain circumstances, the Ka-50 will chop its own rotors in half. Instead, people see this as a challenge to overcome, and a limitation to keep in mind while flying it.

Setting the afterburner threshold
Pyroflash replied to Crescendo's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
That gauge does not show percentages. It shows the power setting. 100 simply means 100,000 RPM's. The F-15C's F-100-PW-220's can be uprated past the engine trim setting used in this game. However usually this is not done AFAIK to prolong the life of the engine and to prevent issues with its continued operation. This isn't something that can be done from the cockpit anyways though, so for the purposes here it doesn't really matter. -
Yeah, that's exactly what we want. If it was part of the design, it should be in the sim. It doesn't matter if it detracts from the aircraft. More importantly, it adds an added challenge to flying the airplane.
-
I know how much people are wanting the F/A-18C, but I think that the F-15C is a better candidate since they have been working on it for so long, and already have a lot of the stuff done for it in the models and data collection side of the fence. Of course, on the other hand, they could have just as much stuff completed for the F/A-18C, but have simply not released any info about it.

EVERYONE has problems flying planes in dark clouds. A T-50 is not going to survive in a CB. Also 6-9 years that you know of. It is entirely possibly and even likely that the Russians have been developing this aircraft for MUCH, MUCH longer than you know.
-
Hmm, I don't know if this has been considered yet, but I see that in the video you are using what appears to be projectile weapons. Are the impacts/damage of these weapons dependent on the force imparted by them? i.e. if a ship is going at .3 c and shoots a bullet, will it be able to kill a ship outright (assuming that the target is at rest)? Also are missiles being considered as a way to deal with newtonian space combat at longer ranges? I don't want to turn this into a gameplay discussion thread, but I really would like to know just how much the whole newtonian physics thing is going to impact gameplay.

Pledged up, need more people!
-
Try firing one at around 14 miles. 20 miles wasn't a greatly effective range even in 1.2.1. Also consider that you might want to try waiting until one missile goes pitbull or the TTI runs out before you start rippling off more. Also a lot of tuning is being done, and R-77/AIM-120C's are pretty bad in the current iteration.
-
Looks awesome. Good job!
-
How about just wait for another aircraft. Plus, adding an afterburner to the A-10C is not really a super simple task (at least to my knowledge).
-
We of this community have gone months without DCS updates. You must learn patience, young padawan learner.
-
Despicable, however it IS the internet. The best course of action I would think would be to report this kind of stuff to ED staff and then otherwise ignore it. Otherwise you run the risk of fanning it further.
-
Yes, there is one Super Tucano owned by Tac Air of Sierra Nevada Corp. It is currently used to support special forces in CAS training operations.
-
That is supposed to happen? Please elaborate, I would like to know more.
