Mav's are incredibly easy to dodge due to their inability to maneuver. Most of their ability comes from people's lack of ability to dodge missiles in general, and over-reliance on CM's, which are ineffective against Mavs. I do agree however, that they need to be implemented in a more realistic fashion. I cringe every time I see a missile launch coming from an A-10C flying straight and level at 25,000'.

For now you just have to BFM your way onto the runway.

Well I've turned it off now, thanks much

Sounds like someone with waaay too much time on his hands.

Is that what radio assists did? I always assumed that it did something different, like allowed my wingmen to be useful or something. So that explains why I don't get that annoying voice in multiplayer missions..

Absolute cold, get it, huh?, huh? :helpsmilie:

Truest words that I have heard all day. Don't pay any attention to fools like that. More importantly, we are all eagerly awaiting your next video!:pilotfly:

the lowest applications to run the DCS World?
Pyroflash replied to orim553's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I would recommend a system with at least a Core I7, AMD HD 58xx/Nvidia 4xx series, Windows 7 64-bit, At least 6GB RAM, At least 20GB of space available for initial installation + future modules (which typically run between 0.5-1 GB apiece in addition to the base DCS World.), Direct X 9.0C compatible sound, Internet (required), Saitek X52 or equivalent HOTAS (at a minimum), and a Track IR. These are current minimum requirements that will result in a fairly good looking and playable experience that will meet you with decent accessibility as well. However they are not the absolute minimum requirements to run the game, which as described above by Falcon. -
I'm just happy that the annoying "shoot, shoot" sound has been removed \o/ P.S. Now I've jinxed it. Please don't put that back in there.

Do you feel the need? 'Cuz I feel the need, the.. Oh forget it :P

FC3 cockpits are, as far as interactivity goes, staying at the same level as FC2. That is, non clickable cockpits with limited functionality.

Hmm?

Welcome to my world. Though at least if I can keep regularly passing this, it gives me a good indication on where I stand at being able to pass it at MEPS ~next year~. Since my doctor, who is also a flight surgeon for the USAF, does his 1st class exams under the same standards as the Air Force.
-
Because I am forced to (a.k.a. my school requires it to be enrolled in their classes). Thankfully they also pay the doctor for me, so it isn't that much of an issue..
-
probably because the ED team themselves are not sure of which "new features" will actually make the final cut.

Good experiences with Intel 520 series SSD's in RAID.

Really? I didn't know that. Are taller people at a higher risk of getting sick or something? I know that there are a few issues related to blood circulation, but outside of that.. Edit: Cripes, this reminds me. I need to go visit the doc again to renew my Medical.. Good thing that the 3rd classes are good for 5 years :) (Though that doesn't help much with a commercial license).

I for one would welcome an F-15C Golden Eagle Vs. an Su-35BM. I think it would be an interesting fight.
-
Yeah, this would be an awesome feature. Little things like what the VEAO are doing with cockpit fogging really affect how you employ your aircraft. Especially when you can't see outside because your heater failed. Wet/snowy runways would be awesome. I for one, find the most fun landings to be on thin sheets of snow. You have to be really careful with the brakes, but the landings are so soft, its amazing. Ice on the other hand, has led to some miserable experiences (especially when airports get closed because of it. Not that I would rather land at an airport that was closed because of the ice.).

Yeah, that sucks. I'm 6'3" right now, but I'm in my twenties, so I hope that I don't grow any more.. If my eyes go bad, I can always fix them by throwing money at the problem. If I get too tall, well, not much I can do for that..

Here's to hoping that a DCS Su-27S is in short order!
-
Not really, SLI only gives you a ~15-30% performance increase over a single card. Not only that, but in some cases (i.e. DCS) it actually decreases performance over a single card, with extremes leading into games simply not working with SLI (Keep in mind, that a 690 is basically two 680's SLI'd on the same board). Plus if you wanted to deal with SLI'ing a 880, you'd have to replace everything and buy another 880, because SLI only works with two of the same card (they must be synced for it to work). So really, the 690 isn't a good option to recommend to people outside of MAXFPS enthusiasts who have a LOT of disposable income, buy new computers every year, and only play games that are SLI compatible. Plus the 690 is an absolute power hog, and is grossly inefficient compared to the performance per watt you are getting out of a single 680.

I don't know how it works with jets, but at least in my experience with giant-fan driven flying machines, the rain does not look so static. instead it sprays in a series of very tiny streaks that quickly disappear. For a jet going at 250+ kts, I would imagine the effect would be even more so. Like I said though, never driven anything jet powered into the rain.

Yes, and no, the F-15 turns faster than the Russian birds (faster, not tighter), so should be able to stay behind the bandit's line, making the R-73 pretty useless (it can't fire backwards). As for historical accuracy, if F-16C Blk. 30's can get the new HMS, I am pretty sure that F-15C's would be able to use them. And the F-15C modeled in sim isn't of a specific model. It has a range of tech that really isn't very time period specific. Until ED decides what period of F-15C they have built, I don't think realism is much of a factor when it comes to implementing missile systems. That being said, I don't think that they will. Who knows though, I could get pleasantly surprised. And then the forums will crash from too much Russian whining. You think people have a problem with mad dogging now? :D

Yeah, but if I buy the 680 now, I can run everything at max graphics that is out currently, and for the next year, Plus, I can buy the 880 in two years, and have double the performance of a 690 for the same price (680 + 880 would be around $1000). Plus I get to stick with all single GPU cards, and simply replace aging hardware (i.e. remove the 680 and insert 880).
