Yeah, the upgrade has been planned for a while, but they likely won't refit most of them until the late 201x's. Same with the F-15C's, though those are planned to be completed by 2015-ish. It's all part of the USAF's Eagle modernization procurement plan, and also included some massive upgrades for the entire Eagle/Mudhen fleet.

Actually, you will find that the flight models of the aircraft in FC are by and large mostly realistic. it is only when you start to encroach upon the outer limits of those flight models that you start to see things that aren't quite kosher. Of course, you are right, the systems and avionics are far from realistic. However the point you should consider is that any FC pilot who knows anything will tell you that realistic avionics and systems will increase the lethality of those birds by orders of magnitude, and not make them less lethal, as is popular opinion. I only wish that I could use all of the systems in my Eagle, but alas, it is not meant to be, at least not for now.

Yeah, I also encountered a totally unrelated issue with afterburners flickering, probably a known issue though.

I set up a quick mission with an unarmed F/A-18C and a fully armed MIG-31, just to see their new models. The MiG-31 fired one missile, which missed, then got engaged in a dogfight with the hornet. The hornet quickly gunned down the MiG-31 and turned to RTB to the carrier. All was okay, except the MiG-31 didn't crash. Instead, it climbed straight up at Mil power up to 98,000' where my game promptly crashed.

He thinks you mean 'the forming of super plastic' rather than the plasitcisty of forming. And radome's are almost always made of lightweight composite materials, so you are probably right. There may or may not be some metal bits to help with the wave modulation though.

Good show, and I'd advise reading the manual that can be downloaded for free before you buy. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/documentation/dcs-p-51d_flight_manual_en/ This should give you a good idea on how the systems and such are implemented in the DCS: P-51D. I think you will find it to be very immersing, and remember, there is no shame in using the takeoff rudder assists during your first few sorties. Also be advised that the aircraft performs very differently with different CG settings and stores configs. So it is probably good that you get a feel for how the bird flies in different configurations. By all, I think that suck and blow aircraft are cool and all, but blow and blow aircraft are more fun :).

DCS world is a core system that needed to be clean slated after every update due to the way said updates would otherwise be applied. With the new auto-updater, this is no longer an issue as it hash checks the updated files, and cleans up/repairs the install as it patches. If the installation gets corrupted anyways, there is now a repair function included in the auto-patcher.

IIRC the missiles we have now in DCS 1.2.1 are only half AFM. That is, the AFM for missiles has not been completely implemented. I would hold off all judgement until after FC3 comes out.

Yeah, this song is one of my favorites. Especially since all of the F-16 pilots I know act exactly like this when they aren't on any formal duties.
