  1. Totally agree. Please go get a job with CH or Cougar and force them into producing a HOTAS with FFB. :P One question; does it retain it's twist grip rudder?
  2. I wouldn't get bogged down in what he said to be honest. Soldiers aren't diplomats and as long as it's with in reason then I can filter out inevitable patriotic bias and concentrate on the info presented... I mean yeah it was harsh but I've seen footage of F14 pilots that had written "RagHeads" with an even harsher disclaimer on the inside of their canopy. Also I bet the French say similar things regarding the USAF as well. In fact they probably all get up to similar things, I was watching a documentary where a British soldier pretty much ripped into the professionalism of the US soldiers in Iraq. Rivalries, preconceptions and stereotyping are to be expected from all sides, especially among the allies.
  3. It's all guesses in reality .. unless Hughes/Raytheon start to release their real data along with Boeing, MD etc so I voted for Willing :). But it has to be within reason. I wouldn't mind aircraft in DCS: BS that were on par with the Su27/33 or F15 etc in Lockon right now. The most popular Flightsims are the ones with the most amount of flyable aircraft eg. IL2 and the king of sims, in terms of sales, M$FS. Both of those have a two tear system with some planes modeled to perfection, with in the limitations of the engine and others modeled good enough. As long as the standards are high then I would accept that some aircraft be modeled to a lesser degree. I mean could you imagine if 80% of the aircraft in LO were made flyable in BS F18/14/Intruder/ Tornado/ F4 Mig21/Foxbat etc. That would be one hell of a sim.
  4. I just ran a search for the title of this thread on Utube and ta-da: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Red+Flag+Su-30+MKI+Lectures+Video&search_type=&aq=-1&oq=
  5. Simulated it has thousands of kills ;) . Although 100 planes .. in one flight? If so then that would have been one expensive test.
  6. My bad . typo on my part I meant inexperienced. Every time I post that picture you always pull it apart .. LOL. Ok If the fight started BVR then I'd say 6 bugs were lost seeing as the Raptor carries 6 amraams.. I think. I'm not including aim 9's cuz that would be cruel. :P
  7. I pretty much agree. He basically said when we fought in India we got a bloody nose and when they fought at RF they got beat up a little and he gave good reasons too. The IAF have got to sort out the IFF situation or it'll be impossible for them to engage freely. But it doesn't sound like they suffered in the aggression department and I bet they learned a lot about integrating into the western systems. The IAF have a unique mentoring system for their MKI pilots with a very high standard of professionalism so I'm not surprised they never had any flying violations. All in all they did pretty good for a first time. As for the FOD damage I think they were paranoid, with good reason, because they never turned up with any spare engines so any damage meant trip back to Russia for the engine. The F15 fighting with drop tanks and weapons load . hmm well would that be possible with a better trained Su30 crew? I can't remember the exact context in which he said it but yeah very impressive. Anyway I found one of the most interesting pieces of info was his insight into how to fight a thrust vectoring fighter (F22) with an in experienced [i meant inexperienced] pilot/ crew at the controls. "Just wait for him to stall in the turn then climb and go to guns on him". Here's my favorite in cockpit picture of all time :D and I wonder if that's what was going on here. Bug bites bird :P .
  8. Does that mean you're cleared to use any type of music in your videos now?? ;)
  9. Of course not :music_whistling: . BTW your Christmas present is in the post .
  10. Awesome video, answers a lot of questions regarding the interface. Yeah thx jabog's I topped out at 801 kb/sec. :)
  11. Center: As a man I find it more intuitive :megalol: . Flying sidesaddle just makes the pilot look like a systems admin. :P Did you know that the first stick considered for the F16 didn't even move, it just registered pressure inputs from the pilots hand and then moved the control surfaces. I read that somewhere just can't remember where,.. pilots couldn't get use to it though so they went with the setup they have now.
  12. It's the release date of BS in the West.. 4809; 8th of April 2009. They were hoping for the April 08 hence 4808. :noexpression: Or how many days BS has been in development ;) .
  13. .. many, many more times than five.:crash:
  14. Well if you print it yourself then you could put the sections you think fit together in the same folder instead of all the chapters in one.
  15. WTF did he say "no more iron"? ,, LOL if that's the material they were shooting at then what did they expect.
  16. I totally disagree with you :D What you don't like about Naval Aviation is exactly what I do like about it. Naval opps are brutal on airframes so you'll suffer in the performance department compared to similar aircraft types in the air force, but the Marines and navy still have to get the job done. And they are usually the first ones in.
  17. Why not lol The Yf17 was never chosen becasue it most likely didn't fulfill the criteria of the selection brief, which was cheap running cost etc etc. Then the Navy pulled out becasue the F16 was pretty much useless to them so they went on to develop the F18. I have cut out a ton of stuff here :) . Anyway for me the F16 represents the Ford Focus of the fighter world lol oohh I know that's cruel but hey anything built for economy is just a little underwhelming.. IMO of course. Bean counters :P I have no doubt that two engines are no more reliable than one in terms of engineering but in terms of being shot at then I'll take two ;) and isn't the maintenance per flight hour for the F18E lower than the F16? I would If I could see it :P ,
  18. Great news thanks for the update  . OMG we are from the same asylum :joystick:  I print each chapter so I can separated it from the entire book, that way I don't have to do the paw thing you mentioned. :smartass:.
  19. Tell the pilots from twin engine airframes from Nam to GW2 that made it home on one engine, or far enough away for a safe ejection, that one engine is just as effective as two ;) . I know I give the Falcon a hard time and I'm not knocking it's capabilities but a fighter built to save money is just uninspiring to me. :noexpression: And don't get me started on the F35.. :D I'm trying to like it but operations under 10 thousand feet are going to be a hair raising experience. Anyone firing an AK in right direction and its by, by internet jet. :pilotfly:. But lets hope there's no wars and combat pilots can get paid to just play :P .
  20. Only bean counters and those that thought the F4 wouldn't need a gun would celebrate a single engine on a strike fighter :P . I'm just messing with you guys .. and I'm trying to take over Hitmans thread by stealth :D .
  21. .. funny that's what I was thinking before I posted :D .
  22. Am I naive or is there actually grid references for the map in the ME? And if so can it work like IL2 in multiplayer eg. attack Vehicles in grid B26 etc?
  23. Hey man you're doing a great job .. just do the best you can and remember have fun while doing it and try not to work overly hard and burn yourself and your enthusiasm out. Now I have a couple of spare canards and some ducktape .. that should do it :P .
  24. I doubt the manual could be sold, including shipping world wide, for cheaper than you could print it out yourself. Ink off of ebay is real cheap and perfect for documents. I'm not saying it isn't worth it .. the extra 150 pages and the fact you get an official manual is going to make it great value for money to have, but for a lo0n like me I just enjoy printing these manuals out myself. :)
