  1. Nice one SFK.. This will help a lot of people I'm sure.:thumbup:
  2. That's a tough one. In CAC modes for RU Fighters you get an IFF ID in the HUD, if you're radar is switched on, but the HDD doesn't give you that info so you can't export the ID to your G15. Unless the HUD info can be exported? Hehe you weren't asking just informing sorry..
  3. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. It all depends on the multiplayer environment and what capabilities the host will have at his disposal. Take ArmA, one the most insanely capable games I've ever played online and just when I thought I've seen it all I join a server and someone has scripted a zombie v Islander game or you're in an role playing map robbing banks or getting mugged at gun point, not to mention the portals :D. Anyway even ArmA with rooms as big as 60 it can be really .. well shitty. Chaos can rule and trying to organize that many people online takes a lot of effort. However c00ps are usually pretty good and 16 players should be perfect, for adversarial play no more than 32 but we won't have that in a DCS module for sometime yet. Although if the sim allows for it then I'd assume any number of players should be manageable with out too much hassle so I guess we'll have to wait and see.:)
  4. Finally back in the saddle. Dumb ass wing man gets all shot up just as things get interesting  .
  5. Awesome  . Great Job!!
  6. The demo for Lockon lasted in it's default state for about a week before some members of the community figured out how to make missions for it and the full sim was released within the month, if I remember correctly. I hope the same thing will be possible for the BS demo and if so then I bet it will be unrecognizable to the Devs after we have it 90 days ;) .
  7. I can relate to that.. I'm trying to figure out the Russian in the manual as we speak lol.
  8. It's taking a lot of time for the ED team to translate the manual to English so I doubt you'll find any software that will produce anything other than extreme gibberish. :D
  9. I have no idea what I'm reading but it looks fantastic. Here's a RapidShare link just in case it's useful; http://cosmonaut1.wordpress.com/2008/10/16/russian-dcs-flight-manual/ Upload it to Rapidshare.. no need to sign up. http://rapidshare.com/
  10. I'm unsure what you're asking exactly. Failures can be set to occur in Lockon so I can bet you can do the same thing, for the systems you've mentioned, in BS. The question you should be asking is can you break the Chopper by flying so aggressively or improperly as to cause a failure and I believe the answer to that question is yes. Although I'm not sure what failures or how that will work exactly.
  11. Great stuff  . Another completion boxed ticked :) .
  12. I'm tired of evading missiles . Gimmy one of these: .. all your amraams belong to me :D.
  13. Thx aztechx :). I'm not sure about the start up screens, though seeing as I'm guess you did the same thing I did and changed the meinit.xml to make the Su30 flyable. I would say it probably isn't because I've tried putting a start-su30.dds in the common folder and that didn't work so it is most likely hard coded.
  14. Odd ..the image you posted is 1080 x 675. Sure you have not altered any other settings in game or in your display settings?
  15. Multiplayer is going to be insane .. Future note to flight leads.. You send me crap waypoints to targets and I'll shoot you down myself. :D I like the sound of that. The developers journey is coming to an end just as ours is starting. .. Of course that will only last a few days until we start crying for a patch :P Thx for all the hard work.
  16. Great Job:thumbup:. SuperKungFu, don't think for a second that you'll be stepping on my toes. I'm sure there are lots of people running 4:3 ratio that would luv to have you screens This is a good test too becasue I assumed that a 30mb file would be unworkable but it seems fine. You should be able to reduce the file size a little with out any loss in quality.. I just sent you a message try it and see. Well done.. (WTF I thought I just posted this message:huh:)
  17. LOL .. :D I'm surprised you don't get jagged edges when using such a high res. I run 1024 and when I tried 1280 it looked terrible.
  18. It's a Higher Quality Image not a higher resolution one. The problem is in the auto rescale dealing with ratios outside 1024x768. If I make a higher resolution image then those running the default ratio will get jagged edges and the file size will sky rocket. I think in the end SKF had a 30mb mainscreen image. It was smooth but load times increased to an unusable level. So a compromise is the best way I could figure out how to deal with this issue. Basically 1024 image with a 4mb file size. It should look good for even the higher resolution screens with out decreasing loading times.
  19. We tried a few things and basically a one size fits all mainscreen image that produces zero loss in quality isn't really possible. Although I think I did manage to improve things using the default resolution but you still may see some jagged edges. Try this High Quality screen on your system and see what it looks like.Download 1mb

    F1

Moto GP sims have been released quite regularly and SBK 07 came out last year and now there's SBK:08, check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSPZnLj5mK4&NR=1 Even better Moto GP 08 will be released this month and they'll have 125 and 250 classes. http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/driving/motogp08/video/6197018/motogp-08-gameplay-movie
  21. I agree dawn or dusk is the best  . You're probably right. I think that constellations are even modeled correctly so why not different seasonal atmospheres.

    F1

Gatecrashing your F1 party :P. I was at one point the biggest F1 fan you could imagine (Tifosi) but after Schumacher left, F1 became exactly what the manufacturers have always wanted IMO and that is a constructors championship instead of a drivers one. Now I watch Moto GP and World Supper Bike and that is how racing should be. Overtaking happens not in pits but on the track and having the best bike means nothing becasue it's ability of the rider that wins the championship. Check it out: Moto GP: http://www.motogp.com/ World Supper Bike: http://www.worldsbk.com/pubb_EN/index.php You can see every race on the SBK site. A couple races left before the seasons ends so check it out. Infomercial over :D.
  23. Still don't want to believe Georgie is gone, I'm just getting over Bill Hicks's death. George Carlin at his best. This is my favorite piece from his routine. OK now here's something that only those that are truly into stand up comedy will understand. It's a good way to sort out the Saturday night live crowd from the true aficionados of comedy. When ever someone says to me "what's your favorite joke", I always say "The Aristocrats" and most people usually look puzzled but there's always one or two that make eye contact and grin. So you properly understand what all this is about, here's George Carlin explaining the joke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRS_2HgPPys George has performed this joke but I can't find it right now, but that doesn't matter becasue Gilbert Gottfried takes the Aristocrats to the edge of the envelope with his performance .. although I have heard a more extreme version if you can believe it and I think George Carlin told it. Right I can not press the point hard enough that this is extreme comedy so even if you don't think you're easily offended think twice about clicking this link. You can run searches for The Aristocrats to see how big the following of this joke is but it's one of those things you either get it or you think its nonsense.
