MiG-35 and MiG-29SMT presentation
Cosmonaut replied to Alfa's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I would Luv to have those cockpits in LO. :D -
Looks like you figured it out  I should have said that Section 7 of my CDDS tut explains how to add new slots and color schemes.
-
Nice:thumbup: . Ah yeah I forgot the F18's are .lom models. You should be able to actually add a slot to the F-18A/C.skins file if you don't want to use what's there already.
-
LOL totally my fault I should have been more clear .. I meant above 10K ..

When flying a low level CAS mission like we're seeing in the middle east I would assume a single Engine Strike fighter like the F16 to be not the best aircraft for the job. Weren't F16's limited to 10k feet in GW1 and 2?.. Better to send in F15E/18's or A10's.. Get one engine shot out due to small arms fire etc and the other engine will at least get you home or out of the area. And a country that can spend a few billion on its air defenses would surely be privy to more info regarding what it needs and what the capabilities are of the equipment its buying than anyone on these boards. Now that's something I'd like to see.. heh although I don't think the Cessna would have much of a chance :smilewink:

I hope we can just appreciate these Jets and not get into the politics. They look great I hope someone paints one up for LO.

Some info cross posted from the Russian Forums
Cosmonaut replied to GGTharos's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well at least the F18 is being mentioned again as a possibility. -
Try these. http://www.megaphile.com/ http://filexoom.com/

How tight do you want it (56k unfriendly)
Cosmonaut replied to 355th_Paulie's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Fly-though take away for airmen/women, I'm surprised you guys haven't heard about it yet. -
It's hard to find a picture of that particular part of the F15.. if you could then you'd be able to use the "Eyedropper" tool in Photoshop to match the color exactly. I had a look but i could only find this pic however its white and not the green you're looking for; http://s96920072.onlinehome.us/AWA1/001-100/walk020_F-15C/images%20Bryan%20Ribbans/f15%20bay%20at%20rear%20of%20cockpit.jpeg

I can understand you wanting more western flyables, most of us do as well, but I don't understand why, if you're so tired of flying the same two aircraft, you don't just fly the other 5 you have available to you. And I agree somewhat with EricJ regarding the Mig29 but I feel that we got 3 for the price of one. If they can give us three versions of the Mig with minimum effort on the developers part then why not. Although they shouldn't really advertise each one as a different flyable ;)

CLSID="{2C99F172-EAF3-4E49-8020-475E89467C02}">Snowbird 3 Left The CLSID you posted is the second entry.. The entry above it, in the xml file, shares the same CLSID number but also has an ID= number linking it to the skins file. eg. <ColorScheme CLSID="{9F46E21D-88F0-41b3-B7CF-0D825D9A4A6B}" ID="0" Name="AF Standard 1"></ColorScheme> second entry; <ColorScheme CLSID="{9F46E21D-88F0-41b3-B7CF-0D825D9A4A6B}">AF Standard 1</ColorScheme>

Padlock enabled - yes or no ?
Cosmonaut replied to golfsierra2's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I use the mouse to look around but the whole issue with padlock is that it can be spammed so you'll pick up targets that you wouldn't notice or be able to see IRL. However I think this has been corrected in LO and the Padlock FOV and distance is such that it may not be possible to abuse in game anymore. If not then leave it on, the argument that its the most realistic way to track a target is pretty strong. F2 sometimes I guess but for the most part it should be in cockpit only. Off line you can F2 all you want .. I know i do ;) Oh and F10 IMO is more realistic turned on if only your aircraft is being showed. -
Coming from you that really means a lot. Thanks Deadman. :)

Damn funny :megalol: I remember reading an account of an F4 in Nam where the back seater passed out and the explanation given was that the back seat G loads are slightly higher than the pilot in the front .. cant remember any more details and not sure if its true or not but just wonder if that could be why he passed out while the pilot was still conscious. Thats a blue angels F18 isn't it? If so they don't where G-suits do they?

I'm no expert with 3d modeling but do you have a ".skins" file for your 3D lom model? Edit: I think its the Value= number in the skins file that links to the ID number in the xml file.

I made a tutorial regarding CDDS files and a few other things that you may find helpful. The link is in my sig.

I agree I was really just listing the lack of automation out of interest because its one of my favorite airliners :D for the very fact that even flying it in a sim your work load never stops through out the flight. :pilotfly: And also how the pilot couldn't just setup the aircraft to fly itself while he kept his eye on the windscreen ;) @ZoomBoy27, I remember seeing that story too .. Amazing how he survived.

I used fly the 727 in FS9 quite a bit when I first got the sim and heres what the auto pilot didn't have, this is from Flight1's 727; FMC: Sorry, but the vast majority of 727s were never fitted with this modern convenience, and neither is ours. LNAV & VNAV: Not available- you want realism, don't you? Autoland: The real 727 never had it, and neither does ours. Punch off the Autopilot at 1,000', and tackle that crosswind with your own two hands, just as the real 727 pilots do. Autothrottle: Yet another modern convenience not on the real 727, and not on ours either. With the 727 you'll fully understand the term "a fist full of throttles".
-
Can you imagine descending from 30K feet with a cracked windscreen  .. That looks like an older 727 as well which didn't have much of an auto pilot either, it had this crazy looking mini Joystick thing to control the rate of decent and I'm not sure if it even had a nav hold..
-
I agree with that as well, also maybe some debris from the nose may have hit the the windscreen. The aircraft is a 727 and they're really quite old but even so it must have been a hefty size piece or pieces of ice to damage the aircraft like that. I'd guess the 727 wasn't going faster than 250 knots, seeing as thats the max speed allowed below 10K feet in the US and in most countries to maintain safe separation at low-ish altitude you probably wouldn't get cleared above that either .. especially in bad weather.
-
LOL .. :megalol: I could just imagine a Politician reading that site and thinking "Hmm that's a good way to lower the number of friendly fire incidences.. Just count every target destroyed as a successful mission whether its part of the allied forces or not". :D

Puts tinfoil hat on. It's a Pentagram used for devil worship .. I've heard the Pentagon believe it makes US missiles more accurate. :matrix:
