Are you sick of waiting for Black Shark?
Cosmonaut replied to HRZ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Waiting for patches, addons, fixes, information about upcoming products, development screen shots and progress reports from the DEVs is all quite normal…. Welcome to the world of flighsimming, give it a year or two and you’ll get use to it ;) -
Ok just to clarify; to get this update all I have to do is run the F 15 update exe and it will do everything for me?
-
Oops I should have voted for this one = F-18 VS Mig-29K (+ F-15C VS SU-27 in addon) F18vMig29K (sneak in a Su33 too) and forget everything else .. Naval strike fighters is what we need  . I miss the Mig29K from Flanker and the F18, along with the Su33, is my all time favourite Military aircraft .. ..This sim is just made for me.. isn’t it? ;)

v1.2 Poll Market Research Poll - Ka-50 or F/A-18?
Cosmonaut replied to Dutch60's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Old thread Alert .. I still voted tho ;) I had to go for the Ka50 for two reasons .. One, we’re gonna get it (and I’m a bit of a chopper nut) and Two, we all know why we’ll never get the Hornet. A real shame seeing as the model in the game is one of the best and is ready to go as a 3d model.. I really don’t care if ED even made some stuff up in terms of avionics to get the F18 in the sim …But that aint gonna happen so I guess all we can do is dream about the Bug. -
Uninstaller worked perfectly and then installed the new one with no probs.. Great work with .exe. Testing with new AB effects.

Another great update!! Thx!

Nvidia 8800gts + 2.6 AMD Dual Core =
Cosmonaut replied to 3Sqn_Fudd's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
ATI image quality is awesome, nice screen shots. I have to agree with you regarding min fps but trying to find a balance in LO is pretty hard seeing as the fps swing is so high, from like 70fps to under 20 at times and that’s with in the same mission. I’m still balancing things out with my 7600gt and for me the kind of IQ in the two pics below looks great and keeps me between 15 to 20fps in highly stressed areas but for the most part I see just above 30 on average in cockpit and obviously even higher in external views. -

Only the first screen shot is maxed. At that altitude with my res (1024x768 ) the screen shots aren’t doing it justice..it looks a lot better while flying but its completely unplayable at around 10 fps as you could imagine. Here’s a couple more maxed out. and why no mirrors.. -

[AGP] Nvidia 7600GT, AMD Athlon 3.0 GHz with 1 gig of ram. I just got my Nvidia 7600GT a few weeks ago; http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=19607 My card cost about one quarter or a third of a 8800gts but the performance is still pretty impressive. Here’s my fps with max settings 8x AA. 16x AF, all LO settings maxed out etc. Here’s the FPS I get with my normal settings; 4x AA, 4 x AF water set to high vis range medium.. -
Awesome!! :) Just took the new updated Eagle out for a test drive.. absolutely stunning. Great job Walmis.

I don’t know if this is relevant but I just installed an [AGP] Nvidia 7600GT and I posted my settings and some screen shots here; http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=19607

My sentiments exactly, I am using the new Eagle and loving it. This is a first for the community and there are bound to be minor hiccups that we can point out and thankfully we have a community member like Walmis that is brave and talented enough to take on a huge project like this.

LOL I know I should have said “I’m a shamed to say a GF3” ;) hehe on low settings it wasn’t that bad although FC made things very difficult at times. 8x AA? I run 4x AA and 8 or 16x AF.
-
My old card was a GF3 Ti 200 128mb and my system: AMD Athlon 3.0 GHz with 1 gig of ram. Yep you were right shadow set to full had no impact on FPS and I’m now running 16X AF with no drop in FPS either. I do think that 8x AF looks better though but I'll check out a few other sims and games before I decide which one to leave it on. christopher m, thx for the info I’ll try the settings you suggested, right now I’m not running any fps tweaks what so ever as I just wanted to see how the card handled the sim as stock but over densely rendered cities I would like to see more stability in my FPS with the settings I’m running. As for the 2xQ, well for me there isn’t any drop in FPS from 2Q to 4 and 4x aa looks better incockpit for sure. I agree 100% with Disso regarding the cockpit reflections, they don’t pose a threat to my fps and the cockpit looks naked with out them ;) .

Great Job!! :) Ah good news.. I don’t have a problem with any skins but I do prefer to fly “historically” accurate skins and I assumed that these were designed specifically for your knew model. Well done with the entire package I cant even imagine the time and patience it must have taken to put it all together.. Once again well done and your efforts are greatly appreciated.

We always hear about the monster upgrades so how about a budget upgrade ;) . I got my 7600GT a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I’m really impressed with the overall performance for what I paid for the card; here’s my settings… and this is with 4x AA / 2x AF. Here’s some in game screen shots. I’m still pretty much testing settings to see what will give the best FPS but the most disappointing thing is the fact that I found it impossible to find a set of general settings that could produce high FPS all the time. The only problem areas are over any part of the map where the terrain is flat when running good weather with the general visibility maxed out. Under those conditions I can see as low as 15 to 20 over cities; however once I add overcast clouds my FPS increases dramatically. Over hills, mountains and through valleys, regardless of visibility, I experience high FPS with an average of about 30 to 35 in cockpit however it’s over the sea where my FPS really takes off and in cockpit I can average 60 with water on High. One thing I found surprising when trying to compensate for low fps over cities is that when I set 2X AA and turned off AF I didn’t see any increase in FPS what so ever although I could clearly see the reduced in quality in game. So after taking the screen shots above I started turning things up and now I’m running 4x AA, 8x AF and I’ve set shadows to “All Planar” with the result showing no decrease in FPS on the tracks I’ve tested it on. A little OT but I finished Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter last weekend with all the settings maxed out (medium was the highest for texture quality) except for in game texture filtering where I set that to tri linear from the default 8X and I had complete butter smooth game play through out the entire campaign. I did consider a complete upgrade but I don’t think the increase in speed would be high enough to justify the expense right now so this will hopefully extend the life of my PC for another year and a bit.. I hope ;) . Anyway for a budget upgrade I’m more than happy with the results and for me Lockon looks like a completely different flightsim compared to the settings I use to run.

While flying have a look and make sure Alt hold is off 1st, if so then try this; Goto; C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config Open the producer.cfg file and change; ForceFeedbackEnabled = true; To ForceFeedbackEnabled = false; Exactly like I have written it with no caps.

Realism is state of mind when talking about flightsims. One mans realism is another mans arcade game. I know a few die hard M$FS fans that routinely fly 8 to 10 + hour flights on VATSIM where you cant leave your PC for more than 30 mins or you could have your flight cancelled and they think all combat flightsims are toys. For me it’s “realism with in reason” I don’t want four hour flights, I just don’t have the time nor motivation for that and realism is as important to me as it is to anyone else. What I do want is as real as you can get in terms of avionics, FM’s and missile accuracy but I understand that all of those things are classified so like it or not the devs will have to make some educated guesses with hopefully some input from the community. I also appreciated that with amount of flyables in lockon, it will take time to get everything modeled and fixed to a level that most of us would like so for me I see lockon in the same way I see most other sims and that is as a work in progress.

Great Work!! :D :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tkgYv3HuV4 4:21 into this video you can plainly see that the Su27 releases way more flares than we can in LO, while flying the Su. However I don’t know if the Russian knights Su27 was modified to carry more flares for display purposes, so I don’t really know if whats represented in LO is realistic or not.
