I use a maximum of ~1.4v for 24/7. Tested 1.54 with no problems, too. I've not seen a damaged Sandy cpu yet, most of the things people say about the voltage are rumors. For nehalem 24/7 maximum was around ~1.4v, so I will keep that.
-
Yea to overlock Sandy cpus you only have to change two settings in bios, clock ratio and vcore, very easy.
-
See the specs in my sig. With i5 2500k at 4.8Ghz and an overclocked gtx 570 my fps at 1920*1080 at max details are always smooth and most of the time greater then 60fps even at full airports. You won't have any troubles with your rig.

Intel basically made OC easier than ever. Change clock ratio to 47, change Vcore to 1.39V and 4.7ghz Sandy CPU is good to go.
-
Look at my thread, I already overclocked two i5 2500k cpus some days ago. It's easy to oc them to 4.8Ghz+ watercooled, especially since new BIOSes have been released which break a bios lock which restricted the cpus to run faster then 4.8Ghz/4.9Ghz. With new BIOS, they do the 5Ghz without big problems. Yes these sandy cpus give a nice performance in DCS.
-
Wait for the new Sandy Bridge cpus which will be released on the 9th january. They perform way better and are easier to overclock than the old i5/i7 cpus.

Thanks sounds great :)

The 1st stage of the trigger on my Hotas Warthog is acting as it should but I have to almost violently press the trigger down to reach the 2nd stage. I hear a clicking sound but nothing happens if I don't press it down hard enough. Is your 2nd trigger stage also that hard to activate ? Greetz, Migo

If Boot910 is a nice guy he could post us the file he created with the frontplate designer ;)

Yea it's awesome.

GPU advice for Eagle Dynamics sims

Get the 570, same performance as HD6970 but better overclocking capability. GTX 570 can easily be overclocked to GTX 580 level. -
I can post the source tomorrow, I'm going to sleep now. I think you will be able to overclock the i7 2600k higher than the 2500k but nor for everyday use. The 2500k and 2600k will need the same amount of voltage for the same clock. If a 2500k needs 1.45v for 4.7ghz for example, which is alot of voltage and is very hot, the 2600k will need 1.55v for 5.1Ghz and will need too much voltage and will be too hot to have it running 24/7 on that clock. greetz, Migo

The Vcore in the pic I posted was around ~1.5v. Cpu-Z isn't able to read out the Vcore correctly yet. The second 2500k which I'm using now is a lot better to overclock and runs at 4.7Ghz with 1.36v vcore, the one posted in the pic needed 1.45v. Right now the i7 2600k can even be overclocked higher, to 5.1Ghz or further because of the clock ratio and some bios restrictions, difficult to explain. In general the 2600k will perform the same as a 2500k in DCS when both run at the same frequency.

What pics do you want ? I attached some pics I posted in another forum. I have one i5 2500k on sale now, if someone in Germany wants to buy it. ;) greetz, Migo

Just replace the default soundfile with a song you like renamed to the original file's name. Must be .ogg format.

No, the shop abroad where I ordered my cpu accidentally shipped me 2 cpus instead of one. Didn't try to oc my ram yet but that's the next point on my "to-do" list.
-
Normal watercooled -> ambient temp I tested a 2nd cpu today. I'll stick with 4.7Ghz. The first i5 2500k that I tested yesterday needed 1.5v for 4.8Ghz and 1.45 for 4.7Ghz. The new one only needs 1.36v for 4.7Ghz which is more than ok for 24/7. :) greetz Migo

Yea it really sucks that one must have 12 keys available to use the radio menu.
-
My cpu and gpu are watercooled. I think one would be able to achieve 4.5-4.6 Ghz on an air cooled 2500k.
-
Thanks for the advice. I'll try that tomorrow, enough for today :) Wish you a good night. Greetz Migo

I didn't OC my ram. But after installing new OCed GTX 570 my fps jumped to the sky. It raised my Performance by another 65% ! That a total of 85%, 74fps at Batumi runway start, now I'm one lucky man. greetz Migo

Yea and OC is easy like never before. Go into the BIOS set multiplicator to 48, Vcore to something around 1.4v and you're good to go. No more BCLK QPI/VTT struggling. Right now I'm searching a way to get past 4.8Ghz but not much success yet. greetz Migo

Got a new CPU today. My previous i5 750 ran at 4Ghz. The new 2500k was easy to overclock to 4.8Ghz. After that the BIOS starts to make trouble. The 20% higher clock resulted in 20% performance gain in DCS: A10. 48fps instead of 40fps at Batumi for example. Which again shows the higher the cpu clock, the higher the performance in DCS. Of course that's only true if your graphics card is not the bottleneck. Update 28/12/10: I received my new GTX 570 today, installed the watercooler, overclocked it and started DCS: A10. It seems my HD5850 was the new bottleneck after installing the i5 2500k because my FPS raised by another 65%, that's crazy !!! Game is gone wild now. Last week Batumi: 28fps -> Beta4: 40fps -> i5 2500k: 48fps -> GTX570: 74FPS ! Last week I've not been able to dream about 74fps. I can even set everything to high now also. Visib. Range: High (instead of Medium), Civ. Traffic High (instead of Off). Only costs me 2fps. I feel like I'm in heaven now and I really don't understand how that worked. My explanation is that my graphics card was the new bottleneck after installing the new 4.8Ghz CPU. It's finally always more than fluent gameplay for me. greetz Migo

I think there was an update. I only took a quick look in the Maverick-Training and found 2 tanks instead of 4 at one side of the shooting range. That's one update and I think there are a lot more to find ^^
