  1. Can you give us an introduction to the Paradise Lost campaign? What's the year, who do you play as, overall goal?
  2. I'm Army, the anti-collison light and position lights come on when we turn on the battery at night. WHen we were in country as soon as we departed the field everything went off except for slime lights. I currently operate on an USAF base, they turn on their anti-collision and position lights either with the battery or at engine crank too. Not USN/USMC, but something as basic as lights is probably pretty common throughout.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it in 2D with just the monitor to check the controls as you suggested. It worked fine. I guess it is an oculus issue...maybe. I'll have to try it with oculus now. It was a VR options issue. Had to make sure the hand controllers were unchecked in options. Weird that it only affected the F-14.
  4. Having control issues with the F-14. I have tried both the A&B. When in the firs person (F1) view the aircraft controls are dampened. I can put in full deflection and get almost no reaction. When I switch to exterior view (F2) everything works fine. It is almost like I have to pump the stick to get movement. I can move the stick to the center and back in the direction of roll and I get a little more roll each time. It is not my joystick, I have tried multiple other aircraft with no issues. I have done a repair and tried restarting my computer. I have been testing in free flight so it's not like I forgot to turn on a pump (and if I had, it shouldn't work in the exterior view). This didn't happen until the latest hotfix.
  5. When I fly the F-14 (A or B) in the first person cockpit view the input is sluggish then quits. I'll pull up or put in a lateral movement and the aircraft begins to move then just kind of stops after a few degrees of roll or nose up/nose down. I can't even roll inverted. I thought it was an airspeed issue, it happens in all flight regimes, SAS on and off, gear up or down. However when I go to an exterior view the jet suddenly responds and I can throw it around as I would normally, once I go back to the cockpit the input is dampened again. I tried other aircraft, no issue. I tried rebinding the joystick...no joy. Anyone else have this issue?
  6. If anyone is interested in reading about Afghanistan, a new book about a KW pilot's two tours in Afghanistan has been released.
  7. Yup, I know the area.
  8. Where is that? I was in Kandahar 2012-2013. We replaced 2/6 Cav.
  9. I've never flown a Huey, but I have flown Kiowas and Blackhawks. In Afghanistan there were many times I bounced in my hover to the strip and then either bounced a bit or drug the skids to get a Kiowa in the air. As you said, it's important not to turn the tail into the wind and to take off into the wind, hopefully there is some wind.
  10. There were a lot of grunts in Afghanistan and Iraq that would disagree with you.
  11. You are correct, both the TH-57 and TH-67 are based on the 206.
  12. There is not datalink in the Kiowa, everything is passed over the radio or lased to get another aircraft on target (laser spot trackers or grids can be used) BFT is the closest the Kiowa comes to a datalink...and BFT is not a datalink.
  13. Are you talking about the Armored Cav Regiments? I've always wondered why 1st Cav has Battalions instead of Squadrons.
  14. An apache has roughly a 2 hour flight time, you can eek out 2.5 with a low power setting. There is also an external fuel tank that can be carried.
  15. Task forces can be thought of as cross leveling for combat. A Cav Squadron or ARB trades some combat power to an assault battalion or GSAB for some lift assets and in return the GSAB or assault battalion gains attack/reconnaissance assets. In my experience the Taskforce still falls under the same brigade and still receives support from the same aviation support battalion.
  16. May be looking for financial backing to continue development.
  17. Sounds fun, thanks.
  18. I'm really enjoying Zone 5, any idea when Fear the Bones will coming? Will it have the real world procedural elements that Zone 5 does?
  19. Our TACOPS officers were able to use the drawing tools from Falcon View to draw corridors and other images on the map before transferring it to the aircraft.
  20. Three Questions: 1)Will the moving maps be loaded automatically for whichever map we are playing on or will players need to do something to load the maps? 2)Will there be an ability to load the "mission" card with weapons data, frequencies and waypoints before entering the mission? How will this work? 3) The TACOPS types were able to draw corridors, no fly areas, etc. will that be possible with the moving map?
  21. It's right only. Report explaining IHADSS and eye dominance. Report is from 2004
  22. South Carolina National Guard, they've been gone for a few years. The last gray AH-64 Apache departs McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Eastover. The S.C. National Guard's gray Apaches were the only experimental paint scheme authorized by the Army for use on the Apaches during the Global War on Terrorism. The 1st of the 151st Air Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB) flew 14 of them in combat from 2004 to 2005. Their color made it more difficult for insurgents on the ground to see them coming. The grey Apaches also proved to be easier to repair because the experimental color made the skin temperature about 20-30 degrees cooler than the standard Army green paint scheme. At Hunter I saw one with Princess Leia painted on the avionics bay and one with a shark mouth (just painted in black) on the avionic bays. Both were painted green overall.
  23. Noticed the same issue, you might try changing distortion curvature to low in the Oculus Debug tool.
  24. Black Aces High is great. If you're interested in fiction; check out Punk's War, Punk's Wing and Punk's Fight by Ward Carroll. Carroll was an F-14 NFO. I believe he writes in the same way Kevin Miller does, events that happened to him or he knows of that are then embellished or changed to meet the book's story line.
  25. Not exactly. It gives you an idea of where the good guys are and it can give you an idea of where the bad guys are (if anyone bothers to update it when in contact), but I wouldn't use it for danger close CAS. It does have a very handy text message function that is great when you have different radio fills than a ground unit. It does grealy assist in SA for friendly forces or aircraft in congested airspace.
