//he's coming shhhh...........run!

11.8 IMHO, is the most stable to date. Don't listen to AMD, they 'NEED' you and people like you to download the latest and 'greatest' so that they can identify problems with 'specific' games. Fact is, despite the lobbying, the will not finetune their driver for the DCS series, because there is nothing out of the ordinary happening graphics wise, in the sim. So......................................if it aint broke, don't bloody fix it! 11.8

Sorry I didn't see ya post ole boy! A great PC you have there! Why not 'ask around' first before posting something like this? Come along to our TS one night next week, we'll see if we can help you. I'm willing to bet a pound to a pinch of shit, we'll get you going! Then you can come back here and apologise. By 'shutting' I'm assuming you mean 'stuttering'??? 'T'

From within the 74th's Website ( http://www.74thvirtual.co.uk) you can now view 'Live Feeds' of members flying, training and mission running. 'Live Feeds' will be advertised on our front page. We would like to take this opportunity to ask you for your help by popping along today (mod's please delete post after today) during the timings advertised so that we may evaluate the feasibility of using the free account for vfs useage. Our findings will be made public. Question: Why all of a sudden 'LiveStream'? Arn't you just copying the 'VFAT' idea? Answer: 'LiveStream' (previously known as 'Mogulus'), is a well known provider of streaming technologies to the private and commercial sectors. The technology has improved massivly over the past 2 years to the point that the utilisation of a Flash front end, almost renders the constant 'download' to a negligable throughput. This is in comparison to 'what is being viewed', it's quality and the increase (albeit variable) in reliable Broadband speeds that we have all benefited from during the past two years. We're not 'copying' VFAT here at the 74th, but it is fair to say that VFAT 2011 has played a major part in reawakening an awareness of the technology by the 74th Leadership. LiveStream has always been on the 74th's roadmap. Question: So, are you really paying out $300+ per month for LiveStream? What do you intend to use it for? Answer: Ok firstly, we are not paying anything. We are using the 'free' account that anyone can create. There are limitations with the free account such as bandwidth (upstream 500kbps) and quality (not HD), but we have gone to great lengths over configuration of the 'pro-caster' and our own hardware, to ensure that the 'live feed' you will receive is not only acceptable, it's pretty bloody good! LiveStream has so many uses for 'any' Virtual Fighter Squadron, but here at the 74th we will use it for Training, Mission Evaluation (tracks and tacview), LYNX server 'live-feed' (after a timed warning to members of the community), Mission Briefings, Braindumping and the 'odd' demo flight. Question: Ok, so when is it active and how do i watch the 74th's 'Live Feed' Answer: The 74th's Livestream Channel has been configured and is set up. It is 'Active' now, and you can get to it by entering the 74th Media Channel 'LiveStream' Sticky post in the 'Public chat and Introductions forum' on our site, or by direct link http://www.74thvirtual.co.uk/live.html . However, remember that it is a 'Live Feed' and as such there may be nothing on currently. We will be advertising the live feeds on the front page of the website, http://www.74thvirtual.co.uk as you can see here, or in the Public Chat and members forums. The only 'Dynamic' transmission will be that of LYNX Server activity, and there will be a warning to those who are on the server at the time, of 30 minutes prior to transmission. Even this Dynamic transmission will be advertised. Question: Finally, can i re-view any previous transmissions of 'Live Feeds' like recordings? Answer: It is not our intention to 'store' live feeds for viewing at a later date. Our YouTube page is the place for all 'Passive' videos. 'Active Feeds' are live only. Thanks for your help in advance. Regards 'T'

Hi C0ff, Mind telling us what was re-written? Was it just to increase stability or something else? 'T'

Well done guys, much deserved!

Hmmm, try camararderie, the thrill of flying with others who are as good, if not better than you, in the cockpit, the compliance with a set of SOP's and unifying knowledge and systems of work that you all comply with. Er..............no it won't. The Sqn directory is the place for this and a good portion of squads do exactly that there.

Couldn't agree more 'B'. Some awesome flying by all, really, but for me so far has been the VRA. A little shocked no one took up the 'A-10C' challenge for this year............. //starts scribbling a display:helpsmilie:

VFAT 2011 huh! jesus, just sorta 'snuck' up on me this year! We are promoting this fantastic event on our site and have set aside a dedicated Teamspeak channel for those who wish to hang out and watch it. We have also embedded the player on one of our pages. Really looking forward to it, good luck guys and thanks for what you do! 'T' PS: Hey Ells'y. Me n the kids watched the flight today with the vulcan bomber. I was touched by the opening dedication to the recent loss of the 2 pilots and to my kinsman in the Defence community. Thanks man. S!

What surprises me more than anything is not the complete 'dis-function' of the Master Server system and the in-ability to port 'out' appropriate information for a bespoke matching system, but rather the metaphorical 'quiet-lad' in the corner named ED, regarding the subject. I'm not intending to bust ED's balls here, hell, they know how much i and many others like me, support their product, concepts and the regular dynamic 'wind of change' with regards to their products (ie patches), but come on! The people have spoken and rather loud too. ED would do well to listen instead of driving themselves into the ground with new ideas and concepts. Get what you have first, 'right'. Fact is, it's a long way off.

We don't always agree ole boy, but fairpoint. 'T'

IMHO the Master Server system is a flawed concept conceived with the best of intentions, (based around continual intellectual protection of genuine copies by creating another security 'layer') but in execution is a complete failure. Get rid of it ED. 'T'

Letter to Eagle Dynamics regarding BS2

Thank you for the listing

tut tut. It's not about the 'interoperability' between the two. They don't. Simple. However, that doesn't mean that your squad mates or a complete stranger for that matter, can't actually simulate on Teamspeak one of the principles of 'all' Military helicopters, irrelevant of country. 'Recce'. In the weeds. Eye's on. Tally. Get it? 'T'

BS2 have out, and what happens with FC2?
Heli Shed replied to Silver_Dragon's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
And in contravention of a legally binding NDA which would result in instant spontaneous combustion as soon as you turned your pc on.:smilewink: -
Well done ED. A little dissapointed to be frank that what was essentially a tested patch has been released as a seperate product rebranded as Blackshark 2. Hmmm...... oh well, modern economic times i spose means that even now we pay for patches? To be frank, i`m sort of playing devils advocate to so much speculation and controversy about BS2. Fact is, i`ll buy it, will continue to and actually would pay 3 times the amount. There isn't a FM that exists that has the acccuracy and diligence in a product. fairplay. 'T'
-
A known problem for sure. Personally i done a hell of a lot of testing for ED with regards to Multiplayer stability and the dreaded Master Server list, but to no avail. However, get rid of the 'big brother' Master server list and you get rid of the problem. Contingency plans such as making available your direct IP via other methods (Website, TS MOTD) is a way of beating the problem, for now. Placing in the DMZ has no effect at all, i assure you. Regards 'T'
