  1. Aye, Well done ole boy. It's now in our Docs area alongside SHORAD document as a standalone. See you sunday. 'T'
  2. Thanks Evon, interesting! 'T'
  3. See sig. good luck. 'T'
  4. You are all welcome anytime, you know that. With Servman 3, you can vote missions in. Currently there are 3 different styles of each Op. Standard, at night and opposite weather to the original. Details are on the website mission briefings area. 14 missions to choose from. The only stipulation is that you are on our Teamspeak and you 'converse' with each other. We are sort of forcing those that don't want to do so. There is no need to register on the website. Teamspeak details are contained on the first few lines of the mission description. Highlight the server on the master server list and you will see the teamspeak IP and password. When you connect, you will be told the A-10C's server password. Current server in use is: 'LYNX' - Core 2 duo E8650 @ 3Ghz, 4 GB DDR3, on a NVidia 8800GT (not needed to be honest). 'LYNX' has been designed to serve A-10C. All settings finetuned for a flawless and lag free delivery. Currently in co-lo in the UK on a highspeed backbone of 50/25. More than big enough. 24/7 365. Our other server 'PUMA' is in Sweeden and currently down. It is used for DCS Blackshark Fam flights for 74th members oinly and is 'on call' for use. Enjoy. 'T'

  7. Someone educate me on the FSX scene, please. Why were the team sacked? Regards 'T'
  8. :megalol::lol::lol:
  9. :thumbup: fair one. I'm willing to bet the EMP area will get you before 'pickle'..........................hint. Refer to my last post. This whole mission is designed for you to practice your Pop up tactics. Of course, tgtíng, climbing, and dropping a JDAM is an option, but krikey, long ole way! :music_whistling: :) 'T'
  10. Do-able? er.......................yes. This is not difficult. A challenge yes, but certainly not difficult. Your tactic is exactly correct. Pop up tactic is the ONLY way to defeat the BUK when under an altitude constraint, in this case offered by the overcast at Angles 10. Fun? er...............................yep. Right their mate, sure is! realistic? er..............................I wouldn't have thought so TBH. Although in loose terms the A-10a/c 'has and can' commit to SEAD sorties, the fact of the matter is that it is NOT a SEAD aircraft, nor is it equipped with long distance standoff weapon systems, HARM etc etc It is a Tank Killer. As such it would engage MBT, IFV, ARV and infrastructure Tgt's once an IADS threat is reduced / eliminated by dedicated SEAD flights with appropriate weapon systems. Sure, it can engage and destroy mobile SAM's and other SHORAD systems, but it is not a deciated SEAD platform. So, why the IADS / BUK coverage over the corridoor known as 'NAI SAMSON' in Op Samson? Well, it's simple TBH. The whole mission is designed for you to practice your skills at NOE, terrain masking, Beaming, use of CMS, Pop-up tactic and finetuning your system of work between the target aquisition systems (TGP) and engagement systems. If you can do the whole mission without getting killed, and have had an effect on enemy forces (not just in an anchor 30km south ;-)), then you are well on your way to becoming very effective in this airframe. Thats what we are all here for right? Regards 'T'
  11. Ok.......and how will you do that with an overcast at 10,000 ft? and an EMP area of 15km around the enemy base which includes the Coridoor? ;-)
  12. Hi mate. I designed Op Samson. It is a challenge and certainly achieveable. You are not prioritising your targets. You should follow the following principles: Radar, SAM, AAA, MBT, IFV, ARV (sometimes MBT and IFV can be swapped around depending on threat) With this in mind, take out the RADAR of the corridoor first. Be cautious of reinforcements boith sides of the river! Aquire the Tgt at max range. It is possible to do this without a point lock just after taking off. Go into the weeds. Use terrain masking (there's a big bloody hill smack bang in the middle, hint), NOE flying and move from town / village to town / village. Use the pop up tactic at 18 nm approx to reaquire the tgt and make a point lock, make it the SPI, Dump bags of chaff, beam the threat area, and dive back into the weeds. maintain a beam posture until any spiking has stopped. Once spiking has stopped, re-allign off center toward the Tgt, ensure you are moving from West to east parralell to the corridoor, to ensure no TGP masking. flying in the weeds will mean that you will not have a sight picutre of the Tgt in the TGP any more, fear not. At approx 7 .5 km, in the weeds with your mavs ready to go, conduct a pop up and on the roll with the Mav MFCD as SOI, slave/slew the seeker head, to the SPI, TMS up short, lock, & fire! You will be back in the weeds before even being fired upon. Failing all of the above, come along to one of our Open workshops where Op Samson highlights the importance of being able to fly low, use tactics such as terrain masking and NOE and engagement at max stand off distance. Good luck. 'T' PS: be aware that the Corridoor has 4 BUK positions controlled from a central location. East to west = about 6km. North to south = about 2 km. Get too close to the coridoor and then BUK system at the enemy base will engage you. It is a position in mutual support and offers depth of the coriddor. Take out the SAM cover in the coridoor to neutralise the EMP field.
  13. OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! //coughs. Irrelvant of the fact that i didn't read it correctly, i won't be able to lead the 74th members on this, damn. 9th July. RAF Duxford. Open day. I'm going with wife n kids for a bloody good day out. As much as i still love you guys over at the 104th, i`m afraid i definitely won't be able to make this OpFor. However, i will canvas my 74th members (TBH, we have just established a FAM Flight closed server, and as most of them are A-10C fliers, some are a little wobbley under the legs in the shark) and see if any of them would like to represent us in what will undoubtedly be, a great event. Good luck, Crunch. Have a really good one. :-( 'T'
  14. Hi Crunch, as ever, on top of your game in the name of the 104th, awesome stuff. I have no doubt that it will be a raging success. I would love to committ some of my own members to it, but see no reference to KA-50 and as a result, will be unable to support. Shame. Please let me know if this will change. regards Mick 'T'
  15. Nothing ole boy. Have you? :music_whistling:
  16. Top Tip. Do NOT edit the network.cfg with Notepad++. From pause_on_load=false to true use Notepad. Strange but true. The .cfg file will not save the change if you use Notepad++.
  17. AFAIK 3/9 is standard method of LGB's. The above Hud symbology graphic refers to a Mk 82 being dropped using the 5 mill method and is used only as a graphic for reference to the ASL, solution cue and pipper. Regards 'T'
  18. Agreed. Its rare to find a a MP server with labels on TBH. But to echo viper, its your sim. Why not try training offline with the labels on, to allow you the time to get used to the system of work with regards to aquiring and locking a target? Alternatively, why not try using the active pause in SP? GL 'T'
  19. Memphis, an excellent documentation pack. well done m8. I will add this thread to the one i have just 'chucked up'. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75876 Regards +1 'T'
  20. *****LESSON 6 - LASER GUIDED BOMBS - GBU10 & GBU12***** Hi all, There seems to be a fair amount of confusion on how to employ LGB's in the Sim. Matt Wagner produced an excellent video going through step by step what is required. This post is an 'extract' from the 74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' Engagement School, Lesson 6. It accompany's Matts video and also calls reference to some further reading and Geskes own video for those of you who would like more. We hope it is of some help. On behalf of all the 74th vfs 'The Flying Tigers' 'T' GENERAL INFO: Laser Guided Bombs or LGB's are an excellent and accurate system of engaging ground Targets. The GBU 12 (a Mk 82 500lb bomb with laser seeker attachment) and the GBU 10 (a Mk 84 2000lb bomb with laser seeker attachment) once dropped from the pylon, home in on a laser that is fired automatically or manually by the pilot, from the Lightning II 'Sniper' Targetting Pod. It is important that the pilot maintain a steady flight until the Target is destroyed to ensure that the Laser is not masked by the airframe of the A-10C. This, is it's only limitation. Accuracy is it's greatest strength. In comparison to any of the GPS guided or inertially guided Bomb units, it is possible to place a GBU 10 or 12 through a window, making the GBU 12 a perfect 'Tank Plinker' in a top attack, and the A-10C can carry 14 of them! The GBU 10 being 4 times bigger, ideal for attacking structures. The method of delivery is via CCRP in the 5 mill or 3/9 method and it is important that the weapons release button is held down approximately 10 seconds before the solution cue passes through the reticule, to avoid a 'Hung Station' When this happens, the bomb is released automatically and depending on Laser setup, will home in immediatly or after a pre-set time. LESSON INFO: Auto Lase: * Master Arm to On * TGP on and aquire Tgt using the same method as explained in Lesson 3 * Laser Arm to on * Make the Tgt the SPI * Select the DSMS, then profile and select the GBU * Activate the profile, View it, change to CCRP and then change the 'auto lase' to on * Set the desired Laser time (15-17 seconds at 15,000 ft) to activate before impact * Save the settings * Master mode should be on CCRP. Hud should be in CCRP Mode * If neccessary, 'EXTEND' away to gain altitude and distance * Align to Target at desired altitude - 15000 ft is a good height, 25000 to avoid TOR's * Keep the aircraft steady and use the ASL (Azimuth Steering Line) to guide your bank angle to level flight * Maintain a level flight toward the Tgt * Await the 'solution cue' to reach 10 seconds then press and hold the weapons release button * Weapons release button depressed, throught 'solution cue drop' through reticule * Note the Bomb release by absence on DSMS or 'clunk' sound of release * Maintain level and steady flight * Watch the TGP and note the flashing 'L', meaning the Laser is being fired when the Bomb is short of the target in 'time', as specified for the Laser to fire * Once the Tgt is destroyed, re-quire a new Tgt and repeat Manual Lase: * Master Arm to On * TGP on and aquire Tgt using the same method as explained in Lesson 3 * Laser Arm to On * Make the Tgt the SPI * Select the DSMS, then profile and select the GBU * Activate the profile, View it, change to CCRP and ensure 'auto lase' is off * Set the desired Laser time (15-17 seconds at 15,000 ft) * Save the settings * Master mode should be on CCRP. Hud should be in CCRP Mode * On the TGP MFCD select the 'Cntrl' Page and change to 'Latch on' * If neccessary, 'EXTEND' away to gain altitude and distance * Align to Target at desired altitude - 15000 ft is a good height, 25000 to avoid TOR's * Keep the aircraft steady and use the ASL (Azimuth Steering Line) to guide your bank angle to level flight * Maintain a level flight toward the Tgt * Await the 'solution cue' to reach 10 seconds then press and hold the weapons release button * Weapons release button depressed, throught 'solution cue drop' through reticule * Note the Bomb release by absence on DSMS or 'clunk' sound of release * Maintain level and steady flight * Note the Time to Impact timer on the TGP MFCD, at 15 seconds to impact (or whatever time you have set) activate the Laser by pressing NWS -INSERT Key * Watch the TGP and note the flashing 'L', meaning the Laser is being fired * Once the Tgt is destroyed, re-quire a new Tgt and repeat Now watch the following video Laser Guided Bombs - GBU12 FURTHER LEARNING: Visit & study the following resource pages: * DCS Wiki CCRP * Paveway II site * LGB Ordanance Site * MemphisBelles Step by Step http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75781 This excellent video by 'Geskes' may also be of assistance:
