  1. soooo true! 'T'
  2. Not happy - Time to wake up people! Inability for true PVP in the A-10C? FC2 pilots, get off your pedalstool, christ! "Wait until we get a fighter and masses of open servers will fill up and we'll all be pvpíng with one another happily laughing at the streak of metal plummeting toward the earth on fire" - Rubbish! I guarantee this will not be the case. People will actually want to 'learn' the high fidelity AFM nature of the next sim and all of the avionics of the aircraft. If anyone out there thinks that open servers and masses of people are going to appear over night all trying to shoot each other down with bags of "gaffaw gaffaw", they are likely to be dissapointed. This will take time. A lot of time. ED has scientists for God sake! I met one. YoYo. know what he said to me after i thanked him on behalf of all of you who love the DCS series, its fidelity, accuracy and AFM? "Thank you Tyger, that means a lot. the reason why i work 20 hr days 7 days a week is to ensure that scientifically, the product is as accurate as possible in every way, so that those people in the world who missed their calling, who will never fly a jet, be a jet pilot in combat or even be able to sit in one, can have as close as an experience as possible in their own home." And we want to ignore this? Jump in as soon as we can, fly bloody sideways, Muddle our way through an intense and complex avionics system to reach for 'Button 2' so that we can fire off BVR, fire n hope, calling all pockets? The DCS is a study sim. It started with the KA-50. It developed further with the A-10C. It will yet again, develop with the next model. Give it some respect before trying to make yourself feel better and somehow 'sim superior' by shooting down all the relative 'rookies' on an open server because you have 'legacy' knowledge of how a radar works in FC2, 1.12, 1, LOMAC! You might aswell go play HAWKX 2 Not true! Why not invest a little time in the manual and make some yourself! KISS. there is no need to use complex LUA scripting for mission immersion. All it takes is a either two things to design missions - 'Imagination' if no experience exists, 'Experience' if no imagination exists. We have 15 missions - Op Hammer Campaign (5 missions available to the public via Teamspeak) and 10 missions from Op Roundabout (currently only used by 74th Members for Trg value - ultimately these too will go into rotation) I'm not going to point toward the 74th server and repeat the same old same old, about locked servers, availability of passwords, how to get them etc. Bottom line - highlight the server in the server listing and actually READ the description. Guarantee you'll see Teamspeak info on most servers. A-10C does not mean there is no PvP and in 7 tours of Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, 2 of Iraq and 2 of Afghan, ive seen plenty of CAS from AH and fast air (thankfully not in Northern Ireland!), and in comparison there has been little of Air to Air engagements. what i have seen and been part of, in 24 years service in the Infantry, is very kinetic multi spacial combat co-operative operations. Now there's a thing!
  3. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75876 You need the SPI set on the Target for a LGB such as the GBU10/12 so that the laser from the pod is trained on the target location. 'T'
  4. Noob, Newb, Newbie, rookie, amateur, new boy, fluffpot, yoric, slipper or ternie they all mean the same thing. what they do NOT mean is an IDIOT. Which, incidentally, can be anyone who knows that what they are doing on a 'server' in a sim (in this case), is going to piss others off. be that: Taxi-ing to wrong active Not reading the mission briefing asking stupid questions in chat like - "how do i get this thing goin?" Dive bombing or basting those who are taxiing Popping flares over an airbase because it looks nice Shooting down, on purpose, others, just to see what happens Amongst hundreds of other scenarios. (not withstanding the fact that the cartoon is fairly accurate!)
  5. :music_whistling: This is how we do business also. Wanna fly? then jump on Teamspeak. you dont even have to ask for the server password, it is issued as MOTD. 'T'
  6. I always said KISS right? I'm sure we can get this fixed via a hotfix perhaps. As Viper has said, it has been addressed to the higher echelons. Fairplay speed, now keep calm and await to hear.
  7. Or just hook your mate via the TAD and look at your HUD? so much easier.
  8. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm................ OP. No you can't. that answer your question? There's enough red herrings in this post to open a fish market. ;-) 'T'
  9. An outstanding Initiative, thanks for your efforts. Now lets see some videos being made fellas n ladies. 'T'
  10. I had heard that the Tri-plane went onto it's nose after landing, due to the wind. Anyone confirm this?
  11. Corsair ftw!
  12. AFAIK it's not an issue. It's only an IP number in the server.lua file and even that, only if you are networking to a netbook, for example. 'T'
  13. Well............................................... Spoilt for choice i think the phrase is! What a simply awesome day, and one i will repeat in the future for sure! There was everything there from Dragon Rapide's to P51 Mustangs, from Corsairs to Spitfires and Hurricanes, from the dangerous 109's to the manouverable Bearcat (in the hands of Simon Grey anyway!). To meet Jim Mack was great, Dmitry inspirational, my 2ic of the 74th an honour, Eddie and the VRA brilliant. The airshow was 3 hrs of non stop flying. It was an 'air ballet' with no breaks of even 30 seconds. Very well done indeed! The finale was a 32 ship 'balboa' formation with all the aircraft involved. The skies of England haven't seen that since WW2. Here are but just a few pictures and a vid of the first half of the 'Balboa'. If it wets your appetite, then do please consider lending your support by attending next year. regards 'T' Skyraider - Wings up P51 Mustangs, F4 Corsair and Spitfire Taxiing Skyraiders in the Background with a bloke who's missing his rifle? 14. Yep, and using the speedbrakes is an easy way of knowing if everyone is in position and ready to move on if there are more than 2 per flight. To be fair, this system of work was 'derived' from my time with the 104thPhoenix, for us the whole methodology is known as 'SOP 5'.
  15. I love your work you know that, but wonder if these road markings are anything like the ones of the region? 'T'
  16. Good luck mate! If i wasn't running the 74th i would definitely be doing the aerobatic team displays..........................................mmmmmmmmmmmm An A-10C aerobatic display? Nah................................. 'T'
  17. The whole purpose is to avoid you clocking up a 'death' in MP or in SP. It will register as an Eject, but not a death. Once landed, simply press escape, and jump into another aircraft slot (in MP case). In SP, restart the mission, the eject will be clocked up in your logbook.
  18. Q: What is a Whisper List? A: A whisper list is communication setup in TS3, so that more than once channel at a time can be interacted with Q: Ok.....got it. How do i set it up? A: Simple. Start TS3, goto tools then Whisper lists. click new, then add a key press as per the layout below. Then drag and drop the appropriate channels in the centre field. click apply. The Default setup requirements for using the 74th Whisper channels are as follows: Key Press: LCtrl + 6 Channels: ATC / GC / Air Ops & YOUR FLIGHT CHANNEL Key Press: LCtrl + 1 Channels: Flight 1 - Boar & YOUR FLIGHT CHANNEL Key Press: LCtrl + 2 Channels: Flight 2 - Dodge & YOUR FLIGHT CHANNEL Key Press: LCtrl + 3 Channels: Flight 3 - Chevy & YOUR FLIGHT CHANNEL Key Press: LCtrl + 4 Channels: Flight 4 - Hog & YOUR FLIGHT CHANNEL Key Press: LCtrl + 5 Channels: Flight 5 - Pontiac & YOUR FLIGHT CHANNEL Key Press: LCtrl + 7 Channels: ATC / GC / Air Ops, Flight 1 - Boar, Flight 2 - Dodge, Flight 3 - Chevy, Flight 4 - Hog, Flight 5 - Pontiac Points of note: * The last Whisper list (LCtrl + 7) is known as a Guard Net and is used for minimal communications because it transmits to all channels. Esentially 'On Station' & 'Off Station' * Each Flight lead determines whether he wants to include his 'OWN' channel in each of the whisper lists. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. The Main advantage is that everyone in the flight knows of 'external communications' by the flight to other force elements. The main disadvantage is that it causes an awfull lot of 'in channel' comms of different content mixes. When talking 'in the flight' channel only, brevity is lax, speed and acuracy important and this is generally less formal. The flight 'talk' to each other. essentially, the UHF Radio. When you use a whisper list, it is because you need to talk 'out' of the closed 'Flight net' and so it is far more formal. * EVERY member of a flight should have the same setup as flight lead in order for any flight member to be able to assume command. Regards 'T'
  19. Know what? That does make sense right? I'm also going to open the channels up to members of the community who want to use whisper lists. Thanks 'T'
  20. :smilewink: thanks Gav. 'T'
