  1. By which I mean: MGRS grid OFF by default LL grid OFF by default Show labels - ground units OFF by default Show labels - aerial units OFF by default Also: Aircraft on the ground that are set to LATE ACTIVATION - allow VISIBLE BEFORE ACTIVATION
  2. This post is relevant...
  3. Ok, so I tried it - the original .miz was in the Persian Gulf. You don't need to rename the .miz file to .zip as 7-zip will open the .miz file. You need to edit the mission and theatre files that are inside the .miz file by using the copy to command in 7-Zip, you need to change the name in theatre to your new chosen map and you need to change the map reference in the mission file as well. Then delete the existing mission and theatre files from within 7-Zip and drag and drop you edited files back into the opened 7-Zip file. The results are attached. As @MAXsenna mentioned, success will depend on the coordinates of the original file and tha might be trial and error! New supercarrier demo PG.miz New supercarrier demo - Syria.miz
  4. Probably an ELE!
  5. Thank you for the quick response! Actually for me, switching to a different terrain mission is probably the norm, I still think presenting you with the mission list as in the initial behaviour is more logical.
  6. I posted this 'observation' last August but received no real response, I am aware that the moderators are undoubtedly swamped with 'queries' of all kinds and 'triage' has to come into play but the current sequence adds a unnecessary and redundant step. Load DCS Click on MISSION EDITOR Select and load a mission one of your missions from the list, edit, change or simply check it. Exit MISSION EDITOR (because your want to check your log book or any other reason) Click on MISSION EDITOR again to load another mission and BOOM - it loads an empty mission based on the last map used? Why?? Why not present you with the missions list as before??
  7. You can save the mission as a template to re-use again but ONLY on the same map, ME (sadly) does not support the function you require.
  8. When you consider the available ops in DCS - CAP/ CAS / SEAD / ESCORT / FIGHTER SWEEP / GROUND ATTACK / RECONNAISSANCE / RUNWAY ATTACK etc etc, pushing the point that carrier ops are not available on an upcoming map and requesting hundreds of miles on featureless landscape seems a little unnecessary? (JMHO)
  9. 10.00 minutes in he looks at the new G introduction.
  10. Which is, sadly, another glaring omission in he ME...
  11. Yes! I did! Problems with DCS and VR, the forums were (and still are to some extent) full of associated VR problems but also getting hot and stuffy, problems associated with finding keyboard bindings and last but not least the lack of clarity of cockpit display, I moved to trackIr and have never regretted it.
  12. @Flappie - Sorry for the delay! options.lua
  13. Yes, we are still in the crazy situation where if you place ground crew next to the aircraft in a hardened bunker, they end up on top of the structure!
  14. While I agree with the Forrestal comment completely I would also welcome a populated deck as a choice. As I am not a developer I can say with impunity that it shouldn't be too difficult to have a standard populated or unpopulated carrier of choice
  15. @Lord Vader "Yes, this has been added some time ago to our "to do" list. Hopefully it will be addressed soon. " June 12 2023 Any news on this given the Viper has recently received a lot of love?
  16. I think this has been mentioned before but I cannot find the post. Landing / taxiing lights do not illuminate sufficiently IMHO, is it just me? 7.30 onwards in this video.
  17. Ha! I only took it down today! I'll repost it! Give it time to upload!
  18. When I first started DCS I found the ME cumbersome, inflexible and archaic in design, now, 4 years later I can make it do what I want but my description of it would remain the same...
  19. I'm guessing high, but that figure doesn't surprise me, I assumed most (SP) people created their own content.
  20. Very interesting! The results mirror many of my personal preferences such as the popularity of the F-16 and the general lack of interest in the SA map - good job!
  21. Nickels and dimes must have vastly increased in value recently, in my neck of the woods a Samsung MZ-V9P4T0B 990 PRO SSD goes for 373€
  22. This is exactly what is needed to drag the ME into (as you say) the 21st century but as I have mentioned before, with the non affiliated DCS Web Editor on the horizon I imagine ED will let that become the defacto editor for DCS and avoid having to rewrite the current ME...
  23. I have already deleted the disappointing South Atlantic Map in anticipation...
