DCS World Multiplayer Does Not Display Correctly
ZQuickSilverZ replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I installed the Microsoft c++ redistributable and now it just crashes when I try to join multiplayer. My specs are Windows XP Media Edition 32 Bit 2.66 Dual Core Pentium D 3 Gigs of Ram Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE PCI Sound Card Geforce GT 440 1Gig DDDR5 I should note i can play A-10c and BS2 as well as BS1 and FC2 with no issues. -
Your a geneyus (I am not a genius). Seriously that reflective glass idea was good. I think you just evolved pit building friend. Your going to be a trend setter.

So now that you all have played DCS do you think the Alphasim Ka-50 compares? I think the exterior model is really nice (except the weapons layout). The interior is pretty good. Flight model is..... well its awful. My opinion.

How to unchain the rudder from trim
ZQuickSilverZ replied to PeterP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The reason force feedback pedals do not exist is because companies fear injury to the user. The pedals would have to be very powerful to move and keep position with the weight of your leg on them. Can you imagine if it kicked back and forced your leg up (do to your knee bending) into your desk and injured you. Lawsuit city. These "free ride" frivolous lawsuits and greedy lawyers killed products like this. So if your upset you can not have force feedback pedals thank the fools who sue McDonald's for spilling coffee on themselves because it was "too hot". Want to screw something up? Get the government involved. -
The P51 in IL2 4.11.1 ... tastes like cardboard
ZQuickSilverZ replied to Teapot's topic in Chit-Chat
The flip side is there are not a lot of developers interested in flight sims. One reason is lack of a high profit margin comparative to other genres. The other is your customer is never happy with your work. The sim market for a developer is like a constant slap in the face that never ends. -
The P51 in IL2 4.11.1 ... tastes like cardboard

Wow. To me this thread is as foolish as people complaining that the aircraft's paint job is one shade off. Niel Goldman Voice "As you can see the font is incorrect on the heading indicator and the landing gear paint job is one shade off CLEARLY making the aircraft unflyable." Thats you. Thats how you sound. -
I thought you meant an African American in game pilot model when I read the title of the thread.

I have never seen anything in ARMA to make me think that it is capable of a sim experience on ANY level. When I want to play an armor game I want to play an armor game not wait around for a tank to spawn. Why would they bother making a tank sim and then put arcade aircraft in the game? I am sure Iron Front will be a great game but I don't understand where you think the comparison is.

I will contact him. I will mention you. When you say he will give us Panther D, A, and G as well as the Kingtiger are those playable or A.I. tanks? If they are playable will they have 3D interiors? Does ZW play this online? Can he connect interested parties to tank platoons? Can you give us an estimated time until the project release? Does ZW maintain a TeamSpeak server or if not does he perhaps frequent one? I would love ZW to join the ED Forums and come and talk with us. That would be great. He may be the catalyst we need to get the ball rolling on a few tank platoons. How did you hear about this post? Did you just happen to notice it scanning the forums? I see its your 1 year ED Forum anniversary. Congratulations. Sorry for blitzing you with so many questions. theOden don't leave on my account. I only wanted to present T34 vs Tiger in the best light possible to generate interest. I did not want people to think it was really old. I knew you were just joking around.
-
20 years? It came out Oct 17, 2008. So less than 4 years ago. DCS Black Shark came out April 13, 2009. T-34 vs Tiger is only 6 months older than DCS: Black Shark. Polecat seemed to like it. Polecat did you play this online by any chance?
-
I have not played multiplayer. Single player seems to work fine after downloading the DLL files. I would like to play it and see how it is. This game is much like a WW2 tank version of Lock On I think.
-
Seriously? No interest? It supports TrackIR. There's Pizza (People who watch South Park get this reference.... or at least they should). Check out those screen shots. Check it out on YouTube. I would love to see some comments. Are there no people interested in tank warfare here? Did I mention it is online muliplayer?
-
One more screen shot for good measure just to show the 3D interior. Yes, those gauges work.
-
I would like to find some like minded people to play this say once a week or so. This is a very interesting tank sim. I would say if Steel Beast PE is the tank equivalent of DCS then WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs. Tiger is the Lock On. If you get this you may need to download some DLL's as well as the manual. Here is the link. http://www.tanksimzw.com/dl.htm Here are some screen shots.
-
So how is that Steel Beasts 2 looking...... yeah.
-
Thanks for answering the question..... now about that FC3 helo? Maybe?
-
I'm a bit confused why we have to have LOMAC (released in 2005 mind you) to install FC3 which is a totally different graphics engine. Why would I have to install a non compatible seven year old game to play FC3? I am just asking what is the mentality behind that? Does it have something to do with an agreement with Ubisoft? I just can not understand why you would need a seven year old piece of software to install a non compatible new piece of software. If FC3 offers a new airframe all is forgiven (not a specific one just one in general). Also of note.... I would love to see a FC combat helo (even a Black Shark)...... just saying.

The Toad (Su-25T) appreciation thread
ZQuickSilverZ replied to Nate--IRL--'s topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
You DO NOT have to turn the laser on when firing a Vicker in the Su25T. You can however turn it on and off rapidly to rapid fire Vickers (for some reason it removes the cooldown timer). -
Can someone post this as just a plain keyboard with no commands in it (no color coding either please). I would also like to use this for other games if possible. Thank you.

Ka-50 Dimensions and Techincal Drawings
ZQuickSilverZ replied to darkstar130's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
This is what I have modeled so far from online plans. Keep in mind this is a work in progress and I am NOT a 3d modeler. -
Ka-50 Dimensions and Techincal Drawings
ZQuickSilverZ replied to darkstar130's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
I have looked to with no luck Meatwad. I can send you some tech data from a KA-50 pit designer if you like. His plans are accurate to the millimeter. I have also modeled these in 3D using Google Sketchup. -
My technique is not so extreme. The first thing I do is kill the collective then pull back. Killing the collective keeps altitude gain at a minimum. When my helo starts to lose altitude I give it more collective until it levels out. It is even more effective if you pull back then trim back (force feedback users know what I am talking about for sure). Viper I wrote this long ordeal about why I did not agree with that technique (It was late at night and I wanted to go to bed so I did not watch the video. I only used the text to try to get a mental picture of what you were doing.). After seeing it in action though that seems like it would be pretty effective. Maybe I should adopt it. Note, auto hover is a great thing. However, if you see a missile coming at you TURN IT OFF FAST. The reason is your trying to side slip and the auto hover is trying to keep you in one spot. You get killed fighting your own auto hover. War Hawks (the squad I belong to) will train you. We have many unique training aids. We also use multi user interactive classrooms. When you play a mission with us it would be similar to an actual real life pilot briefing (not a pasted document and a bunch of text like you get with online servers). If you had questions you would be able to interact with the briefing (often with several documents) in real time. When you play with us it is organized. You have a clear picture of the overall goal and a clear picture of what other teams are doing. There is no pressure on new people however because our experienced people will issue instruction so you will not feel lost. After a time you will get so "in sync" you won't need instruction, you will just know what to do.
-
I will put it this way...... I would not be interested without a cockpit. It needs to be made in such a way that it can use existing flight gear since we dont have this:

I would love a DCS Tank but, I think it would need to have its OWN terrain. I don't think terrain designed for an aircraft would work so well for tank combat. I mean as far as layout not graphics. Graphics are a whole other issue. If they were to make a DCS Tank it would need to be stand alone. Besides what fun would it be for a tank to get Su25T'd, DCS A-10C'd (lol C'd like SEAD) and KA-50'd over and over and over?
