http://www.modern-air-combat.de/index.php?topic=104.0 For newbies, VJS 161 provides a Hyperlobby Tutorial in German language in the DL section. As HL is supporting many other games beside Lock-On, this tutorial might be useful for other communities as well. Please pass the info....

Thanks to Renato Pavičić for this nice work. Find it here: http://www.translatorweb.org/igre.htm From the ReadMe: Renato's site is part of the Lock On Web Ring.

Well, there used to be a squadron map http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=20348 Unfortunatelly, lockonskins.co.uk is gone, so is the map... UPDATE: Here it is again, still had a backup on my drive: http://www.crc-mindreader.de/LockonMap/index.html

You mean, IRL. How is it modelled in FC ?

In addition, the MiG-29A lacks engine power compared to the S version.

AFAIK, ModMan 6.1.0.2 is the latest one released: http://www.checksix-fr.com/bibliotheque/index.php?page=detail&ID=5470

Merzifon I wonder why ED did not come up with at least one Turkish airbase ? The original map of Flaming Cliffs already allowed for it (AFAIK even the first Lock On map did) and we have seen a mod transferring one of the Crimean base (Razdolnoye ?) to the Merzifon location. Turkey already was a country to choose as a coalition airfield from the very beginning, and using the Black Sea and the Turkish coastal region would provide an excellent playground for air force / navy interactions. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/europe/airfield-tu.htm

AFAIK there is no countdown timer or else for the Russian aircraft. There is a countdown for the range until you get the Launch Auth, but it won't tell you when the R-77 itself goes active. Good guess - and what can be seen in the TacView-replays, is a range about 10 km and below to the enemy aircraft, where you can see the R-77 changing course and heading towards the impact point.

I think, he refers to the A-10 Desk Top Trainer for the US ANG: http://www.thebattlesim.com/desc/TFC_TIS%20A10C%20Press%20Release.doc I don't know how much copies ED /TFC has sold of it, but you can expect, that this contract gave a major boost to ED's finances....
-
That won't happen, here is why (posted earlier by me): http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=26141&page=4 Dear english speaking gents: Don't overestimate your importance to ED. It's still a foreign (Russian) company focussing on a totally different market.
-
Well, even this aspect has it's limitations. Think of the fact, that even between Lock-On and FC, there was no compability, and even a different patch status disabled online-missions between players. That much to re-usability. It will be interesting to see, how BS and follow-on modules will behave regarding patches/bug-fixes. Once the DCS series is started, there is a need for keeping follow-on modules compatible downwards, even after patches for product improvement will be released. And, there will be patches released - I promise !
-
ED is a Russian company, which naturally focusses on their national market, at least focussing on the GUS, and if the folks over there want a combat helo, they will get it - as we see. USA/Europe market is second level only, and not that important.
-
I fully agree with you, however I don't see that there will be some additional DCS module=Jets available in the near future. Taken into consideration the time it has taken for developing BS (which isn't even released yet...), we likely will see the A-10 in Summer 2008, the next one in early 2009 and so on. So if we expect to fly a Su-27 or F-15 again using the DCS-engine, it will be 2009+ at best.
-
I don't think that anything we post here will have a real impact on ED's plans. If it was so, we wouldn't have seen SF copy protection and BS beeing released as new stand-alone product, leaving many fans behind puzzled and somewhat disappointed after all the statements about BS beeing compatible to Lock-On. Instead we find ourselves confronted with the choice of flying a combat helo without any flyable jets included in this new sim (yet) and depending on/ hoping for at least a patch 1.13 for adding all the developed goodies and bug-fixes that we expected to get with BS as it was announced until last week..... I have very mixed feelings about how this developed. :(

Gosh, just found this part in the FAQ. Must have missed it in the first run through. "Q: I own “Lock On”, which was also developed by Eagle Dynamics, and I want to know if “Lock On” aircraft will be part of DCS? A: DCS is a whole new product line and is not compatible with “Lock On”. The only flyable aircraft in the initial release of DCS will be the Ka-50. DCS and Lock On will not be multiplayer compatible. " Thanks. So I will stay for a while with FC to have my Su and my MiG and install BS on a second HDD.

OK, one thing I couldn't get a good answer for yet: Will BS be compatible with Lock-On's Flaming Cliffs ?

BLACK SHARK RELEASE 08 NOV 2007
golfsierra2 replied to skinnadoor's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
2 Questions to @EvilBivol-1 Can you please clarify wether BS can be installed over FC or not ? Or do we need then two Lock-On installations, one with BS and one with FC ? Would be nice to have both the Su-25T and the Ka-50 on one installation. And another question (provided BS can be installed over FC): Will online gaming be possible between participants using FC 1.12b and others using FC+BS (1.2) ? -
Well, I think I know what you are trying to tell here, but have to point out that anything launched or fired will slow down when the thrust source is gone due to the drag induced by the air. Even fired from a stationary aircraft on the ground, a bullet from the cannon will slow down as soon as it has left the barrel. Any missile will slow down as soon as the booster is exhausted. The additional drag induced by the airspeed of an flying aircraft enforces this effect, but is not the reason for it. :smartass:

I second that. Boom Boom has done a great job ! @Geier: Na, dann komm doch mal rüber...
