Why do you tell me ? I am fully aware about this fact. It was Pilotasso who claimed that he heard a whoosh sound in that R-73 video. I told him, that I did not hear it that way, only the short "popping" launch sound. I don't think so. There also is a soundfile MissileLaunchEngine.ogg, which is the launch sound plus some rocket engine sound added to it. And there also is a third file called MissileEngine.ogg, which is the sound of that rocket engine without the launching sound. For outside view, it appears to me that MissileLaunchEngine.ogg will be played when a missile is launched, and for the tracking view F6, the rocket engine sound of the third file will be played as long at the rocket engine boosts the missile.

There is no such thing like "two identical radars". IRL every radar has its own unique finger print, which an ARM will recognize. IRL it won't work to switch between two or more radars of the same type. It might work in Lock-On, but I can't see how to have them stop radiating. Once a radar is put on the map (or a radar equipped aircraft appears), this radar will be active all day long.

Version 2 (tested) I did some experiments and found out about the reason for this strange behaviour. I needed to resample it with other settings. The original sound file was 22050 Hz mono with 45 Kbps, while my first mod was 44100 Hz stereo 65 Kbps. Now it's fine, even the volume matches nicely. Please try this one: MissileLaunch.zip

AFAIK there is only one MissileLaunch.ogg which is for all the missiles. If it's working with one of them, it should work with all, right ?

I extracted the missile launch sound of the R-73 from the video mentioned in this thread http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=24867 Just replace the original MissileLaunch.ogg in the Sounds/Effects folder with this file. (Please scroll down to version 2)

I doubt that. The way radar sets operate is the same in Russia and Western Europe/USA. The frequency bands may be different (older systems using lower frequencies), but in the end all nations have the same knowledge and technical capabilities.

Energy scatter is THE main factor in stealth. If there are now reflections or only very weak, you wont see that bird on a radar set except at very close ranges. This is true for all radar frequencies. About RAM you have to consider, that this material is only good at a certain predefined frequency bandwidth. RAM designed for 'eating' L-band is no good at K-Band. The Russians were / are still good in operating a great variety of radar systems of several generations, from the 50ies to current state-of-the-art, which provides a very large spectrum of radar frequencies to be used. RAM can't cope with all of them at the same time.

This still would not hinder you from installing a DL version of FC. BTW: This is no 'another mistake from the dev team' (what are the other mistakes then ?) There simply is no DediServer version of Lock-On or FC available yet, that's it. If you want to run Lock-On / FC as a 'server', you have to provide a machine that basically is capable of all features a normal player rig shows as well - you have to meet the same system requirements except the display (but nevertheless Lock-On / FC is calling for a 3D-videocard, DX-9 capable, DX-8.1 for Lock-on 1.02)

Try to swap the screens, just to see if the quality of one of them isn't good enough anymore. If the picture appears sharp and crisp again with your father's rig but your SyncMaster attached to it, then it's the Hyundai that has to be replaced.

I see your point: Had raised that point several times an brought to the attention of the moderators: If people got warned or even worse banned, and the posts got deleted, nobody will be able to find out what the heck happened - with starts rumors and of course bad feelings about the Mods..... I understood that it is pretty useless to discuss this with the Moderators. The way this forum is handled gives room for improvement, but it isn't on the list yet... That's a valid point. Kill ratio's as posted here say nothing of the circumstances that they were achieved at. 10 vs 50 will always end up in a poor kill ratio for those 10 (RIP), because they never will have time to employ a good tactic...
