My biggest problem with my first few lessons was the strange feeling of "steering" on the ground with my feet! I quickly bought a set of rudder pedals and started practicing on sims and my next flying lesson was a snap! And effte is right: Planes "want" to fly, just keep that in mind. Another issue of mine was geting used to my instructor. At first he would say things like "RPM 1500 on approach", and I would set it, then laterfeel I should be adjusting it, and I wasn't sure if I should do it or ask him first. Just remember to ask questions and you'll be fine.

A lot of people used to have these around here in the '80s for sat TV. People would probably just give them to ya if you offer to remove it from thier yard.

Another option is to change out the handle on the FF with a cheap joystick like the ST290 etc., then you have the best of both worlds. (I personally wouldn't dare hack up a perfectly good CH product though)

I am thinking about building my own. If I do, I'll make a thread for it. I can't decide if I want to remove the bezels or not...

Just got a message from him: He is flying jets now and be said if all goes well, he will be flying A-10s by July!!!!!!!!!

I know how ya feel... My old best friend from grade school is now in the USAF. The last time I talked to him he was flying the Texan II turboprop trainer. Not sure what he's in now...

IL2 is still a great looking game! Just patch it accordingly and download some high-res skins. Thanks for the review! Could you elaborate on the Throttle?? The look of the throttle alone make me want to buy the X-65... it just looks so cool and ergonomically correct. Does it feel this way to you now? Do the buttons and hats on the throttle seem to be in the correct place? Are there enough of them? My main gripe about my X-52 is the throttle doesn't have nearly enough buttons and hats!!!
