Triple Monitor with Softh
walker450 replied to S77th-RYKE's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If anyone is having issues with multiplayer screens.... here is some info: You can't click on anything except the center screen.... so you have to go into the files and "move" the buttons over to the center. PM me if you want help doing this. I don't have time right now to explain all of it. -
What should I do with this setup?
walker450 replied to bloomstomb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I recommend SoftTH. I have dual 280s and 2 19" and one 23". My center monitor is hooked to the first port on the main card, the left monitor to the second port on main card, and third to the second card. I use it in BS and FC2 but I dont have a10C but it should work the same. A video of my setup in BS: Here is a good thread on how to setup everything: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=39577 Good luck! -
Multi-Monitor SLI working great!
walker450 replied to Callsign.Vega's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Could you please elaborate on your setup? Do you have two video cards, each with two GPU's? How are your monitors plugged in? Two in the main card and one on the second card? Are you using DVI, HDMI, or Display Port? And what is your total resolution in DCS? Thanks in advance. -
Is your rotary 1 still bad Stretch? I used mine a lot this weekend at the LAN meet and I must say I am liking it more and more. I couldn't imagine NOT having all of those HATs available now! They are great! I really enjoyed letting other people fly with it and watch thier reactions.

I had a great time at the meet and met some more really cool people! Next year I'll definitely come down on Thursday again, that extra time is really nice. Thanks to Earl and Larry for making it happen, and to the 159th for the server and missions. --Drew--

I am still really enjoying the X65. It is taking a little while to get used to the throttle ergonomics though. I can't rest my hand on it and use the front hats and the side hats at the same time.... It's kind of one or the other. As for the stick, its amazing. It is basically everything I would want in one... the force sensing is great and I don't see myself dragging out the X52 for any reason in the future. Being able to change modes on the fly is probably the best thing they incorporated into it. As for the twist rudder: The first few days I didn't map it in Blackshark, and just used my pedals. I recently started using it and so far I am undecided on it. The trick for me was to bring the sensitivity down on it quite a bit from factory settings. I think they set it intentionally high so you wouldn't be putting rudder inputs in when you didn't want to. However, in the Blackshark, you are constantly using the pedals... so I set mine quite sensitive. Something else to note: You may see people do tests where they wiggle the stick back and forth and side to side and comment on the "bleeding" between all axis. My findings have been that this is not an issue when actually flying. If you see the aircraft behaving in a way that is undesirable, you simply correct it, you don't think about which way you are moving your hand or if you are twisting it or not. This is hard to explain, but it just seems that you have to "think" about it and it just happens. I'll post again once I use it more.

So any advice on where to buy push-buttons and switches? I looked at RadioShack and they are crazy... like 3.99+tax for a regular switch. That would get expensive way too fast for me.... Also... anyone care to make a "guide for dummies" type tutorial on how to make x-keys, cats board, and switches/buttons to work??

A friend gave me a keyboard.... It is one that "splits" in the middle and can be adjusted how you want so it is more ergonomic. I removed some of the keys and made a custom panel to use in Blackshark. It has the following available: All datalink functions found on the panel in the upper left of the cockpit. F1-F6 Esc, Print Screen, Pause/Break/Delete/Backspace/Scroll Lock/Num Lock/Win/Spacebar And here are the pics:

Monitor setup: 1 large screen <vs> 3 small screens
walker450 replied to Frazer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm running a 23" widescreen in the middle with two 19" standard aspects on the sides. This is only because I already had them "laying around". :) If I was going to be purchasing new ones, I would lean towards 3 24" widescreens. Callsign-vega has one of the nicest setups I've seen. -
Monitor setup: 1 large screen <vs> 3 small screens
walker450 replied to Frazer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
After using 3 monitors for a few months now, I don't think I could go bakc to one. I have also used a 42" for a month or so too, and it was nice, but nothing like having the added immersion of the peripheral vision gained with extra high horizontal resolutions. However, if you are going to go 3D, i'm nit sure how it would work. PS: The plastic monitor bezels generally come off easily. I myself don't even notice them after flying a little while. An another con of multiple-monitors is DCS's poor support for them. Example: Multiplayer menus in Blackshark. (not sure if they have fixed this in A-10C) -
Wow I now have a whole list of beers to try!!! :)

Had my wife pull over at the end of the runway so I could watch a couple planes land. An E-3 landed then I shot the video of a T-38 doing a missed approach or something....
-
I forgot to add something earlier... the resteraunt I'm at is approx. 3/8 mile from the north end of the Tinker AFB runway, so every few minutes I get to watch something (B-2, KC-135R, E-3, E-6) make an approach. Every now and then something will rattle the building on takeoff but I can't see the south end of the runway too good from my table. :)

I love beer. I'm at Old Chicago having a German Ayinger Brua-Weisse that sort of tastes like Kerosene.... And it's wonderful. Just wanted to share that. Who else enjoys a good beer???

How I broke my HOTAS in under 30 minutes...
walker450 replied to AJ.eightFive's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hahahhahhahahahhaha Sorry couldn't help it.... I can laugh because I have the same ability to magically breakthings when I get near them! :) -
How about this: DCS: F-16 with a corresponding release of Thrustmaster:Viper (Force Sensing Cougar) Then all the people with broke down Cougars can buy a brand new model with force sensing like it should be in the Viper!
